every single page is intricately crafted in an extremely beautiful and intimate way. at times, it felt like i was reading a friend’s long letter due to Donna Tartt’s ability to envelope the reader with her poignant writing, making it feel more personal than any other book i’ve ever read.
the author’s vision of literature is deeply intertwined with her vision of art, and this book was a perfect demonstration of her philosophy. the way she manipulates the english language in her novels simply blows me away. her attention to detail is truly unmatched in contemporary fiction.
This book, to me, is a true indicator of the power words can have, but most importantly, how they can be assembled to create entrancing works of art and literature.

first reread update: I'm so glad I listened to Donna Tartt's narration of the book, it was absolutely perfect. I'm simply fascinated by this woman. patiently waiting for her next book now......more
