I love stories about obsession, and this book definitely had a lot of that. There was also so much interesting social commentary packed into this short book that I really enjoyed. There were so many interesting conversations about feminism, race, and class that I thought made the story very thought provoking. I was hoping the end would get a little more unhinged / weird, so it wasn't a perfect read for me, but I really enjoyed my time reading this book.

I think this is my all-time favorite f/f romance. I absolutely ADORED these two. I'm not the biggest fan of friends to lovers usually, but apparently,I think this is my all-time favorite f/f romance. I absolutely ADORED these two. I'm not the biggest fan of friends to lovers usually, but apparently, I'm way more into this trope if it's gay lol. I love that we get two timelines, one in the present day and one ten years ago when they were roommates in college. I loved getting to see their friendship develop over time and how they didn't like each other at the beginning, because one of them was a total mean girl, but it created the best tension between them, and I was rooting for them from the start. I love the Riley works for a news station in Boston (so cool!) and that Gianna is an influencer who's been running her own business for 9 years (like how wild that I've also had my YouTube channel for 9 years this month!!!) I found Gianna to be really relatable the way she would talk about being an 'influencer' and what it can be like working for yourself.
I was GIDDY, screaming, kicking my feet and shit over them. It was the perfect amount of SLOW BURN too, like things don't happen right away and this book is lengthy, because it builds the tension between them, and I LOVED that.
I wanted so much more from this. I was so excited at the idea of a book about a game show where people compete for ten million dollars. But I thought I wanted so much more from this. I was so excited at the idea of a book about a game show where people compete for ten million dollars. But I thought the games were actually so boring? And not that interesting, a little over the top and ridiculous but in a cringey way. I thought some of the twists were so obvious. All the characters read like one dimensional stereotype. The first half I almost debated giving this book one or two stars, but the second half improved quite a bit, enough for me to raise the rating to 3 stars. Even though I still think it ended up being pretty predictable. For a book about a game show, it should not have been this boring.
This felt like more of a romantic drama than a thriller for me. This book was so incredibly boring, nothing really happens. I loved the atmosphere of This felt like more of a romantic drama than a thriller for me. This book was so incredibly boring, nothing really happens. I loved the atmosphere of the woods in Idaho, but I didn't connect with any of the characters, and most of the story was about this messy love triangle I couldn't care less about.

I was a big fan of The Night Swim, so I was really looking forward to this sequel where we follow the same podcaster, Rachel. This one was especially interesting to me because it follows the story of an influencer getting kidnapped and abducted, and Rachel dives deep into the world of social media influencers and social climbers. As someone who is a full time content creator myself, I thought the observations she would make about influencers to be pretty hilarious and spot on. I actually also found some of it relatable, like when they said: “What people don’t realize is that being an influencer is like feeding a monster. An insatiable monster. Nothing is ever enough. No matter how much you give, there’s always someone giving more.”
I liked the podcast elements of this book, the audiobook was fantastic and it sounded like a real podcast which was cool! The ending was a little underwhelming and predictable for me, I wasn’t super shocked by any of the twists, and I could’ve done without the hint of romance happening in the second half of this book, but otherwise I had a fun time and it was a super quick read! ...more

I will warn you that even though this book has a cute cover, there is a lot of steamy sex scenes in this book, I'm talking Tessa Bailey level sex scenes hahaha. I wasn't really expecting that but I don't mind it. I love the 'hidden identity' trope where they don't know that they previously knew each other online, it's so fun. I also love the protagonist and the relationship she forms with his daughter; it was very wholesome. This isn't a perfect romance book for me, it was a little long, and there was a point where the story didn't feel like it was moving forward and it was just sex scene after sex scene, but I had a fun time reading it. ...more

I am a SUCKER for the roommates to lovers trope, and this book just really worked for me. I love that the protagonist has a book Instagram and a BookTok account, it was very relatable for me. I also absolutely adore the love interest in this book, he's a firefighter but he's also incredibly sensitive and soft. I also love that the protagonist is such a swiftie, and she mentions Taylor and her music so many times it's great. The ending was a tad cheesy for my taste, but I loved this so so so much.

I don't even really know how to pitch this book or what genre this would fit into, it doesn't really fit into the horror genre in my mind. The first half read a lot like satire, which is probably the point. I guess this just isn't exactly what I was expecting?

This book feels like The Hate U Give meets Monday's Not Coming which are two other books I really enjoyed! Very beautiful story about sisters that is written by sisters! And this book has great social commentary on police brutality, much like The Hate U Give.

I actually liked both of the main characters a lot, I like that we get both of their POV’s, but damn!!! This book was sad. It was so much heavier than I was anticipating — especially considering the first two books in this romance series were pretty light hearted for the most part. I know life can be hard and sad, but most of the time I read romance to escape it and this was just so dark and a lot more sad than I was anticipating! I felt the same when I read The Heart Principle earlier this year, I just hate when a romance book in a mostly light-hearted series ends up being soooo heavy and sad.
Also, this is a mild spoiler but I absolutely hate the way this author ends her stories. (view spoiler)[I felt the same about The Friend Zone, and now with this one… what is it with this author having the protagonist have a serious illness or a serious problem that’s life threatening or it affects their life in a serious way, and then by the end of the book it’s like, poof it’s gone it was all a misunderstanding. It’s so ridiculous!!! Like people actually exist with these kind of problems and they deserve happy endings too? I just hate these bull shit ridiculous endings. It’s kind of offensive tbh (hide spoiler)]
Despite my issues with the ending of this book, I do enjoy this authors writing and I’m still going to pick up her books; I just read the premise for her new release coming out next year and it sounds promising....more

I am super intrigued by the concept of this book, but the execution of it just fell so flat for me and I thought it was either really boring or really cringe-y, and the main character drove me nuts at some parts.
I also learned something about my reading taste, because I always thought I enjoyed reading about famous people dealing with fame, but I realized I don’t like stories that follow people that go viral and become super internet famous overnight. I prefer to read about famous people like actors/directors or musicians, rather than internet famous people ...more

I absolutely loved this authors last book Mrs. Everything, so when I got this ARC in the mail I dropped everything so I could read it, and I consumed this entire book in one day. I think it’s best to go into this book knowing absolutely NOTHING, cause you will be so surprised, so read this review at your own risk.
This story follows this woman named Daphne who is an Instagram influencer and she posts a lot of fashion and fitness posts for plus size women. She had this childhood friend named Drue who was more of a bully than a friend and she was always gaslighting her and manipulating her and she’s rich, a real Regina George type. They had a falling out in college when Drue made her feel exceptionally shitty. This book takes place six years later when Drue gets in touch with Daphne again asking her to be a bridesmaid in her wedding because she doesn’t have any other friends. I love reading books about complicated toxic female friendships, I find them absolutely fascinating.
At the end of part one this had the most unexpected plot twist???? I was so shook and so surprised and I love when authors can surprise me like this. I didn’t notice the genre “mystery” listed on this book until after I finished it, so I was very excited about the mysterious plot line happening in this book.
The end of this got a little too cringe-y and lifetime drama for me, but I still think this was a highly entertaining story that I had to finish all in one night because I HAD to know where it was going.
Definitely be sure to check this one out when it comes out in May! Thanks to Atria Books for the ARC ...more
