One in particular. When I finally got my hands on this story not only did it have a Title change but the beginning of the story changed as well. But what Claire Wilder changed about the story I loved even more and it made the story that much better.
What would make a grown woman jump into the freezing cold Canadian water during early Spring? That has always been my biggest question in this story. It was one of the main reasons I needed this story after reading the excerpt. However, having a tumultuous relationship with a parent I now get it. No matter how hard you try you will just never be enough. You just get to a point in your life where you can’t take it any longer and you jump off the metaphorical dock (or not so metaphorical dock) and start to take your life back. I understood where Bryony was coming from.
I loved Bryony for diving into the water. Sometimes drastic times call for drastic measures and I loved that she did it. She is a hard worker and doesn’t expect the world to bend to her will just because she came from money. She has her own successful business and she was on a mission to find her grandmother. But that isn’t all she would discover.
Mac is the grumpiest yet kindest community loving man in this small Canadian town. He discovers Bryony when Stu spots her heading to shore. Mac of course had the same question I had. Why is there a woman in the cold Canadian water this time of year? And she was fully dressed! What Mac never expected was to feel a fierce protectiveness for Bryony. It was a feeling that he had never felt before with any other women.
Through their time together Mac and Bry discover they have a lot in common. Some of it from their personal baggage that they each carried from their pasts. Together they find a way to help each other with their guilt. They also discover what truly makes each of them happy. What makes each of them stronger and eventually they discover they are each other's missing piece. They have some help along the way that adds to the small town charm of the story. This is a must read for anyone who loves small town, grumpy/sunshine stories. It is a standalone and you won’t regret it. ...more

I needed something with heat but lighthearted to read and this was it.
I love Ava! She’s fierce and fights for what she wants. She isn’t exactly patient, which I completely relate too, but strives for what she wants and isn’t happy u til she gets it. Even if it means she needs to walk away for a bit.
I don’t know if there will ever be a Nash brother I don’t love. I mean Linc is my fave but the growth that came from Gray was awesome to see unfold. Also, dealing with your parents divorce as an adult is just as messed up as if you were a child. I understood his fear because I am a runner.
There was so much relatability in this standalone I couldn’t put it down. I loved the twist and turns. I loved the “Doh” moments when I wanted to dope slap them both. At the end, they made it work for them and I thoroughly enjoyed this book. ...more
When I started this book I wasn’t sure what holiday it would be about. I have read others and they are Rich Girl, by Andie Bale (Holidates Series #30)
When I started this book I wasn’t sure what holiday it would be about. I have read others and they are usually centered around Christmas or New Year’s. When I figured out what holiday it was I laughed. Cinco de Mayo is only an American holiday. Yes we typically drink and eat Mexican foods however, Mexicans don’t actually celebrate it. Google it, it’s a fact. With that being said I liked this book. It was a little bit unrealistic but that’s what this genre is anyways.
Rich girl, Hayden Benedict is socialite status in Boston. She comes from more money than most of us will see combined ever. She is dumped by her longtime floundering boyfriend and she takes matters into her own hands and I love her for it. This is something I would have done in my twenties. She finds an instant attraction with Ray through the Holidates app and has to do a bit of manipulation to get to know him. She has a wedding she is in and her ex-boyfriend will be there with someone else and needs Ray to be her date for the event. I love a good revenge story. However, it never really gets there. I wish it had. Everything hits the fan but for a different reason altogether.
Ray Parker’s friends dare him to use the app for a Cinco de Mayo party they are going to in the Hampton's but Ray got more than he bargained for. I really loved Ray. He was skeptical from the beginning and not afraid to call out Hayden when she was being a snob. He knew things didn’t add up immediately but was falling harder everyday for her. He also knew even though he had money he was beneath her status. He owned his family tow company and was a tow truck driver from a small town, but he had felt an instant connection that he couldn’t let go of, and he paid the ultimate price.
There were things I loved about this story. I loved Hayden for attempting small town living. I loved Ray for pushing her to be a better version of herself and to let Hayden’s hair down. I loved his friends and their girlfriends. They opened their arms and accepted Hayden at face value and that is so rare. It’s a cute feel good story that if you need a pick me up will be a perfect read. It’s not an intricate book but it’s cute. ...more

