What a launch to a seriesLoved this cover when I ordered the book. I love it even more now that I've read it because it fits the story within so well!
What a launch to a series! Everything is not as it seems in this magical alternate world. I was riveted as I learned about characters and events through Petra's perspective...as she learned about herself, those around her... and came to question all she knew. What held true and what changed. As I learned about her and the magic being used, the types of luck, there was always a tension that something was coming. At some chapter ends, I'd hold my breath anxious about what the next chapter would bring...and wow, some of it definitely had those twisty, not what I expected, turns! Some characters I loved, and others I hoped for karma to squash them! I'm excited to follow Petra Grady and friends as their new purpose and adventure continues!...more
It’s taken me forever to write this review because Elisabeta and Ferro’s story is so amazing and the direction the Dark/ Carpathian Series is taking iIt’s taken me forever to write this review because Elisabeta and Ferro’s story is so amazing and the direction the Dark/ Carpathian Series is taking is so addicting I could write pages. So I believed I’ve narrowed it down and if you hadn’t realized it yet, I highly recommend this series and Dark Song! I Have been awaiting these two and their story since Dark Legacy. Wondering how they would navigate their journey after all they faced, and the dangers still coming for them, tormenting her... how and if Sergey would be destroyed. Dark Song is such a beautiful story of strength and courage. Not just the strength of physical prowess and cunning in battle...although in a Feehan Novel that's a given. But a true definition of strength of character and honor. . Ferro’s a hero who spent centuries fighting the vampire, protecting his people, all species. Then as the darkness, the lure of ending eternal emptiness, became too strong he secluded himself away in the Monastery with his Brethren, the Ancients. All determined to hold on to his honor, to remain strong, awaiting the one who could bring him his light, complete his soul. Returning to the world to help his people yet again and with the hope his lifemate may be within reach. . Elisabeta is a heroine who was stolen from her home, tortured and abused for centuries by Sergey Manilov, someone she once trusted, turned vampire who used her to gain power over others. She tolerated it all, yielded to him all she was, her memories, her physical and mental ability to function believing he was in complete control. But She refused to surrender what he wanted most, the one thing that she honored cherished most of all, the part of her Lifemates soul she carried. This strength of character gave her the ability to survive, to even find ways to manipulate her capture, doing the best to be strong for her lifemate even with the terror and restrictions Sergey submitted her to, made her believe was her whole life...until the day she is rescued. . Ferro and Elisabeta must learn to navigate this new world and the disconnect her years in captivity wrought on her. It is their strength of character and sense of honor, their belief in the lifemate bond that move them along their journey to love…and Christine writes this beautifully... . I love an Alpha Male that knows when to use his dominance and strength to protect and aid his lifemate and in true alpha form knows when to restrict that dominance and use his strength to allow her to, maybe stumble, but chose her path and learn to have confidence in her nature and her skills. Trusting that as lifemates they must do what makes the other happy and that Ferro is there for her and she has the ability to be there for him. . And as Elisabeta grows in confidence in herself, regains the most basic of abilities, grows in her trust of Ferro and the friendships she makes, she builds on her understanding of who she is as a lifemate and that she has a lot of amazing skills, intelligence and, all discover, a rare gift. It is their strength of character that helps them grow as individuals and from fated lifemates to lifemates in love. As she grows she discovers she has the ability, the knowledge, to help the Carpathians gathered to defeat their common enemy in the Manilovs, to defeat Sergey. . And through the difficulty of learning their new norm and what's best for them, their story is filled with the most dreamy sigh moments of romance in its true definition. And the dangers they face, the healing support, both share, they find a path best for them, they find who they are to each other and the Carpathian people. Their story is masterfully woven through an amazing plot driving the series, danger from the Manilovs continues and reveals more threats to the Prince and Tariq, and secrets revealed. What an amazing leader Tariq truly is. Your heart routes for all to find their happy ever after someday soon due interactions with ancients and Carpathians we love.It is exciting to see the Carpathians leaving their isolated hunting ways and adapting to modern, new strategic ways to fight and to become more of a society. Can’t wait to see who is next!...more

