With so many emotional reconciliations, confessed feelings, near misses, and epic confrontations it’s no wonder i spent most of this book being stressed as hell and waiting for the other shoe to drop (basically the bone season experience amiright?)
the dark mirror is certainly a long awaited sequel but it’s heartrending and masterfully plotted and deserves to be read over and over again
i already cried my eyes out to chapter 13 (samantha shannon when i catch you…when i catch you samantha shannon) ch 23 - 25 you are beloved by me
also maria channeling frodo baggins was so hehe
thank you to edelweiss and macmillan for the arc:)

In aDebut author Nadia El-Fassi brews up a delightful blend of magic, wedding shenanigans, pesky hexes, and sizzling romance in one bewitching debut. In a magical cafe in London, a kitchen witch fends off a love hex by guarding her heart from potential love interests and focusing on perfecting magical bakes for her clientele. Too bad her handsome new customer is the best man at her friend's wedding and avoiding him is impossible as they'll be stuck together for the entire weekend. Best Hex Ever promises a twist on that classic witch story imbued with coziness and served piping hot with a side of chai. Dina and Scott have the kind of instantaneous connection that had me hooked on their every interaction. Best Hex Ever is a wonderfully magical romance with sparks that ignite into an inferno (seriously this book is so hot). Nadia El-Fassi proves that romance and magic are often intertwined and some connections are their own kind of magic. I’m certain many readers will find themselves in this miraculous romance novel about charting your path and opening yourself up to love again. Nadia El-Fassi brings together a one-of-a-kind witchy debut that needs to be at the top of your list this fall.

Falling in love with the statue you brought back to life while searching for the shards of a missing artifact that may grant you your heart's greatestFalling in love with the statue you brought back to life while searching for the shards of a missing artifact that may grant you your heart's greatest desire? Rachel Moore’s sophomore novel is for anyone who loves The Mummy, high-stakes adventures, and romance novels, all wrapped in an incandescent Italian summer. Margot Rhodes, A high schooler known to try everything and commit to nothing, schemes her way onto her school’s archaeological trip to Pompeii but gets more than she bargained for when she accidentally ignites an age-old search for the mythical Vase of Venus Aurelia. Enveloped in the architecture of Italy and its history, Us in Ruins centers an unlikely partnership between soft-hearted Margot and stubborn former statue Van Keane, overshadowed by moments of yearning and keen understanding. I needed a fun romantic adventure in my life and this absolutely nailed that, while also serving an unexpected amount of angst. Us In Ruins is for the people who want too much but don’t know how to reach for it, who are so scared of disappointment that they never settle for just one thing — who ultimately find solace in the love that they never expected to be granted. In her latest, Rachel Moore expertly balances adventure, cleverness, and heart, as two complete opposites realize the real quest might be winning the other's heart.

Everyone’s favorite traveling cleric is back, partaking in a journey most gothic, with an unexpected twist, a transformative teapot, and hidden secretEveryone’s favorite traveling cleric is back, partaking in a journey most gothic, with an unexpected twist, a transformative teapot, and hidden secrets tucked in the corners of a once powerful fortress. The Singing Hills Cycle remains an entirely immersive series no matter what adventure Vo is delivering, but in no way is it ever predictable. With each passing addition, I am left lingering on the talent of Nghi Vo’s worlds and words. Oh, do I want to live within them forever. This might be my favorite one yet!
