two rival writers end up sharing a book tour. only one will get a book deal out of it, so they make a bet - whoever can seduce more ppl gets the deal. but can they fight their growing desires for each other? heheheeee
When Edwina’s around, it’s hard to concentrate on anything else. That’s how annoying she is.
this year historical fantasy has been my jam, so i loveddd this. there was some creative worldbuilding with this fae land and the courts, but the main focus was the romance (which is what i wanted anyhow).
“Have my words gone over your head?” I roll my eyes. “On the contrary, your words are beneath me.”
“So you admit it. You’re not attracted to him.” “Oh, I find him attractive. I think he’s very cute.” He gives me a simpering look. “Cute. You mean like a puppy? How arousing.”
the banter between edwina and william is everythinggggg. i live for the dynamic where the guy gets a kick out of arrogantly annoying the fmc. but she also had her moments of being spontaneous and too curious for her own good that had him running to keep up with her.
“You don’t have to like me to use me.”

this was a solid first book for a new fantasy romance series, esp from an indie author. the prjust saw someone say the MMC gives Rowan energy and YES.
this was a solid first book for a new fantasy romance series, esp from an indie author. the prologue and somewhere around 50/60% has some info dumping, but it's not too terrible. it gets into the action of the book quickly from there with the first half being faster-paced. Mara (FMC) and Cyfrin (MMC) have some banter, but i think the author could lean into it even more. i love El, Kain, and Milios (shout out for the enby rep as well) with their found family.
i could mostly guess what the reveal was going to be (not the full extent), but i think any seasoned fantasy reader would but also wouldn't care, it's what we came for. it ends abruptly (not a cliffhanger per se) but has me running to the next book. i'm really interested to see where the story goes.
- interesting original lore / high fantasy - faster pacing for the solid first 50/60% - slowburn romance - found family - secret identity
“Perhaps it is not our darkness that define who we are, but how we choose to rise from the ashes of our wreckage.”

when i picked it up i wasn't sure how much i'd like it, but i was cackling so much at the first few pages alone i got immediately sucked in. the FMC Ava is spunky and hilarious, the prince Torin is actually a pretty standup MMC, and the competition is fierce. while there are tons of laughs, there's also danger and mystery (with a touch of violence). the buildup and chemistry between Ava and Torin is everythinggggg i was literally screaming NOW KISS at my kindle.
i could see the reveal/twist coming most of the book, but i still enjoyed it.
wowowowow I did not expect to get totally sucked into this. I much prefer this book to Feather by far.

The first 10% are a bit slow to start and had a lot of worldbuilding to process (not info dumping, just trying to figure out what/who everything is), but it really picks up once Fallon hears the prophecy.
Wildenstein does an amazing job of creating a vibrant, complex world with its histories and different beings. While some of the tropes are predictable, they're nonetheless enjoyable, and Wildenstein's originality in her story along with its fast pace keeps it fresh and riveting.

I love seeing Graves's urban fantasy world of the Strange expanding. We meet some of Hazel's coven in here, and I liked hearing about their different forms of magic like potion-making. I felt like Vlad fell a bit flat for me and was a bit too stereotypical vampire - Romanian, inhumanly old, searching for something to complete him that he hasn't found yet in his decades of immortal existence. I would have liked a little more to him, but that's difficult to do with a novella that already has a more pressing plot.
Hazel is tall (over 6ft) and plus size, and the spice scenes have a little kink to them.

it's a slowburn but i am fully expecting AKC to give us some extremely hot spice in book 2, which i need ASAP PLS.
this was a fun mix of slightly dark fantasy with humor that had me constantly cackling aloud to myself:
“Did you hear that?” Amma’s sharp whisper cut into Damien’s mind as it began to drift into sleep. He groaned. “You mean that terrifying cry that sounded like a woman being gutted?” “Yes!” “No, I didn’t. Go to sleep.”
waiting patiently for book 2, pls and thanks. ----- spoiler alert, i loved the rest of the series AND the two spinoffs (bound to fall and bound & tied)!! read this now!!!! ...more

I really enjoyed reading this, Peyton is a fun, whimsical witch who makes me chuckle with her witchy puns. I really felt for her being torn about whether or not to give her old flame Roman another chance. I loved the paranormal elements, especially a dog familiar and the siren legend. Also, the ice cream details are just *chef's kiss* (and now I'm hungry).
It is ftb, but I didn't mind. Add this to your list of cozy romances to read in fall (although summer would work just as well for this one!).