Every time I read a book from the Sawyers Bend series I instantly want to go back and reread them all. This series is so amazing. I want to find a place like Sawyers Bend and since I live in North Carolina I really want to discover this place. The Sawyers have been through so much since book 1 and I am so attached to all of them. It’s a testament to Ivy Layne’s writing skills and character development.
This book is Quinn Sawyer's book. Quinn has popped up in the other five books and we got glimpses that she had suffered some sort of trauma which was why she was self-medicating herself. I wasn’t prepared for how much trauma. We know from the last book of The Untangled Series, Uncovered, that Griffen Sawyer had to go back to the town he was exiled from. That his father Prentice was a disgusting piece of work. What we continued to learn was that Prentice was diabolical and used all his children as pons. My heart ached for Quinn and wow, did I cry.
The fact that she has been living with all of this trauma for over ten years with only her brother who is now in jail knowing, is a testament to her strength. She is amazing. This book made me think and try to put the pieces together throughout this story. I was so glad she had someone like Hawk looking out for her and supporting her throughout the story.
Hawk Bristol has been head of security for the Sawyer’s since book 1. He came from Sinclair Security with Griffen. I actually thought he was older than he is in the other books because he is such a recluse. What we find out in this book is that he has been through a lot of trauma and takes the safety of The Sawyer's personally. He has always watched Quinn in a protective way and after she gets attacked in the woods they bond in a way that is devastatingly beautiful. Hawk is a protector in all ways and once he deals with his feelings of guilt and shame he is romantic too.
I loved this story. I would suggest that you read the other books in the series before you read this one. I personally don’t think it can be read as a standalone because of all the details. There is a reading order for all of Ivy’s series however, I didn’t read them in order. The questions I had were eventually answered once I read the series that back filled my questions. I have loved them all! Ivy Layne...more
It’s baseball season and the final book of Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded is just in time for it. Does Alexis(Lex) and Danny (DJ)Grand Slam by Lisa Suzanne
It’s baseball season and the final book of Vegas Heat: Bases Loaded is just in time for it. Does Alexis(Lex) and Danny (DJ) get their HEA? YES! FINALLY! I was surprised by how it all went down. I’m happy to report Danny gets his man card back!
What I loved about this book. Finally, Danny takes control of their situations. Yes! I repeat finally!! However, it cost him, but it all works out in the end. Finally, Lex finds her backbone and goes against everything her father demands of her. I loved the way they fight for each other in this book. I also love Danny’s compassion for others. It’s real.
Things I wish it had more of. I wish there was more angst and a feeling of anger towards the individuals that played a role in why all this was happening to Lex. Why she was being controlled and who were pulling the strings. I just needed a bit more feeling in all these books. I hated her father and his but we find others that could have really changed my opinion of this series. I’m not sure it ever hit “Rapunzel Vibes” for me.
With that being said, I love Lisa’s Sports Romance stories. This book was the best of the series and was happy how it all came together in the end....more

Danny and Alexis had 8 days to spend together after she ran out on her wedding leaving Brooks and her father at the altar.
While Danny pouts in his room Alexis has taken her bodyguards suv and driven herself to Danny’s hotel room. I was really hoping Danny would show up at the wedding ceremony to stop it but he didn’t. I feel like “the playboy of baseball” has become lost and should have his man card taken away.
Alexis however has taken her life back and has FINALLY made her choice. Their entire relationship has been a secret which frustrates me to no end. Now they need to go public and I am hoping it all hits the fan in book 5. That they finally put both their father’s in their place so that they can live their HEA. ...more

I can’t even with Danny Brewer too. Good lord! He’s hot and his dedication and loyalty towards Alexis is fire. Nothing like a playboy turned alpha male who fights for what he wants. I can’t wait to see what happens between them after this cliffhanger! ...more

