Summary

A Quality Assurance Specialist is responsible for the Quality Process within Glassline Corporation. This includes: ensuring that the quality tools are of the correct type and sufficient quality, quality-checking of the goods produced or procured to verify that they are up to the company’s standards, maintaining NCM records, and making recommendations for systematic changes for the purpose of improving quality. They are concerned with both the quality standards outlined by the organization and general industry standards. They are entrusted by the company to help create a quality system that will produce a consistent flow of high quality products for the company, thereby reducing rework and assembly time, for improved costs. The QA Specialist will ensure Divisional and Departmental supervisors understand the expectations required for quality assurance.

Essential Functions

  • Establish inspection tool certification process, maintain records, make new tool recommendations if necessary, and maintain tool inventory.

  • Records number and types of defect noticed or encountered while sampling some products

  • Performs regular quality check on the incoming goods to ensure they are what that is required

  • Recommends outright rejection of goods or products that fall short of the standards of the organization or quality control regulatory body. Final determination by others.

  • Keeps record of inspections for future reference

  • Works with blueprints and plans to know how the needed quality could be accomplished.

  • Maintain the Non-Conformance Procedure in E2.

  • Follow all company policies, procedures and work instructions, as applicable.

Competencies

  • Knowledge of and experienced with the use of all types of quality checking devices such as calipers, micrometers, etc.

  • Ability to read blueprints well for the purpose of checking quality, such as tolerances, dimensions, etc.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday days. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Experienced with measurement tools, quality checking.

Summary

The position is responsible for the installation, startup assistance, and servicing of Glassline Corp. machinery of various types. These may be glass processing machines, food processing machines, or packaging machines, depending on the Division that requires the work. Installation may involve marking centerlines, manipulating machines into position, leveling, anchoring, reassembly, re-wiring, re-plumbing, etc. to bring the machine to operational readiness. After installation, the technician may be involved in troubleshooting any problems found after installation. Besides installation, existing machines my need to be serviced. This may include visits to the Customer’s site for preventative maintenance, troubleshooting problems, making recommendations for parts that are required, and generally helping the Customer with any problems that they may have with the machine, within the power and knowledge of the technician. When not in the field, the technician may be required to help assemble machinery, startup machinery on Glassline Corporation’s factory floor, and training of other individuals.

Essential Functions

  • Travel to customer plant site/s to assist Customer with install, and starting up machine. Test machine to Customer satisfaction. Report issues to staff for corrective action and/or future improvements.

  • Travel to Customer site for machinery service, maintenance, training, etc.

  • Assemble machinery according to blueprints and pneumatic prints

  • Wire machinery to control panels according to schematics

  • Assist Engineering/programmer with startup of machines

  • Train Customer or other Glassline team members

  • Make recommendations to Customers for parts that they will need and relay that information to Sales for quoting.

  • Ensure Customers are completely satisfied with the machines.

  • Report working and traveling hours via a Service Report to HR, and obtain Customer feedback via form.

Competencies

  • Ability to read mechanical blueprints, as well as pneumatic and electrical blueprints

  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues with equipment

  • Precision alignment, including use of indicators and other types of instruments needed for installation, alignment and calibration of machines.

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally without issue

  • Customer interaction/communication skills

Supervisory Responsibility
In some cases, some Technicians may be a Job Foreman, and will have other Techs, Mechanics and Electrical personnel under their supervision.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position, and workdays are typically Monday through Friday, first shift, according to Divisional work schedule. Flexibility is necessary due to varying Customer requirements. Occasional evening, 3rd shift, and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel

Travel is REQUIRED. Travel durations vary, but are typically one week. International travel may be required which can have extended durations due to the travel time. Travel and meal expenses and certain other expenses are paid, as well as other bonus compensation(but not guaranteed). Travel estimation is 10-50% depending on various factors.

Required Education and Experience

  • Technical Associates Degree, preferred, in Mechanical/Electrical Tech.

  • Minimum 2 years of machinery building and/or service experience is required, over 5 years preferred
