I had a pleasure of listening to the audiobook, which is narrated by the author herself. At times, during my walk, or at gym, I found myself laughing out loud at the way the author has narrated, specially how Mrs Binat talked. It was extremely entertaining and I’m sure that no other person could narrate the book so well than the author herself. It’s beautifully written, with lots of funny scenes that actually make you laugh. If you’re looking for something that makes you smile while reading, and also curb your appetite for a bit of romance, then add it to your reading list. **Five stars!!...more

I didn’t know elephant grieves just like humans. When a mother elephant dies, the baby elephant also does with her, grieving. And same is for the mother. How the book turned in the end—I was taken completely off-guard. Beautifully written story, which is Judi Picoult’s forte, another wonderfully crafted story by her. I listened to the audiobook. Very moving. **FIVE STARS...more

I’ve always admired Jodi Picoult’s work. The book discusses the very sensitive topic—racism, which is an evil bug in our society. A bug that everyone carries but no one admits. The story makes you realize that at some point of your life, despite you refuse to admit, you’re judgemental and racist. The story starts with an African American woman, who works in a hospital for twenty years as neonatal nurse, taking care of new born babies. One day, she checks a child of a white supremacist, who complains about the nurse and makes sure she never touches his baby. Due to some medical reasons, the baby dies and the father of the baby charges the black nurse guilty, as she was present in the same room where all other nurses and doctors were present. Why is she charged for the murder? Because she is a black woman. Because the hospital thinks it’s convenient to make her a scapegoat than taking the blame. The case is fought by a white woman, who later on realizes that this case is not about a child’s death but racism. A beautiful plot that keeps you hooked. **FIVE STARS...more

The story flows smoothly and almost lyrical -- our MC Daniel, mourning at the loss of his mother, finds himself lost in the bookstore called the Cemetery of Forgotten Books. Here, the books that are kept are the ones not available anywhere in the market and who, once you pick, belongs only to you. Danial also selects one book that changes his life. In the pursuit of finding its author who is lost in time, Danial sets out on a campaign to find the author, and meets people from different backgrounds, makes new friends, falls in love, all being still looking for the book mystery. It is a beautifully written book and if you are an audiobook person then I'd highly recommend listening to the audiobook. The background music at the start and end of the chapters is mesmerizing, creating a state of trance when you're engrossed in the story.