Mother Pucker is such a different type of story for Swati and I freaking loved it. There is something extremely sexy about a man who knows what and who he wants, and is persistent about it. Add in the fact that Rowan plays hockey in Boston and he has totally won my heart. The only thing better would have been if Rowan’s hockey number was 8 (IYKYK).
Shayla is a walking contradiction but who isn’t or hasn’t been at times. Shay is very relatable but has a lot of baggage. For me I can’t imagine going through the things that Shay has and I can relate with losing who I am and what I wanted because of my family. I am a Mom, a wife and after that I have no idea. Shay likes to hover over Kai. She controls his food, his schooling, and even his fun. That’s where we differ because I would let my kids live off PB & J if I could get away with it.
Everyone in the house eventually loves Rowan. For one he loosens up Shay and she finally relaxes a bit, but it took a lot of persuasion. Their story is quite the roller coaster ride. At times they are funny, the snark is real, especially one iconic scene that involves a vibrating purse, but I digress. Thankfully, Shay and Kai live in the brownstone with 13 other people and a family of raccoons. They all step up and help each other and it’s amazing to watch happen. As a reader you can sit back and see these men who have all this money and their lives put together until they meet their match. Then watch everything unravel in the best possible way. ...more

Jenni had me laughing right from the start of this story. I was laughing out loud because the dynamic between Dippy Doo (Dylan) and Beckett immediately spills over from book 1 and they are hilarious. I love that Dylan is so flighty but is the one person in this house of Mom's that sees the big picture and what Beckett is up too. She is extremely perceptive, patient, graceful, and unbelievably funny. Her witt is unstoppable.
Cortney Miller is a man with many layers. He's a baseball catcher who Beckett traded for mid-season. He is extremely detail oriented, over-thinks, and a neat freak. Cort never wanted to settle down but some things can't be helped. He instantly fell for Dylan the moment he saw her and after one hot and steamy night together the universe stepped in and I was so here for it.
I loved that Cort moved into what I call a "Clown House." It's like a clown car only it's a house not a car. Twelve people live in this house all together and a family of raccoons. I laughed so hard at times I thought I was going to pee my pants. Jenni Bara nailed Dylan as well as Cortney. Their strengths and their insecurities. They balanced each other perfectly. It's a must read!...more

Mother Faker has some of my favorite tropes in Contemporary Romance. Billionaire, Workplace romance, Fake Marriage, Sports Romance, Grumpy/Sunshine, Forced Proximity, One Bed, single parent, all wrapped in a RomCom.
Beckett Langfield, watching this grumpy, billionaire, workaholic, have a “come to Jesus” moment over a woman that is recently divorced and has three children made all the butterflies take flight in my heart. How his feelings had unfolded throughout this story and how his family knew all along how Beckett felt about Liv was hilarious. His brothers knew how he felt for years and seeing Beckett stumble was funny and relatable.
Olivia, Liv, Livvy, oh how I love Liv. I love all the moms in this series, but Liv’s self esteem and her lack thereof is so relatable. She is burning the candle at both ends. If she didn’t live with her best friends she probably couldn’t get everything in her life done. She loves her job working as a PR director of Boston’s baseball team that Beckett runs. I love that she never sees that the deal she makes with Beckett turns into the best thing to ever happen to her. So many things happen in this book I can’t possibly put it all in this review. Oh, the ex-husband was a topic of conversation on his own.
You need to read this book! This series has been funny and relatable. Mother Faker was a much needed romcom for January. ...more

Melanie Moreland has pushed all the boundaries in this book. This book is funny, sexy (the sex scenes are spicy hot), and Violet is a strong female character. She's independent and her mouth has no filter. If I was a character in a book, I'd be Violet. This book is like The Boss on steroids.
I love Aldo!!! He is an incredibly sexy alpha male and protective of Vi. He is in such denial about his feelings, especially where Vi is concerned. I also love a man who is deeply loyal. Aldo is Roman's best friend and right hand man at the casino and in all other things. Their backstory is sad but the bond is strong and unbreakable.
I also love a tall, brooding man in a suit. Add in traits like possessiveness and over protective alpha male into a character and he's mine! All mine! The added bonus is his sarcasm. His sarcasm is on point with Roman and Vi. He is hilarious. And the banter between Aldo and Violet is awesome.
I can't say enough about this book. I can't wait for Roman. This is definitely morally grey but with a side of snark. I couldn't put it down....more