I love this couple and how regardless of being lifemates they have their doubts whether they would be disappointed in each other. If who they are, choices they’d made would satisfy each others expectations. If the universe hadn’t made her the keeper of the light Part of his soul, would they have been each other’s choice. And now as they come to know each other would they be able to find love, a connection beyond lifemates. . Afanasiv, a hero who spent centuries fighting the vampire, protecting his people, all species. Then he secluded himself away for his own reasons in the Monastery with his Brethren, the Ancients. All determined to hold on to his honor, to remain strong, awaiting the one who could bring him his light, complete his soul. And now returning to the world to help his people yet again and with the hope his lifemate may be within reach…his doubts in his honor, choices he’s made begin to surface…choices that made him feel unworthy of his own bloodline. Would she accept him? . Vasilisa is a Lycan princess, she knows she carries a part of a Carpathian Soul, her fated mate. She follows the message of her Tarot cards. Yet even if her destiny is tied to his, it is part of her journey as well, her responsibility to her people as well as all species. She is a warrior, a hunter in her own right. How will he be part of it...will he accept all she has become. Respect the warrior she is and loyalty to her people? Would he want to completely change who she is. Take her over. . Before any discussion or confessions can take place, before they even lay eyes on each other, treachery, enemies, Danger emerge and the only way to possibly defeat it, save those she loves, her people they need to accept each other as lifemates. Will they see the person, understand the choices made and the journey that forged them? Will they be able to accept what the cards say? Or will Whispers of the past, dangers of the present, overcome the whispers of hope for their future? . The revelations about each other takes place in an action packed, edge of seat battles between good and evil. There are fanatical factions, traitors easily corrupted for greed and power, control. Ppwerful enemies endanger her people, are used to carry out the plans of the underworld with new and old enemies to Carpathian and Lycan alike…Memories and confessions actually provide them with knowledge to make them partners, able to face and defeat enemies and save others…seeing each other act with courage and loyalty, build emotions and trust between them. Seeing how those they love and serve, who are family and friends, old and new, come together to fight by their sides gives them insight into themselves and each other. Watching the love and the strength it gives them build. Shadow Riders have a unique ability to travel portals in shadows from one place to another, fast, without being seen. They use this ability as vigilantes doling out “justice” to those they investigate and find to be criminals that escape the law. This book is Elie Archambaut’s story. The Archambault family police the Shadow Riders, doling out justice to those who have committed a crime against the rider code. Elie has been considered an extremely gifted rider fast strong and the pride of the family.
So why has Elie walked away from this prestigious family and his elite family. Why has he found his family among the Ferraro’s? you’ll have to read to find out! Why has Elie decided to enter into an arranged marriage, believing the woman fated to be his would never accept him? Would refuse to be his? You’ll have to read to find out! Who is the arranged bride? Will Elie find a happily ever after with her? Read this amazing plotline and find out!
There are many components to finding a happily ever after. For these two, Physical attraction and similar proclivities are no problem…they are on the same page there! But the communication, getting to the emotional bond needed between them is a challenge. Because of past hurts and struggles to be who they are, both have insecurities hindering that connection.
His from being a prodigy child, shuffled from place to place all his life. Everything revolved around skills and training and no family connection and being wanted for all that he is beyond a rider. He feels he has no control over his life to even discover who he is outside of it, every decision dictated.
Her’s come from being an unwanted child, never good enough. She’d never make a good wife to an Archambault. The challenges in her upbringing make her a strong woman in a stubborn and quiet way. I appreciated her strength.
