As a seasoned poet, I am proud to present my latest collection, "Whiskey Lament". This carefully curated set of poems is a culmination of introspective musings and contemplations inspired by my love of whiskey and life's many complexities.
Each evening, as I indulged in a glass or two (sometimes more) of whiskey, my thoughts would delve deep into a range of subjects. I am honored to share these thoughts and emotions with you through my words, and I hope that you will find a connection with my writing.
With its soul-bearing poems, this collection offers a glimpse into the depths of my mind, and I am confident that it will leave a lasting impression on its readers. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this book with you, and I welcome your thoughts and reviews.
Thank you for considering "Whiskey Lament" as your next read, and may peace be with you always. #abrknpoet
I found two typos in my original upload, I have rectified and reuploaded the new file. Unfortunately I cannot see the changes on my kindle yet despite the update being live, if anyone purchases this kindly advise if you come across any errors.
This is my 13th poetry book, written on a Dairy farm in the beautiful Midlands of KwaZulu Natal South Africa. All I ask is for honest reviews and ratings, on Amazon or Goodreads. Follow me on Twitter @stuartbrknjohns and let me know how you felt about this book of poetry the first in a series of 3. It's free to read for Kindle Unlimited subscribers. Thank you in advance if you take the time to read my poetry book.
I think this is my 14th poetry book, I don't keep track of such things very well. It's book two of a 3 book series. I wrote all 3 books on a Dairy farm in winter by the fireside mainly with the silence of nature and the shadows cast by dancing flames as my company. It's on Kindle Unlimited if you are a subscriber to that. I just want to say thanks to anyone that reads this or any of my work. I set my hope to be read level at 0 so I'm always happy. I will carry on writing regardless while being the #1 reviewer on Goodreads.
I am pleased to present my collection of Tanka poetry, titled Abstract Illusions, which adheres to the ancient Japanese form of poetry, known for its strict line and syllable count. Each poem is composed of 31 syllables, with a line structure of 5-7-5-7-7 words per line.
While I regret that one poem was included twice in the collection, I remain proud of the work as a whole and would be grateful for any readers who take the time to engage with the collection and provide their feedback through ratings and reviews.
As a form of poetry, Tanka is renowned for its focus on nature and emotions, and while my collection is no exception, I have also sought to infuse modernity and personal expression into each piece.
For those with access to Kindle Unlimited, I am pleased to offer the ebook version of Abstract Illusions as a free read, and I hope readers will find joy in engaging with the collection and discovering the beauty of Tanka poetry.
Thank you for your support and consideration, and I look forward to sharing more of my work with you in the future.
Ideal for young readers, or for parents to read to the little ones. Animal-based stories with educational and motivational themes. Highly recommended for children ages 4-12. Award-winning Author

I hate rating my books because it will always be a 5 - I humbly ask for those poetry readers, and reviewers who subscribe to Kindle Unlimited to read this book and leave an honest review and rating. Feel free to check out my poetry books on Amazon and KindleUnlinted and leave a review and rating.
My second attempt at a poetry book, most of my poems in here are poems within poems. Reading the bold words separately creates a new poem, that was the idea. I think it's free on Kindle Unlimited so grab a copy and leave a review if you subscribe. Or buy it, that works out better for me :)
Haiku, Senryu and Tanka as well as poetry, Horror flash fiction and one-line micro poetry. I don't have a theme per se as I approach each poem as a life of its own. I do dance about the beauty of life as well as write horror stories and even take aim at those one-line poems. I speak of political woes, of being a poet, of love, death and disdain. I try and capture nature in the few syllables haiku offer me.
My 5-star rating means nothing as I wrote the book, just here to tell you a little about it. It's free to read on kindle unlimited and I hope some of you do.
Would love some honest reviews.
Enough from me, I have a Novel to finish.
Thanks in advance to anybody who takes the time to read my work. It is and always will be appreciated.
A book I wrote in one niggt, the last evening of 2022 a mix if poems of love to my muse. Also more complex pieces No theme per se, just individual paper gardens
If you have kindle Unlimted why dont you give my latest poetry book a lookover and leave a review. Or go large and buy a paperback or harcover 🙃. This is my 15th poetry book and 3 and final in my collection a Brkn Soul Series, I wrote all three books on a Dairy farm in the beautiful midlands of Kwa Zulu Natal, South Africa. I hope you enjoy reading my poems as much as I enjoyed bringing them to life.
Absolutely fantastic poetry! The kindle version comes with color illustration and pictures which complement the poetry. The poetry itself is a mixture of Haiku Tanka and normal poetry but the style in which Johns slips into with such ease and fluidity is amazing. The name of the book was well chosen.., the very first poem is whiskey lament which is a mind blowing piece and whiskey does indeed feature in at least 10 poems if not more. Ive read all of Johns's books and this is by far my favorite
A collection of my traditional tanka and haiku with the 17 and 31 syllable rules adhered to. I think this was the first time i used illustrations and photos in one of my books as well. I enjoyed writing it. Hope you enjoy reading it.
I wrote this book one night while my wife-to-be was having a nap, I decided I wanted a short quick-to-read book for my 6th book. It has varying themes and is just really a little taste of some of my styles. Obviously, I can't force anyone to read it but it is a quick read. Many thanks to any that take the time to flick through my thoughts.
This collection of classical tanka is anything but an abstract illusion. In fact, it's a pretty accurate reflection of the world's current state in all its beauty and absurdities. And, then again, didn't the wise say the world is an illusion? Decide for yourself. I highly recommend immersing in this collection and reading it with your heart and soul.
Another gem by Brkn. Abstract Delusion is next on my list. I found his dark musings left me in thought. His melancholy felt so so relatable at times. I wouldn't hesitate to read this over and over again.
Wonderful and diverse collection of Tanka poetry, well worth the read, free on Kindle Unlimited which made it even easier for me. I may well order a Hardback.
A collection of dark musings and some poems were written during the South African civil unrest in 2021. Other poems address the persistent struggle with mental health issues the author and the reliance on medicated escapes.
A collection of my traditional tanka and haiku with the 17 and 31 syllable rules adhered to. I think this was the first time i used illustrations and photos in one of my books as well. I enjoyed writing it. Hope you enjoy reading it.
I couldn't stop reading this book. A modern day Jim Morrison! The illustrations speak to the poetry and I'd recommend it to any discerning lovers of poetry. I gladly gave this five stars!
4.5 stars. A really well thought out poetry book. Each poem is two poems in one where Johns uses Bold words to create a new poem. Johns's writing style is also a breath of fresh air as he can write great one liners which is popular nowadays and also complex poems you can get lost in. Really one of my favorite poets of all time
