And yet, I was left completely satisfied with the character development and couldn't help falling in love with Coop and Julia as they stumbled their way into love.
After a night of drinking, three friends - Coop, Jag, & Mac - decide it would be a good idea to invite the ones that got away down to their dude ranch for a week to see if sparks would fly or sizzle out. Chase Cooper sent an invitation to his gal friend from high school - a girl named Mia whose twin sister was Coop's secret crush. When the invitation arrives, it's Julia who receives it. Having no idea who it's from, she decides on a whim to show up in her sister's place. As she walks off the plane, she is shocked to see Coop waiting. The truth is - she's always had a crush on him too. And so their story begins.
The next week is spent getting to know each other - both in and out of bed. It's obvious they are sexually compatible, but Julia wants someone to want HER, not her sister. Coop is looking for a permanent relationship, and he believes he's found it in Julia. But mishaps, misunderstandings, and secrets threatened to destroy the relationship before it gets off the ground. Lonely, hurting, and more than a little drunk, a person reaches out with a distress signal via text - not really expecting an answer. Shockingly, someone responds - tossing out a lifeline via a return text – offering a willing ear, a few encouraging words. And thus slowly, a friendship begins that grows over time to an intimate affair . . . all via texts. I admit I was skeptical going in – not sure an erotic romance could be adequately relayed without any personal contact between the characters. I’ll have to say these authors proved me wrong.
Through text messages, two people are stripped naked as they each bare their souls to a stranger – each safe in their own little world. At first, they have no idea whether they are “talking” to a male or female – not knowing the other’s name, age, physical attributes, or personal situation. As the story plays out, they begin to engage in a type of game ultimately sharing more personal details including their most intimate desires and fantasies. Safe in their cloak of secrecy, – after all, they both know they’ll never meet - their games grow to an erotic fever that erupts into a shared intimacy that many couples never accomplish in the flesh. To say it’s erotic and hot is a gross understatement – it is indeed as flammable as gasoline! Lost in an avalanche of desire, they cross a line that neither may survive.
Way Down Deep is a raw, riveting, seductive character driven story that I read in mostly one sitting. Surprisingly, it has a very intimate and honest feel to it as it becomes clear these two lost characters were brought together by fate. The plot line is intriguing as there are other things at play here that I won’t reveal due to spoilers, but through a series of twists and turns, readers learn what brought each person to this place and time. I had my doubts that a virtual erotic romance was possible – but in this case, it works! A Must Read!

Unfortunately, she's greeted at the door by Jude, her brother's best friend and best man and her lifelong nemesis. He's home for Colin's upcoming wedding and also staying in Colin's home. Forced into close proximity for the duration of the wedding, the sparks and snarky remarks fly. However, it isn't long before the pair of misfits decide that fake dating will solve issues for both of them. Jude is suffering from PTSD, home from his tour as a surgeon in war-torn countries and struggling to make sense of the horrors he's seen. He needs support in social situations, and Indira needs someone by her side as she's forced to watch her now ex with the new girlfriend at wedding events. The two strike a deal. But what happens when the fake dating begins to feel real?
The Plus One is a beautiful blend of humor, sizzling chemistry and serious mental topics all rolled into a delightful romance. The author tackles issues like PTSD, anxiety and therapy with understanding and grace blending them into a growing relationship with some lighthearted humor. The characters are well-fleshed out and highly enjoyable. I enjoyed the audiobook version of this book with narration expertly delivered by Imani Jade Powers and Joe Arden. I love that but even more I love the depth of plot line and real story you'll find in this book. The story is well crafted and authentic with all the small town feels. I enjoyed seeing Archer and catching up with him and his love. This story is about family, repairing relationships and exploring new ones. It's about letting go of the past and embracing the future. I do read and review LGBTQ books so that didn't play into my decision to give it a chance. At any rate, I'm so glad I did! What a jewel!

Oh my goodness, For the Love of April French is a pure delight to read! I could not believe what a sweet, caring romance this book turned out to be. It's not simple, in fact the story becomes convoluted with some major issues to be worked through, but Dennis's undying devotion in pursuing April and making the relationship work was beautiful to witness. The emergence of the real April French was also a wonderful experience - from being wary and vulnerable to the constant scrutiny of her appearance and confusion over her gender to a loving, confident woman ready to welcome her own forever. I loved every single moment and page of this book. I didn't expect to, but trust me friends - this story is beautifully crafted and written. It delivers on the romance, the trans gender elements, the kink, the love story and the education on so many things I had no idea about. Fans of romance, kinky romance and/or just great love stories will adore this couple and book. Highly recommended.
