Character driven novels are my jam, and this one was all about the relationships, so if you’re wanting fast paced plot etc, this one probably won’t be for you - but I loved it, and devoured it in a day.
This book is so very much more than the sexy times - they were there (and they were good), but it was really all about the feels. Le sigh. Sure, I don’t love the failure to communicate trope (and harshly knocked off half a star because of it), but the author somehow made it work? Special mention must go to Waldo, too. Can’t wait to read more from this author, this was a gem I could have kept reading for longer..

There was a time or two where I was almost nervous to continue because I thought that maybe this book was about to wreck me.
Utterly compelling reading, and I’m sad that this talented author doesn’t seem to be writing anymore.
Be warned, this book won’t be for everyone, and it crossed many, many boundaries for me, and yet…it was strangely brilliant....more

The melding of past and present views was masterful, and the characterisation…just wow. I still don’t know what to think about one in particular. Dark, gritty, and brilliantly done. Not perfect, but any book that I find myself thinking about constantly, and wanting to read instead of doing pretty much anything else is a rarity to be appreciated.
4.5 stars, but heed the trigger warnings, this was an uncomfortable read....more

Loved the premise, loved the characters, and loved the sweet and steamy goodness with kink that’s right up my alley. Apparently there’s a bonus chapter that I didn’t read, and based on the what apparently happens in that chapter, I’m super glad I didn’t. These two were perfect on their own.
I’m sure many people are staying away from this series because of the incredibly lame titles. I know I did, but I’m so glad I gave them a chance. The titles really do the books a disservice.

I normally don’t read books this long, I have too short of an attention span, but I’m so glad I didn’t miss this epic, epic love story spanning over a thousand years. Mystery, romance, action, suspense….loved it. I can’t recall how I found it but it deserves way more attention than it has so despite not being perfect, I’m rounding up!

If the trigger warnings even give you a hint of a pause, stop. Don’t go any further, because this was way, way more than you expect. These books are a little formulaic but it works, so I just don’t care - too busy enjoying it!

I absolutely loved this series. Usually when I finish a series, even a good one, I’m happy to move on to the next, but I’m sad this has ended and I’d I absolutely loved this series. Usually when I finish a series, even a good one, I’m happy to move on to the next, but I’m sad this has ended and I’d be very happy to stay in this world with these characters. This was such a fun series, and even with the insta-love and additions to the harem (I usually don’t Iike that), it just worked! Great characterisation, great writing, and nothing, I mean nothing, annoyed me about it. Amazing! Can’t wait to read more from this author.

I’ve become used to reading shorter books so usually with a book this length there comes a point where I just wish it would hurry up and end already. Not so with this gothic fantasy. I loved both the past and present perspectives and was equally happy to read both.
Really looking forward to more from this series and so happy I have a backlist from this author to glom!

It wasn’t just a rehash of the previous rejected mate story (another thing I was a little nervous about), but this as very different and the reason for the rejection felt more understandable. I really liked both characters, too.
This was one of those books for me where I thought about it often during the work day, counting down until I could get back to it. Love when books hit me like that!...more
