If you're into the "toxic relationship" troupe you'll like this one then. I literally have no clue what I am picking up other than it's Dramione fanfic so therefore I am in for a good enemies to lovers.
This one has that toxic/trauma/healing/changing people troupe that is not healthy and at times disturbing.
Hermione is traumatized after the war and can't seem to move on. Draco is a messed up person with more to him than meets the eye. They hate each other but there is an underline attraction there that causes them to be magnetized to the other, and causes them to make bad choices and yet a way for them to heal (in an unrealistic way- they all need therapy in this book in my opinion haha).
Overall I still couldn't put it down it was interesting and I enjoyed many things about it.

The beginning gives an engaging portrayal of Niamh's introduction to the court and her relationship with Kit. I loved how grouchy Kit was through most of the book which I appreciated. The forbidden romance and the magical elements, specifically Niamh's ability to weave magic into clothing, are all definitely positives to the story.
However, my interest waned around the halfway point due to the introduction of multiple complex elements in the plot. These elements include political intrigue, civil unrest, arranged marriage, coming out, alcoholism, forbidden romance, gossip columns, and magic which actually I thought were all great until it wasn't. The abundance of these plot threads challenging to keep up and made the story less enjoyable for me I think just how the author tried to work them all through the story.
There were many times I felt like the story was dragging almost going nowhere and many things pointless. I did however really enjoy several of the side characters! There were times the language was too modern like the curse words that just were thrown in there randomly and it didn't fit the setting.
In the end, the book is just "okay," with a few enjoyable moments that make it worth the read, despite the issues highlighted above.

Overall for a novella it was the perfect Segway into Catalina's story which I believe this series is taking us.

I hated Catalina's insta-love of her man but that's all the criticism I have for this story honestly. I can honestly say I am glad I finally read this series and I am happy it's done. I can see why many people are attached to it as Maas weaves sooooo many characters into her stories that you find those you like and those you don't like and it all comes together.
It's rare for me to show outwardly any emotion when it comes to books so the fact that I got teary-eyed TWICE during this book says a lot!
Maas definitely took her time with that either to drag it out or wasn't ready for it to end I am not sure but it was a good ride as well as fun to see the growth in Maas's writing. She has a style and it's clear in all the books she writes.

The magical elements seamlessly integrate into the world, creating an atmosphere that feels both fantastical and grounded in its own rules.
The main characters are the heart and soul of the story. Their growth, challenges, and interactions are make them easy to connect with and invest in. I really liked them. Raina and Alexus story was sweet. The only issue I had was, where Alexus does his "like" for Raina came from, it mentions that there's always been something about her for him....what?! That was the only hole I saw.
One standout aspect is the main villain, a character whose complexity and depth are particularly engaging. I am not going to lie there were moments I was more invested in the villain than I was in the hero. There goes my love for the bad-boys again... I really want a redemption arc of his character.
"The Witch Collector" is a captivating read that masterfully blends intricate world-building, relatable main character. The author's enchanting storytelling draws readers into a world with magic and witches resulting in a a really enjoyable read.

I am so glad I read this as a tandem otherwise I may not have gotten through this! THANK YOU to whoever put that together because seriously. that was a feat!
I am really amazed at how SJM is able to mention and do things from the beginning and tie them later on in a story. Love that and think she's an amazing writer.
Still... I don't think this book was totally necessary.

Prepare for a fast-paced adventure that will take your breath away. This is a page-turner that blends excitement, forbidden romance, and intriguing world-building seamlessly. The author's ability to weave these elements together creates a narrative that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire book.
The forbidden romance between the two main characters is electric, giving me goosebumps with each stolen glance. Their love story is a compelling force in the midst of danger, making it impossible to put the book down.
The world-building was awesome. The author has crafted a unique and immersive world that is both vivid and thought-provoking.
With unexpected twists and turns, the plot keeps you guessing and hungry for more. The story's unpredictability adds an element of excitement and ensures that you're never quite sure what will happen next.
The ending, while satisfying in its own right, leaves you with the knowledge that the characters have many trials to overcome. It's a brilliant setup for what promises to be an engaging series or sequel, and I can't wait to see where the author takes these characters next.
In this book, you'll find a delightful mix of adventure and romance that will leave you eagerly awaiting the next installment. Highly recommended for those who love a fast-paced, thrilling read with a touch of forbidden romance.

