Kate Middleton's diagnosis raises awareness of need for cancer screenings

Kate Middleton revealed she'll continue chemotherapy treatments for a few more months as she's "not out of the woods yet."
The Princess of Wales gave an update on her health in a social media post shared Friday. Middleton also plans to attend King Charles' birthday parade on June 15, marking her first public appearance since she announced her cancer diagnosis.
"I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of month," Middleton began. "It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times."
"I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days," she wrote. "On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well."

The Princess of Wales revealed she has a couple more months of chemotherapy treatment, but will be attending "a few" public events this summer.
"On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home," Middleton shared.
"I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet."
She added: "I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal."

Middleton first announced her cancer diagnosis in March.
She explained in a video that she had begun preventative chemotherapy treatment after a planned abdominal surgery showed "cancer had been present." Kate did not elaborate on the form or extent of the cancer at the time.
The Princess of Wales explained that after her abdominal surgery, it was believed her condition was "non-cancerous." However, further testing showed "cancer had been present." She was advised to begin chemotherapy by her medical team.

Kate's return to the public eye coincides with Trooping the Colour – a yearly celebration of the British sovereign's birthday.
The royal family will participate in a military march from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guard's Parade for the celebration.