Christine does an amazing job building this emotional and personal connection, of putting them in situations where the insecurities are challenged and the love between them grows. Yes the physical connection is part of, but they grow to see, appreciate each other. The guidance he can give, the pride he shows in her gifts, the fear he shows when she’s in danger. She shows him she appreciates him beyond being a rider, makes him feel he has a home with her someone who cares for the man he is…all this and more…the knowing that your presence and absence both mean something to someone. Love how they become a team using their individual skills as danger threatens them and those they come to feel are family.
All is written with Christine's signature family bonds and witty dialogue…and of course an edge of your seat plot that shows off the couple and vigilante skills of the riders. Hold your breath action, heart grabbing moments building a connection between them and secondary characters that become the family they both have wanted....more

Each face their own conflicts and enemies...but the underlying Antagonist of the series is the most Diabolical villain I've ever read! Although these books are wonderful read as a series, Christine Feehan does an amazing job weaving the information needed into the story so they can be read as a standalone. . Phantom Game, Book 18, is the story of Jonas "Smoke" Harper and Camellia. After meeting members of all 4 Teams of Whitney’s Military psychically and physically enhanced Ghostwalkers and seeing many reach their Happily Ever After, We're returning to Team One and the Original 12 female orphans. Back to the revelations of Dr Peter Whitney’s Diabolical DNA enhancements in his ends justify the means narcissistic sociopathic mind! Of course, Whitney's female experiments are the ideal partners for these Ghostwalkers and he made sure they were selectively even more so, pairing them. He wants to guarantee genetic matches reproduce. Luckily for the stories, love needs more than pheromones, and people are more than their DNA enhancements. . Both Camellia and Jonas are dealing with betrayal and loss. The betrayal Camellia encountered made her retreat, hide from people and lost her trust in anyone but herself, fearful they would hurt her again. Jonas’ betrayal broke his trust in himself difficult accepting his skills and strength of character, feared he would hurt those he cared about, lose the control he so desperately used to function. . A Beautiful love store revolves around this, acceptance of each other. They come to see each other as the entire amazing person they are. Both grow as individuals and as a couple. Cami learns that betrayal is only as horrid as the motivation behind it. She needed to remember Whitney set them up for dammed if you do dammed if you don’t scenarios to break trust. She is the beauty whose gifts heal and sooth the savage beast. He is the one who can protect her, give her a home and family. As their relationship grows, she learns trust outside the world she built can happen. Jonas learns the strength in who he is, with her guidance he can learn to trust himself, he is not the monster he thinks Whitney turned him into. He can control his enhancements and use them all to his advantage. As all is discovered they realize they are a perfect team and can rely on and trust each other above anyone else. The romance is strong and paced well! . As Jonas and Camellia build a wonderful love story working through betrayals of the past, whispered betrayal in the present, we are kept on the edge of our seat. The danger approaching the compound Home of Team One and Two needs the GhostWalker's to trust each other most! So many twists and turns as to where the threat is coming from and action so well written at times I forgot to breathe! Can’t wait for the next ghostwalker story!...more

A dark edgy and raw hero and sweet giving strong heroine brings us a contemporary beauty and the beast…a spell that can’t be broken but a beast who deserves love and a woman who understands him…can love all of him and accept his love. . Savage, a man broken as a child by pedophiles training him to associate pain with pleasure…made his satisfaction based on the need to inflict pain and make it pleasure. As we learn more about him, his gifts and why his emotional rage and pain grows and needs to be released, we grow to ache for him and love the man…hope Seychelle will choose to be all he needs. . As their relationship grows Seychelle could accept and understand Savage and the man he's become, the light and dark sides. She is drawn to helping others, her need to heal and ease others pain. Willing to accept the emotional pain and rage filling the well in Savage in physical form. What she has difficulty with is although it’s terrifying, why she is so drawn to the pain she knows will become pleasure. She frightens herself more than he does. . I love how this couple navigates the journey of their relationship, the ups, downs, how communication and honesty build the trust between them and make them determined to make it, to be all they need to be for each other. It’s all woven beautifully through a plotline