Jensen, she has once again delivered a sizzling read that captures your attention from the very beginning.
Jensen immerses readers in a world of desire and romance. Her storytelling is so compelling that it's nearly impossible to set the book aside. With vivid prose and intense chemistry between the characters, keeps you riveted to the book. However I am not gonna lie I wanted more...build up and less physical lust turn love but it is what it is.
The infusion of Norse mythology into the narrative is a standout feature of this book. It brings a fresh and exciting dimension to the story, making it stand out to recent books I've read. The blend of mythology was absolutely fun and she created a world that's both enchanting and scary.
However, as the story unfolds, there is a noticeable sense of predictability that creeps in. It becomes apparent that the plot follows a familiar path, and astute readers may anticipate some of the twists and turns. This predictability can be somewhat disappointing but whatever.
The ending, too, leaves something to be desired. It follows a conventional formula, but one that will leave you reaching for the next book because if I know anything about Jensen's writing is that book 2 will be where the emotional roller coaster happens. And I am here for it!
Needless to say it's a spicy and enticing journey that combines romance with Norse mythology which is something I'll always reach for. While the predictability of the plot and the formulaic ending may was a bit of a bummer, it doesn't overshadow the book's appeal. For fans of steamy romances and mythology enthusiasts, this book is a must-read, leaving them eagerly awaiting what Jensen has in store next.

I really enjoyed this book! I enjoyed secrets being revealed, loves that have changed and the triumphs of this book!
My heart aches for Dorian but I just love him and I am excited to see him and Manon (yeah because that was a massive hint in the book!)
Kaltain, you just feel sooooo bad for. I honestly hope *avoiding spoilers* she comes back.

If book 3 was anything like the first 2 books I probably would've given up on the series. I liked the first 2 books just fine but not enough to keep going. BUT THIS BOOK has me wanting more. Maas is the master at getting me to care about side characters and other characters that she introduces.
I still like Chaol and my heart breaks for Dorian. Celaena annoyed me a lot less in this book and at one point even had me tearing up and feeling for her. Nicely done Maas.

So when I tell you that I figured out the ending of a book, THAT is when you know it’s a bad book. So yes, I gave this 5 stars because the ending made me FEEEEEL and I DIDNT see it coming so that’s a good thing!
I literally had to sit there for a minute when I was done... I'm still reeling.
okay...
Violet annoyed the SNOT out of me throughout this whole book. I disliked Cat for a majority of the book and then I disliked her less as the book went on. LOVED seeing more of the group with Rhi, Ridoc, Sawyer, & Vi. Ridoc & Rhi might be my new favorites.
3 more books, that's all I have to say, we will have 3 more freaking books before this is done.

Oraya took too long to get over it all and see the folly of her ways haha but I do love me a slow burn so it was worth it!
The action was good, the twists and turn would've been good if I didn't have an innocent bystander spoil an important part to me. Oh well. I still enjoyed it!
Overall I thought this was a great duology I loved it and felt like this was a nice ending...I probably won't read the rest of the series because this seemed like a perfect happily ever after and I'm satisfied. Don't care about the rest lol

While many people I've heard; favorite greek mythology story would be Persephone and Hades, mine was always Psyche and Eros. Probably because of a beautiful illustrated children's book I now own of this story but as a child I reread and borrowed from the library more often than any book in my life. I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book.
I thought the author did a phenomenal job of creating and meshing so many characters and stories to make this book. I loved diving into the world of Greek mythology and just sat back and let this author take me on a beautiful adventure.
I loved the vibrant visualization of the story and the Gods and mortals, the world building and character development.
The narrators were fantastic, the dual POV and dual male and female narrators were fantastic and I really enjoyed them. Narrators can make or break a book and these 2 did an amazing job and kept me riveted to the book.
Anyone who wants just a lovely story, would totally enjoy this book.
My one problem was the development between Psyche and Eros seemed "too fast" while everything else seemed to take time and depth, I felt like when Psyche and Eros first were together their feelings for each other and their in-house story came about too fast and then when they were torn apart then things slowed down again.
Other than that I loved the book, the overall story was beautifully written and I enjoyed it!