The beginning waMove over sunshine x grumpy, this is sunshine x annoying little shit and I fucking love it. The Jester is my new fav fictional man rn.
The beginning was admittedly a little slow for me and a bit of info dumping. It really picks up once The Jester is introduced and omg did that hook me in. The banter, the tension, every scene between them had me kicking my feet in bed squealing. The romance development was excellent throughout the progression of their relationship.
There were things I saw coming but also some surprises. I haven't read a fantasy book w strong political intrigue for a while, and I was really invested in this book's mystery. Sometimes I wanted to give Leyna a hard kick for some of her choices, but her constant internal struggle between what is right and wrong, the disillusionment of achieving our goals, and her sense of identity made her a wonderfully complex and flawed character in the best way.
Tonally, the story would shift between slightly darker medieval-inspired fantasy to very strongly fantasy romance, which was intriguing. I think I'd even compare it as a Magicians (the show, I never read the books) meets FBAA (better character writing though, no hate JLA) meets Folk of the Air series (political intrigue).
I don't usually reread (bc I'm haunted by my neverending TBR), but I will 100% be rereading this just for Jester x Leyna scenes & dynamic.
I'm dying for the next book so I hope you have that ready soon JP bc I NEED MORE....more

When this novella opened with a pumpkin spice chant, I knew I was in for a fun little ride. Pros: d*ck piercing, tail, funny PSL references, interesting lore idea, HEA. Cons: not enough smut detail to really get me off, wanted more scenes with Clove that weren't just sex. I would have preferred the author to condense the 3 hook-up scenes into a single well-detailed and built-up scene instead. Super short novelty read if you want to have a chuckle at the idea of PSL-inspired smut and get into the Halloweenie mood.

Oh, I do love me a sassy (bratty) FMC that can hold her own in a gunfight.
F&F certainly starts off with a bang (or two) and keeps up the energy throughout. Dragons, mafia, undercover hacking, possessive Alpha male, Omegaverse cuddling, hot passionate I hate you but I want you sex, even a double-barrel gun (if you catch my drift). I would love a vacation at Laocoön Bay with any of the three Etoirir brothers. I was cackling at the lines in this book, I love the Tenebra City setting more and more with each book.
Ok I guess I'll learn a thing or two about baseball for the series :P

Oh, this was FUN, I devoured it in a day. It's marketed as a toxic relationship, but I actually wouldn't say that's true (or maybe I'm just really fucked up lmao). They certainly have some communication issues to iron out, and there's definitely that "I kind of hate you so much I need to fuck it out of me" in the beginning, but I think that comes from Grayson being so cocky and spoiled, with a touch of a superiority complex, while Vanessa is stubborn with the need to prove herself worthy of being in the same standing. This is not as fluffy as the Cambric Creek series with a bit of angst, but OOF is the smut good *chef's kiss*. I'm not a big werewolf/knot reader myself, but CMN's writing always has me down for anything. Her ability to write characters and their relationships so well ends up being the main focus anyways, the sex is the cherry on top. I really hope we get to see these characters later on again! Also, I definitely relate to Vanessa the most out of all the Cambric Creek ladies XD...more

I've waited 11 months since joining CMN's Patreon and reading all her shorts, including the MBBC snippet where we first see Moriah and Lowell meeting for their interview and the sparks instantly fly. I NEEDED IT. And I finally got it.
Lowell is an adorable if not a bit overly needy werewolf who suffers v seriously from Middle Child Syndrome and needs all the attention and praise. Moriah is an independent divorcee looking to pursue her dreams of having a baby on her own. Together they make the perfect pairing <3
Since MBBC is in the Cambric Creek series, it's back to all sweet with lots of sides of spicy and smutty. We get to see our tumultuous RRR couple throughout, as well as the other Hemmings, whom I love more and more with each book. (I especially love the scene with Jack Hemming, he really had me cackling). I loved Moriah and Lowell's dynamic so much, and I totally sympathized with Moriah looking back on her marriage thinking "damn we weren't even compatible from the start." I loved how they work things out (withOUT an annoying third-act breakup, no less!!!) and I can't wait to see snippets of them in future Cambric Creek stories.
Here's an actual photo of Lowell throughout the entire book: [image]