that advances the series, grows the Torpedo Ink’s standing in their chosen home, highlights the couple’s psychic gifts as blessings and curses, and deals with antagonists who allow us to compare and contrast who the real monsters are. Show how Savage differs. . It ends with them willing to move forward and I have the feeling Seychelle will grow to accept her darker longings as the balance to the light she needs to give others. Help her find control. As she moves farther into his world she'll make it her own. The hardest part will be the club business that she’s drawn into…being kept out of, and how to understand that part and all Savage is asked to do for them, all he does without them knowing and how she’ll willingly help him continue. . …excited to read Savage Road, next and see how these two continue to navigate their internal and external conflicts and keep this love story growing and going!...more

What an fantastic read! I don’t know how she manages to have a story flow so beautifully and have it so full of information. This is book 35 of the Dark series and she’s magically breathed new life into it. Old threads are revisited, like mini stories throughout, and new dangers and antagonists introduced. The transition is smooth and still whispers of connection to old villains, leaving the door open to danger possible from all directions down the road. If you’re not yet addicted to this series, this is a great jumping in point. If you’ve been reading, this book is so much fun. And either way, you can’t help but fall in love with so many characters. I’m going to write a vague review because I do not want to spoil it for anyone. . The Ancients sacrificed so much to keep their kind and humanity safe from not only the undead of their kind but the demon growing powerful inside them. Time has taken its toll on Sandu and he is questioning the best way to hold on to his honor, ending his existence or returning to the Monastery, away from others, when the light, the other part of his soul calls out to him and he knows his salvation his lifemate is near. Through the messages in the Tarot cards, Adalasia knows he is meant to be her partner, to work by her side to stop a threatening danger. This is the story of two bloodlines, alludes to possibly more, who’ve sacrificed much more than we know to protect the world. He’s gone centuries without the memories others have to help hold onto honor and keep the demon at bay and still had the strength of character to do so. She’s part of a bloodline who’s trained generation after generation preparing for this fight. . Adalasia is a fantastic character and her story tugs the heart strings as much as Sandu’s. She is a pleasant surprise! The cards bring them together. She knows in order to be victorious they need to be partners, but can they be? Both have different ideas of what partner is, and fears of how to trust and succeed. Afraid to share because the other is withholding something and withholding something because the other won’t share was a hard wall to crumble. However, The cards tell them their success depends on discovering how to be partners and to recall the memories he has blocked…so off on a quest, 4 brethren along to protect and fight at their sides, to find the information they need from old friends from past books who may know. . Each stop brings the reader information of past threads with a lot of well explained Oh Wow! revelations and discoveries needed to help defeat the danger, the enemy, they face and learn where the journey needs to take them. And through the visits, and the adventures that happen during them, lessons are learned on how to be the lifemate, the partners, they need to be. Its not a 50/50 a childhood fairytale ideal would have her believe. It’s knowing each other’s strengths, when to step back and let the other lead, when to let the other shine and support lend help when needed when to ask for help and when to even sacrifice. Of course, this includes amazing action, sweet bonding and love, and a bit of butting heads and heart stopping moments. Of course communication is key! . The Fellow Ancients play their parts beautifully, too. Becoming family to Adalasia, there is banter, action and so much more that helps us get to know them more. Of course, we also get to learn what the cards have in store for them, as clearly as the future can be seen, that is. The end is an amazing happily ever after for the couple, with their quest ending in love we got to see grow and more so for Sandu, definitely a lump in throat happy! And so many possibilities for the series!...more

And how his words suspend reality, giving those in the pages life among us.
Through each sentence, scene, chapter we come to know this universe, the separate journeys of Alice and Owen and the intense moments and motives that finally bring them together. The conflicts they face, the revelations that help them grow, mistakes made, lessons learned. The understanding of who they are, along with an understanding antagonists and the secondary characters so strongly written they move the plot and give the main characters ways to grow, and show who they are, their depth and dimension that pulls you in.
