I have a confession to make. I went into this hating Ferrara for what he did to Damiano. I didn't forgive him but I still like him with all his faults.
I was so happy when we got Rafael's pov. I was so excited to find out what he thought about Nate. Turns out all he thought about Nate before the last twenty pages (While Nate was busy falling head over heals for him) was that he was insolent and amusing. Isn't that just so great?
I only started liking his character when he started tracking Nate on the cameras and he started making excuses to show up at his department. He also gave us this line,
“You did something to me.” “What are you talking about?” “You turned me into an idiot.” [...] “I can’t fucking focus on my work,” he ground out. “I’m either thinking of you or trying not to think of you. When I’m not stalking you through security cameras, I somehow end up on the second floor, and then I have to come up with ridiculous excuses for being there.” He chuckled, the sound devoid of amusement. “This is not me. I feel like a goddamn idiot—but I can’t stop.”
“I…” Raffaele looked at him for a moment, his throat working. And then he said, his voice somehow rough and soft at the same time, “Ti amo.”
Nate annoyed me sometimes. Every time I thought this man is finally gonna stand up he just goes back to acting like a love sick fool.
Nate swallowed. He tried to summon the anger he’d felt just a few moments ago, but his thoughts kept scattering, the familiar urge to please this man creeping back.
This was fun in the beginning but it just started to get annoying.
But I started liking him when he got a new job and actually started avoiding Rafael and stopped acting like a goddamn fool when he was around,
“Is there anything else you wanted, Mr. Ferrara?” Nate said in the same neutral, nauseatingly detached tone of voice. Raffaele clenched his jaw. Had he really gotten over him so fast? What happened to “the world feels dull without you”?
I did like these two and their whole I hate you but I can't resist you shit they got going on. I also loved that we got to see Roman and Luke being a couple. I just wished they got to know each other a bit instead of sex being the only reason they were together.

I didn't read the other books in this series but I did read The last mortals series so I was familiar to this world but I still think you can read this book as a standalone.
One of the main reasons I picked this up is because of the reincarnation trope. I love second chance romance and this was the ultimate second chance romance. Jory (Human) and Mordyn (Vampire) have a falling out which leads to Jory's death and the severing of their mate bond. Fate decides to give Jordyn (Yes I gave them a couple name SO WHAT?) a second chance and Jory is reborn but Apollo (Jory 2.0) is working for an organization to help rescue humans from being kept as blood slaves by vampires. Obviously he hates vampires ever since they killed his sister and thinks the world would be better without vampires in it. Will Mordyn be able to convince him not all vampires are evil? And will he be able to fight the pull he feels toward Mordyn?
I did really enjoy their push and pull but I feel it lasted a little bit too long. I would have loved to see a bit more of them being all cuddly and in love. There were some exciting and interesting unveiling of powers highlighted in this book that I would love to see more of in the upcoming books. Idk if Keegan will get a book but I wanna see him get a HEA.

Caspian:
I don't know if I liked him or hated him coz look at what he said to Rowan,
"You talk an awful fucking lot. Anybody ever told you that before?" He chuckles. "Oh yeah, once or twice? "So, shut the fuck up."
Not cool bro. I know he's supposed to be grumpy but if somene said that to me the earth better open up and swallow me whole. And this is what Rowan says about his therapist,
"..she makes me feel like what I have to say matters. Like she wants to hear it all. She never makes me feel like a bother, or like I annoy her, like everyone else in my life does."
But at the same time this is what his inner monologue looks like,
"Rowan. The annoying fucking guy who I can't stand most of the time. The beautiful, sexy man writhing underneath me. The one I think about more than I'd care to admit. The one who somehow manages to chip away at my walls, even if only for a few hours at a time before I'm able to find my senses outside of his presence and put them firmly back in place... until the next time. The one whose lips taste like spearmint and longing. Whose eyes are endless, reminding me of the beautiful landscape and luscious pastures back home. Reminding me of an easier time. A freer time. When the world was still at my fingertips. Before everything went to shit." PICK A SIDE BRO
Another thing I hated is how he always messes up but Rowan is the one who apologizes and tries to save their relationship and that just mad me so freaking mad.
"Sex has always been the one way i can make people see how great l am. It's how I can make people feel better. Sometimes I can be annoying with the things i say, but my body... My body can make everything right again."
This was Rowan trying to think of a way to make Caspian feel good.
Rowan:
I really loved him. He is the first book character that I related to. Everyone with abandonment issues RISE UP!
"I don't know why I lied. It's something I tend to do often, without even meaning to."

How can you not love this man after what he did to cheer up Caspian?!

I am still so freaking mad that rowan had to buy thirty concert tickets just to explain what happened to Caspian after Caspian freaking punched him. (He is filthy rich tho) Other than Caspian being so annoying somtimes i did enjoy this book. Plus the sex was amazing (Especially the forest scene and the morning after)
It's like whoever packed this bag for us, did it with the intention of filthy sex. Why else would there have been rope and lotion?

This book was intense, suspenseful, thrilling and so freaking hot. The world building wasnt great but the romance more than made up for it. I loved seeing Cassius and Graeme grow from enemies to lovers. These two were literally more powerful when they were together.
This book had great potential to be a true ENEMIES to loers but the author had to ruin it by making them lust for each other too soon.

This book reminded me of throne of Glass am not taking about the Fmcs those two could not be any more different. Am talking about the trials and the dragons maybe that's why I liked it this much.
One thing I hated was the way the author kept reminding us how 'Breakable' and 'Tiny' Violet is

Why is this book advertised as enemies to lovers slow burn? These two are obsessed with each other from the beginning of the book.

They also kiss like less than 300 pages in the book. I don't know about you but I want my slow burn to be three books like the All for the Game trilogy. I wouldn't even classify this as hate to love.
Don't get me wrong the romance was good I just wasnt that invested it. They did have their moments tho.

One thing about me is I will always give the 'guy that likes the fmc but doesn't end up with her' a chance just like I did with Tamlin and Adam Kent and just like both of those situations I ended up hating Dain. That man got on my nerves so much. I was willing to overlook all the shit he did but the shit he pulled at the end is unforgivable.
All things considered I did like this book but I don't think I'll pick up the second one. maybe when the third book is out am gonna try to read them both.✌...more

I think the reason I didn't feel connected to the characters is because the book started with them already knowing each other and some already being in love. That was not what I expected when I read the blurb,

I would have loved it if we got to experience them getting to know each other and watch their feelings for each other grow. One thing I really loved was the flashbacks to Kaz's past. My man has been through so much I would have loved to see him get his revenge on that slimy bitch Pekka Rollins.
There were also too many descriptions that I started to skim and there was hardly any dialogue. I thought I would love Jasper and Waylon's relationship but there wasn't even a relationship between them all we got was jasper pinning after kaz and him being jealous of Inej. I would love it if Waylon got his own pov in the next book.
What I did love was Matthias and Nina's relationship. I am a slut for the witch and witch hunter trope so obviously their relationship was the one I loved the most in the book.
