A Chic New Dior Spa Arrives Aboard The Eastern & Oriental Express

Run by Belmond, the same brand operating Europe’s iconic Venice Simplon-Orient-Express train, Southeast Asia’s Eastern & Oriental Express made a triumph return to the rails earlier this year after a four-year hiatus.

Offering seasonal adventures through Singapore and Malaysia, the luxury train announced another big development with news of a long-term partnership with Dior and a new permanent Dior Spa carriage coming to the rails this month (July 2024). Serving as the first Dior spa in Southeast Asia, the new spa will take up residence in one of the train’s 16 carriages and will feature Dior branding, including the house’s iconic Cannage motif incorporated into the woodwork; rose emblems in green and beige in the carpets; and pale green toile de jouy print furniture, curtains and throw pillows, decorated with tigers in homage to Malaysia’s sacred national animal.

Taking up the whole of the carriage, the spa will be made up of two treatment rooms with several custom face and body treatments on offer, some including meditative exercises or regional influences. For example, D-Jungle Face and Body treatment hones in on the body’s energy meridians, while the Constellation Massage uses Asian massage techniques for muscle and stress relief. Facials use Dior’s Prestige skincare line, and treatments include the Kobi-Dior Facial Treatment, influenced by the Japanese facial massage technique known as Kobido. There is also an elegant relaxation area with plush seating for tisanes and pre- or post-treatment downtime.

This is the third Dior Spa to come aboard a Belmond train. The French fashion house also had a temporary residence aboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, and the first permanent Dior Spa debuted on Scotland’s Royal Scotsman in April 2023.