This story has many intense moments. I found myself gripping the book tightly, holding my breath as I read. The dangers, fights, risks, urges and need, adrenaline rush. All as we witness a strong connection and romance wonderfully woven between Alice and Owen. Not to mention twists and moments you don’t see coming making your jaw drop. The intense moments eased with some great humor.
I love the concept, the plotline, and the hints of future storylines. I recommend you read and discover the Road to Heaven, the River to the Devil’s Bridge. The We, The Etherealist musicians, the Hunters and more for yourself....more
I truly Love this couple. The amazing story Christine has written for them! The acceptance and trust they come to share is so beautifully written and I truly Love this couple. The amazing story Christine has written for them! The acceptance and trust they come to share is so beautifully written and the Torpedo Ink plotlines surrounding them and highlighting them is outstanding! They arrive at the couple they need to be, truly in love, by working through conflict and compromise, not only between them, but with Torpedo Ink. A story written in moments that bring the reader to tears at the raw truth, moments of laughter as self-discovery is made, the ah ha giddiness as the love and understanding Savage thought would never be his is right there in front of him. Savage is thrilled Seychelle has accepted and joins in his desires. That her way to find pleasure is perfect for him. .. One thing we see in this book as Savage and Seychelle move further into each other’s world is the importance Savage places on her consent. How strong and smart she is. How she can read him and has come to know her boundaries. Seychelle realizes how much power she has during their pain to pleasure intimacy. She has the control, she’s the one who says when her pain threshold is reached and when Savage needs to stop. He trusts her to know, and she trusts him to listen. And Savage will do anything to keep his word to not humiliate her and to keep her from being hurt in any way outside the pain by his hands to bring her tears and pleasure. One change I think I saw was the pain pleasure desire he felt has become more intimate, more of a bond with her alone, than just the way he needs to find release.
But there is more to Savage’s world than his physical needs, there is his entire life with Torpedo Ink. One he keeps Seychelle blocked from and she feels a disconnect from him. He’d been afraid if she knew all he’s done, all he needs to do for his club, she would leave him. Until he has no choice but to share with her or lose her, He never thought it would, actually, make them stronger. I appreciate Savage, one of the most stoic and isolated members of TI, loved her so much, enough to show what he considered weakness (but I saw as strength) go seek counsel with those he held in esteem, to ask how to make her happy, to help make their relationship survive. There are two or more sub-threads with other Torpedo Ink characters (Alena and Soliel) that grabbed my heart with situations that compare and contrast this couple and strengthen their story path. As they navigate how they fit together, they and Torpedo Ink are facing dangerous threats... an enemy playing tricks with minds, new antagonists whispering, old antagonist posing threats. Old series plot arcs are sewn up, some grow and new series plotline arcs seeds are planted with edge of seat revelations and lots of Oh Wow! . Seychelle shines! She holds her ground and is determined to not be used, be placed second, or left in the dark! Her strength, her power of observation and intuition bring to light dangers Torpedo Ink might have missed or taken longer to discover because they assumed other things. She is truly gifted and gives freely to help others even when she isn’t happy with them. She will give all she can to Savage but will not lose who she is to do so, again showing she is absolutely the woman he needs, a woman to hold her ground and say when. I love how her observations, her openness and the communication they share opens his eyes to himself and to members of his club. That they do hide behind the “it’s club business” instead of taking a step to move into their new normal. . Torpedo Ink come from a world where they grew interdependent to survive, hid their actions, kept secrets amongst themselves. Trusted no one outside them. Seychelle needed a complete connection with Savage, to feel trusted enough for him to give her all of him, for him to consider her and share with her all parts of his life. This caused conflict between TI and her. They are all learning, they’ve never had role models on how to be in a relationship. I think Seychelle awakened some of them, including Czar. Seychelle surprises Savage by giving him the