Environmental Requirements to Apply for FEMA Funding

When a community applies for FEMA funding — such as Public Assistance, Hazard Mitigation Assistance or Preparedness Grants — potential impacts to the environment and cultural resources must be considered.

Regional News and Information

The Disaster Recovery Centers in Calloway and Trigg counties will cease operations Saturday at 5 p.m. CT. Help is still available in person, online or by phone. Kentuckians should check the most up-to-date schedule to ensure a Disaster Recovery Center is open before going there. The deadline to apply for FEMA assistance is Sept. 22.

A new policy streamlines the process of applying for disaster assistance. Survivors now have the option to apply for a low-interest SBA loan when they apply for FEMA assistance. FEMA no longer requires disaster survivors to apply for an SBA loan before being considered for FEMA individual assistance for the most recent disasters, including Kentucky May 21-27 severe storms, straight-line winds, tornadoes, landslides and mudslides.
