I also like that though Gar and Raven have insta love it's not juped up to where thats the only thing that matters, and I do think they have a well written banter and relationship, even if it does progress somewhat quickly.

I'm interested to see who else will be recruited for this project. We already have a Starfire book announced, and I am pretty sure there will be Cyborg as well. Super excited to continue!

We have Andy who is a huge fan of the wrestler Killer Croc, who is a friend of his fathers. He gets to meet him at one point and this leads to him helping him out while he's on the run. I felt like Andy was a bit naive when he blindly trusted Killer Croc, but I do like Croc helped him with his bully problem. The art is not my favorite, but it does fit for middle grade, and it's not bad just not my personal fave. I love the way Croc's tail is exaggerated though, and the bright colors. I also like how we get to see Croc's pain and loneliness in a few scenes. Check out my YouTube channel for bookish videos and monthly wrap ups! ...more

The social issues in this one were much more integrated into the story, and felt like they had some depth. I do wish we knew more about Ivy's powers here, but they are there and it seams rather obvious how she got them. I feel like this stayed pretty true to Ivy as well, though I've not read a lot with her. Check out my YouTube channel for bookish videos and monthly wrap ups! ...more

The Court Of Owls has taken over and taken all female rights, along with their singing voices. How exactly a gas could take away only the ability to sing, and not just the voice in general and how it could be gender specific I'm not sure either. I also found the choice of music referenced to be odd- opera and the Beatles are not so much todays teens music. Yes, the Owls took over twenty years ago but there were plenty of singers then too. It just felt odd to use such old music, and then when women could sing again so much changed in 4 months. Again, for the average girl or woman, why would that make such a huge difference? They can still speak so... This would have benefitted from more in depth exploring of why singing exactly, more than just "Oh they sang protest songs" I did like this quote from one of Dinah's songs You're my shattered fairy tale You're my broken dream...more