love he never thought he deserved. She accepts him and understands him even better than he does himself. She sees the monster but knows he’s a part of him and understands the reason he is there. She accepts all parts of him love her and she can love all of him. . While Seychelle shines, I love how much Savage grows, at times not realizing, until he catches himself stepping out of his comfort box and mutters “what the hell am I doing?” Caring for her, easing discomfort, when before residual pain outside their home would have thrilled him. To moments when He realizes he’s laughing and appreciating other people around him, laughing at practical jokes and stepping further out of his world into Seychelles, things that matter to her start to matter to him. He learns to step away from club business he really doesn’t have to do, to go and be happy with his woman. He even realizes letting someone know you appreciate them is the right thing to do. And it truly touched my heart to see him finding happiness, love and the hope for tomorrow with Seychelle. He continues to show her how much he loves her in small and great ways. He is her strength, her control, and she is his light and laughter....more

The pace is perfect, several plotlines build suspense, keep you wondering who? why? and what next? Both, Jessie and Emerson have pasts and life choices that could have brought the danger seeming to be coming for them or one of them. Betrayal and revenge shadowing them. Both are strong independent characters, love how they work together to sort through everything and add up things to reach the conclusions they make! Humor is added as Jessie’s time writing a romance novel using him as the inspiration for her characters leads to inside jokes between them. All danger, humor and various situations neatly builds trust between them, and with their interactions they discover each other. Dangerous and fun moments expose Jessie to the fact she can have that edge she is drawn to in a good guy, too, not her usual rogue cougar choices. And Emerson learns that with the right person, like Jessie, you can live life, enjoy it and not just exist. Neither have to change for each other but can bring more happiness to who they are. The chemistry is hinted at. The personal connection, in caring for each other and understanding who each person is and how they work together shows love building to more than teasing flirtation, but the physical attraction, sexual tension, beyond “they are good looking”, is left mostly to the reader’s imagination all the way to when sex is shared. Family and friendships are forged as those in their community, and others, rally to help this couple come together and fight the danger closing in on them, with a shared villain (with a Dr Smith Lost in Space fixation that made me laugh) between them discovered. I loved the links to those in Yuma Town and revisiting favorites from previous books, who are neatly woven and explained without detracting from this story...in fact adding to it. The twists and turns and surprises make this a really engaging and fun read. The action and intensity, along with the humor. The merging of Wolves, Cougars and Bears, oh my! leave the reader hoping for more interaction of the shifter races, the happily ever afters’ for wonderful secondary characters we meet across all of Terry Spear’s shifter series. ...more
Love this story and what it adds to the Torpedo Ink series. We start off learning why Player was so quiet in previous books, come to know his psychic Love this story and what it adds to the Torpedo Ink series. We start off learning why Player was so quiet in previous books, come to know his psychic gifts and what happens with them when he is tired, has used them too long and migraines begin. We meet the heroine, Zyah, who has amazing psychic gifts herself. We learn she can sooth Player, distract him, and help him control his overwrought abilities and the danger they can bring to innocent people and those he cares about…a danger he has never told the Torpedo ink members. And yes, we see Player, exhausted and a bit delusional fall back onto the code Czar instilled in them for their safety and insult Zyah in the most insulting way a man can.
What follows is a beautifully written paranormal tale of a journey to love, through the use of psychic gifts and connection as they try to solve his psychic chaos that’s putting everyone in danger. At the same time reality takes Torpedo Ink on a hunt for thieves and murderers! Zyah’s a strong woman who’s always known love and must learn what it’s like to love a man who has broken and tortured soul. Player’s a man who doesn’t know love or know how receive it. It’s an emotional must read- must experience story! Just know it includes a “I can’t believe Christine did that to him” plot twist!
