Jennieke Cohen (JEN-ih-kah CO-en) is used to people mispronouncing her name and tries to spare her fictional characters the same problem. Jennieke writes historical fiction for young adults inspired by real people and events because life is often stranger than fiction. She studied English history at Cambridge University and has a master’s degree in professional writing from the University of Southern California. Jennieke loves exploring new locales but always returns home to Northern California where the summers are hot, the winters are mild, and life is casual.

Hi Julie! I am writing more books! Currently I'm working on more historical YA novels, though I can't say too much more than that ATM ;)

EDIT (August 2020): I can now say that my next book is titled MY FINE FELLOW and it's a gender-swapped Pygmalion retelling set in an alternate 19th century London where two girls who are culinary experts teach a young man to be gentleman chef for the upper crust of society. You can add it here on Goodreads, and it will be out January of 2022!(less)

As for Austen's men, my votes go to Henry Tilney and Captain Wentworth. My main character Vicky likes to think she's like Elizabeth Bennet, but really, all of Austen's heroines inspired me in some way, so I hope Vicky will read as a unique character in an Austen-esque story! My male protagonist Tom is a bit of a mishmash of Mr. Darcy, Captain Wentworth, and Mr. Knightley (though he's younger and more tortured than any of them).(less)
