The writing threw me off a bit, it was clunky at times and really got into describing every little thing in a cluttered way for me. I also didn't really love the "we must have sex for the potion" trope, but that's a me thing....more

Do you think Sila will ever just be murdered? I dislike him so much!
Some very cute SJ & M intimacy and "I love you" moments, more rabbit mask killer case - there were some big reveals in this one. Still hate Sila though.
Great narration as usual. Also good for the side characters getting in some pegging. Good for them indeed!...more

This had a really interesting premise - nonbinary ace healer who does blood magic on their patients, a mysterious blood bruising disease wreaking havoc on the town. Trans brother and his struggles with puberty and binding. Mentoring a young and powerful young blood mage and teaching her how to use her power. Themes of colonialism and immigration. Persian inspired world building and magic. All super interesting!
The plot however kind of fell off for me. I guessed the surprise about halfway through. Things were a bit anticlimactic and the mystery didn't end up feeling very satisfying.
I definitely want to read more stories this author comes up with. Wished this had a bit more to it!...more

I really enjoy how much heart Kelly writes into their stories, and this was a very cute romance plus wrapping up ends of the past two couples' romances. Loved seeing more London & Dahlia and Ben & Lex cameos.
Julie and Elle's romance was fast in time, but felt longer with how much emotion and depth the characters went through. Elle working through fostering her niece and being a guardian, dealing with migraines and depression. Julie coaching, supporting Elle's family, dealing with her own family, having an ace/demi awakening.
I didn't have huge feelings or emotions or breakthroughs reading this but it also feels more than a 4 star read? I am very happy with everyone getting HEAs and being together, I am happy for this romance duo, the plot and characters felt fleshed out. This had just enough angst while also feeling like a very mature no-nonsense relationship. I appreciated that while this has basketball, it wasn't a sports romance. Great audio narration.

Both are quietly pining for the other, making a gesture, reminiscing on past pining. This was very cute, and is set during Pride which felt fitting to pick up in June.
Audio is also currently available on Hoopla which is a bonus! ...more

Sure the plot is interesting, I am invested in what happens in this world and with the shenanigans happening, but really am here to listen to murderbot's internal whining and annoyance with the world.

Still surrounding the same medical pharmacy corrupt industry, and the gradual world building between the two books out in the series has been intriguing.
Something I appreciate with this author's writing is that when they are describing a new character or even a random person, the go to pronouns to describe anyone is they/them - very small act but noticeably cool to see!
There's great disability rep/chronic pain rep throughout this, and a lead figuring out if he's demisexual, and how he doesn't fit in an allosexual world. The writing on these two identities was really thoughtfully and carefully written.
This has very sad boy/martyr boy vibes, a super genuine and kind to a fault vampire, lots of care into the social issues faced in today's society but put into a pnr world. This has harder topics, while also having a softer and sweeter romance. Also - great narration! I was so excited to see that audios for both books in the series came out recently! ...more

Really was invested in the case for this one, Internal Affairs investigation and shining a light on fucked up LEO behavior.
Malcolm's mom is an angel.
So much intimacy and tenderness mixed in with pure angst and drama from external forces. Also love the narration for this entire series! Bonnem is doing a great job....more