My heart breaks for Player as this story reveals what his childhood was like. How Sorbacov separated him, made him fear failure, the guilt he carried for his actions. How he used his gifts to make the others happy, even if it tortured him. However, what was more heart breaking was how we see Player try to convince Destroyer he belongs with the Torpedo Ink family, deserved his spot with them; how he soothed Zyah, telling her that the facts had to be shared and discovered before judgement was passed… yet he denies himself the worthiness of both. A man set apart. The self-imposed distance he keeps to protect those he cares about, those he loves but feels different from. Those he has killed with and killed for. He's a man driven to protect others no matter what it means for him.
The fact that Zyah doesn’t reject him or judge him makes him feel more shame. He wasn’t worthy of her. Her grandmother, Mama Anat is a driving force to move him forward, with wise words and a kind heart. She grows to be special to him and all of Torpedo Ink as they become part of their lives.
How he proves he’s ready to move forward is definitely an enjoyable part of this must read story … Love the lessons he learns through SeaHaven friends and even the advice from his Sisters. This book is full of strong intelligent women! Love their addition to the plot that helps Zyah and Player move along the road to a Happily Ever After.
As their relationship grows, Player and Zyah follow their psychic connection to try and solve what’s disrupting his gifts, making him a danger to everyone. His issues finally force him to tell Czar the secrets he’s kept. I hope the reaction from Czar and the other members of Torpedo Ink, who also point out how many times he saved them, take away his guilt. Close the distance and his feeling of odd man out. Especially since bringing Zyah and Mama Anat into the fold, extending friendship to others, he's brought the best gift to Torpedo Ink so far.
They both learn that being open to giving and receiving love, happily, includes the hot sex and help they can give each other, too. That its the key to being partners on all parts of their lives...they have someone to move forward with.
They spend so much time looking for clues in his past to solve his psychic issues, they almost miss the true danger staring them in the face! Oh the revelations that come from it when they figure it out! And Torpedo Ink, along with law enforcement from Sea Haven close in and deliver karma to those threatening the elderly in Caspar and Sea Haven. Bringing action and the teamwork they do so well!
As usual, one member finding love brings more to the rest of the club, too. But I believe more so in this journey... I love how Zyah, Mama Anat, and the community of Sea Haven (some favorites!) and Caspar help the members of Torpedo Ink understand more of their new normal. The moments of humor and bonding between them all are so well written! The events that move the plot reminds us how special Sea Haven is and shows how Caspar is beginning to become not just a place to exist but a home for these tortured souls. I can’t wait to revisit this series and see where they go from here!...more

Love builds from this understanding and builds a bond between you stronger than anything else.
Jonquille and Rubin are examples of this, thanks to the enhancements the series antagonist, Dr Whitney gave them. Jonquille is forced to be isolated, some of her enhancements are unable to be controlled and are dangerous when around others. Rubin is revered because of his healing gift, those who care about him feel the need to protect him, begin to only see him as this one gift and not the person he is. They are paired by Dr Whitney, giving them the balance and attraction, but how do they move toward love?
It’s the people they are. The time spent getting to know each other, in search of knowledge, and due to the need to protect the other, they are brought together. Unaware of how special his gifts are Jonquille comes to know the man he became because of his past and the science he loves, the things he enjoys and the people he loves. By Sharing her past, telling him of her life with Whitney, her mind and the skills others never see, her strength and intelligence and wit, the person she became despite all Whitney put her through and took from her. He moves past this is my paired female to this is the woman I love.
Their journey takes place in the wonderful setting of the Appalachian Mountains, Rubin and Diego Compo’s childhood home and their turf, so well written you feel you are there. By the end of the first chapter your heart belongs to these characters and your want their Happy Ever After to work! The relationship of Diego and Rubin, their skills from childhood and enhancements are amazing! The world they shared with Jonquille open her to the possibility she could be part of something, at Rubin’s side she could be around others and belong, use skills of her own that she was denied using most of her life. The banter between Rubin Diego and Jonquille brings wit and humor to the story. The wisdom and mischief of fellow Mountain friends drive the plot and add to understanding. The danger they face, the twists and turns on who is the target, who is the enemy, keep you on the edge of your seat…especially the “I can’t believe Christine did that” moment, even if it’s perfect event to drive the plot.
