Rangers to accept £2m Sam Lammers offer – sources

Sam Lammers “doesn’t figure” in Rangers’ plans for the forthcoming season.

That’s the view of senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke, who spoke to Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast about Lammers’ future at Ibrox Stadium.

The 27-year-old has been relegated to the Rangers B-team this summer after not being taken on pre-season by Philippe Clement.

It’s a statement of how the Gers boss views the forward, leaving him in limbo about what will happen next in his career.

Lammers spent the second half of last season on loan at Utrecht, but a permanent deal between the two clubs couldn’t be agreed.

The Dutch forward isn’t in Clement’s plans for the future, and the Scottish outfit are now looking to cash in on him this summer.

Rangers are set to lose money on Sam Lammers

Rangers initially bought Lammers from Atalanta for £3.5million, but sources say they won’t get back what they paid for him.

Instead, the Gers will snap the hands off at a fee of £2million this summer to remove Lammers from the books.

The striker scored 10 goals and provided three assists during his spell at Utrecht last season, showcasing his qualities.

Sources believe there could be interest in him from Holland after those performances in the Eredivisie, but it is an uncertain time for the player.

However, these are also uncertain times for Rangers as a club due to the chaotic situation taking place at Ibrox Stadium.

Football Insider revealed that the Gers are now set to start the season playing at Hampden Park due to their home ground not being ready following shipment delays.
