Full Guarda Wallet review

This wallet is a good fit for: Crypto users with a wide variety of tokens looking to keep their assets usable, accessible, and secure.

What is Guarda Wallet?

Guarda Wallet was first launched in 2017, and it's designed to be an extremely secure, "all-in-one" wallet. Guarda Wallet is a noncustodial, open source wallet with a big emphasis on privacy and security. It offers access to over 400,000 digital assets and over 50 blockchains on both mobile and desktop devices. Although it is a hot wallet, Guarda is hardware compatible should you desire more security. It also includes a wide range of earning and trading opportunities, such as staking and crypto-backed loans, right within the wallet.

Guarda Wallet is an excellent cryptocurrency software wallet for both beginners and experienced crypto investors who value security, a user-friendly design, and the ability to manage all their crypto assets in one place.

Top perks

Security

More and more, people are wanting the right to privacy and security of their own assets, and Guarda helps provide this. Guarda Wallet is noncustodial, which means you do not have to provide personal information to use it, and your private keys won't be stored on the company's server, which reduces the threat of being hacked. Only you hold your private keys, and only you can recover them, which is why it is suggested to have a backup file stored on several devices.

Functionality

Guarda Wallet is primed to be a one-stop wallet for most crypto enthusiasts' needs. It supports over 50 blockchains. So, unless you are a collector of old or exotic coins, you can likely find the ones you are looking for in Guarda Wallet. Once you find them, you can buy, trade, and store your digital currencies, all right there within the wallet.

You also have the chance to earn interest on your holdings via staking. Many of the coins that have the opt-in for staking are available within the platform. So there's no need to go to a different trading platform, making it a good option if you're looking to have a high amount of function in one place.

What could be improved

High fees

The main complaint you will hear of Guarda Wallet is about the high in-app crypto purchase fees. The standard fee is 5.5% for crypto purchase, but Guarda features customizable transaction fees. So, if you don't mind waiting longer for a transaction, you can pay less. Alternatively, you can pay a higher fee to speed up your transaction. It also includes the option to buy coins with your credit card, which has additional fees. There's also a Bitcoin mining fee -- at the time of this writing, that fee could go as high as $15.

User interface

Overall, the user interface is quite good. It's clean and straightforward, and it has a dark-mode option on desktop. The one thing that's lacking is that it doesn't display the full portfolio in a visual motif (such as a pinwheel or graph). That is a relatively small detail, but it does leave something to be desired when you want a clear visual display of all of your assets.

Alternatives to consider

If you want to store some more exotic coins: You may want to consider Coinomi. Coinomi is similar to Guarda Wallet in its privacy and security features. But, because it was launched in 2014, it is one of the oldest wallets out there and has one of the largest selections of cryptocurrency available. Coinomi has a clean and easy-to-use interface. It also features built-in exchanges, deFi support, cold staking, and NFT support.

If you want a more direct trade-to-wallet experience: Coinbase Wallet provides traders with Coinbase account a seamless way to buy, trade, and sell their crypto (although you don't have to have a Coinbase account to use this wallet). Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody wallet that also provides support for NFTs right in the wallet. With industry-leading security, users can store their crypto assets confidently within this trusted platform.

Guarda Wallet fees

Guarda Wallet is free to get and use, but it does have some high fees once you get in. The standard fee is 5.5% for crypto purchase, and it has customizable transaction fees. So, if you don't mind waiting longer for a transaction, you can pay less. Alternatively, you can pay a higher fee to speed up your transaction. It also includes the option to buy coins with your credit card, which is appealing to some, but Guarda charges for this convenience. There's also a Bitcoin mining fee, and when we checked, it could go as high as $15.

Is Guarda Wallet safe to use?

Guarda Wallet is a highly secure wallet. You do not need to give personal information to create a wallet, or to deposit or withdraw funds. It will never ask for your private info, nor does it store your private keys on its servers. Because of this, no one can deanonymize you, and it makes it extremely difficult to be hacked. Guarda is a noncustodial wallet, so you are completely responsible and in control of your funds. This makes it a solid option to store and exchange your crypto assets.