The series also gets a boost in this story with Jaw dropping surprises and grin causing Karma delivered with team 4 and other teams aiding them. By the end the Happily Ever After is so sweet, both of them in love with each other and coming to a new understanding and respect for all their gifts, even the ones thought to cause their loneliness. Looking forward to reading what’s next for the Ghostwalkers… ...more

From "I knew it" to "OMG I can't believe it" this book takes you into the heart of their storm!
The Ferraros and Saldis have a long standing war from generations past. Though they claim to be different there are similarities. Both will not tolerate betrayal against their own. They will do anything to protect those loyal to them. But the battles between them start to wane when Emme and Val fall in love. Even more so when trouble within the Saldi Family starts to threaten the Ferraro family, Riders, and innocents more than a feud. When these threats are best faced together.
Valentino steps up to head his family. He has to rid it of traitors those who go against his command. It is seen that there is a need for someone like Valentino Saldi to keep control, to keep dangerous crimes from running out of control. He loves Emmanuelle, those after him put her in danger, too. His past actions are revealed along with an interesting bit of lore the Saldis have about shadows. He realizes it is true. Lore that may endanger riders if misused. The lore he does not want Emmanuelle to know about completely because he loves her. He wants her to choose him because he is her choice and not because of any possible threat.
Emme is a strong beautiful woman, a deadly assassin, but also vulnerable and filled with insecurities. Ones she needs to work through to do the things she needs to do...to find love and realize she deserves it. All the emotional and verbal abuse piled on her by her mother, Eloisa. It caused her see her own version of truth about Val. Emmanuelle loved Val, she was about to sacrifice all she held dear to her before she felt his betrayal.
Valentino knew she had to make her own decisions about him. He could not force it. But He was not going to lose the woman meant for him. The alpha in him made sure she listened and heard the truth. That she understood what she meant to him. He was the one who not only saw how amazing she was but insisted she know it, too.
Emme knew the true Val, loved him for the man he was, his desire to change how bloodthirsty his family was… rebuild with his direction. She accepted him and his cousin. Not as a Saldi from an old feud but the man he was.
I love how their story is written. They have several emotional, passionate, and dreamy sigh moments. Families come together to weed out treachery within each. I’m so glad Emme and Val have their HEA, with all its OMG moments and twists to the Shadow Lore. There’s action and justice served by both family codes. They grow as a team, partners. Willing to accept the judgment of others and know they always have each other and their love, that they are committed to each other.
The storyline made me suspend the Alpha Card of a character for not following his own advice, for not doing everything in his power to be with the one who's shadow matched his. I think it was a brilliant thread because it made Val read stronger, a true determined alpha. To be the man his woman wants and loves.
As usual there are threads stretching for more stories. My love of this series was not diminished but grew. More family to find HEA, one secondary will hopefully have his alpha card reinstated…although I might have seen him as beta all along. I hope he matures into an Alpha. Vague yes, but its because you need to read!!...more

Terry Spear takes us back to Silver Town for a whole new adventure! The Wolff brothers and sisters will have their stories told in this new series. First up is Blake Wolff and his mission to convince Nicole Grayson there's more to life than work, that what's between them is more than pretend, and he's just the wolf to show her, if the dangerous criminal she's after doesn't get in the way. Love how they become a team and how Nicole practically takes over his resort to catch the bad guys. A wolf hates to lose their prey, and Nicole couldn't catch the villain once before this time nothing was going to stop her, especially when his previous victim is there to see it... even if it made her a little narrow-sighted about what was growing between her and Blake. Terry does a great job bringing family and community together to solve the case and bring these two together! Humor, action packed scenes and shifter strengths, all perfectly balanced through the storyline! Can't wait to see what's in store for Blake's siblings!...more
