Shattenkirk off the market?

Shattenkirk (getty)

ESPN’s Craig Custance reports that the St. Louis Blues GM, Doug Armstrong is apparently pulling back Kevin Shattenkirk off the trade market.

[su_quote cite=”via Spector’s Hockey” url=”https://spectorshockey.net/nhl-rumor-mill-august-5-2016/”]Doug Armstrong said earlier this week he expects defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk to be in the Blues lineup at training camp and beyond. Armstrong downplayed the trade rumors that swirled about Shattenkirk earlier this summer, adding he expects the rearguard to have a good year with the Blues.[/su_quote]

Does This Put An End To The Trade Rumors?

In the world of sports you can never say never, but at this point I would say he is off the market for now.

The St. Louis Blues are moving towards a younger lineup and are probably not interested in Rick Nash for that reason. Regardless, they are a better team with Shattenkirk in the lineup and may be able to get a decent haul at the trade deadline.

As far as the Rangers are concerned, they can acquire him for nothing next summer when he becomes a UFA.
