We don’t fully understand the backstory and why he was horrible. We get that his sister died and drowned or whatever but we also don’t get any actual flashbacks or stories about it. It’s just kind of said in passing
He keeps talking about how he was planning on groveling, and he never hast to. He doesn’t even really say I’m sorry and she just jumps right from oh I never thought I’d see you again too. I need to have sex with you in two days.
He gives her some weird note that is kind of a half of an apology. I’m sorry that you got hurt, but I had to do what I had to do type of thing. It’s shitty and stupid.
There’s a magic system that’s not super explained there’s a lot of moving parts that are moving off screen and so you don’t really understand why we’re talking about it if we’re never really gonna see it
And top it all off. It’s 400 pages why ??
A lot of people were saying it was cute and I think the reason is because it’s very low and the drama is not between the two main characters but again because we don’t have any emotional balance put in it just feels like this really big fluffy book for no reason

And that’s a giant red flag for me because it takes a lot to make me sleepy while reading

So this book has weird time jumps where they talk and have emotional feelings or the backstory and then the next page it’ll talk about the fact that tSo this book has weird time jumps where they talk and have emotional feelings or the backstory and then the next page it’ll talk about the fact that they have now been in there for weeks or months And I get that were supposed to have a big time jump due to the fact that in order for the story, Timbergrass believably time needs to change quickly in this house — however, when it’s placed right after something emotional is supposedly happened it’s really difficult to get that emotion a crossed in a way that’s believable and also it feels like a skip in a CD or a weird cut. Take in a movie or a horrible jump ahead.
So that paired with the fact that the writing is pretty juvenile, the spicy scenes are the lowest grade of spice that you can get with having several partners - but there’s also no angst and no real plot and honestly, there’s not a villain at all in the story I guess maybe the house is the villain, but it’s not
So at 73% of the way in I was still extremely bored. I did not care about anyone and I felt like this was a waste of my time.
It’s not very often that I DNF a book that far in, but I genuinely could care less how they get out or if they stay there forever it’s the exact same store either way.
