Siento que a este libro le faltó un poco de todo. La voz en este se siente un poco extraña, como que no hace buen match con los otros libros del Simonverse. La trama, o más bien falta de, es muy debil. Demasiado para mi gusto. Aparte siento que al final no se resuelve nada? Hay varias cosas que quedan pendientes y la historia nunca lees da ese cierre. El libro acaba y ya. Y miren, yo también soy mucho de personajes y creo que este libro me hubiera encantado manteniendo lo mismo que sucede... si hubiera tenido otra protagonista.
Este libro tiene 360 página y en NINGUNA congenie con Leah. She's so... unlikeable . Trataba y trataba de entenderla pero jamás logré una conexión con ella. Hacia comentarios que no me gustaban, se comportaba de una manera con la cual no me identifique y simplemente no me gustó su personaje, mucho menos como protagonista. Lo más importante que le faltó para mi es carisma; es gris, muy gris. Y más cuando el libro previo del Simonverse está narrado por Molly. Fueron zapatos que no logró llenar.
Igualmente, no ayudó nada que la narradora del audiolibro también hizo un trabajo horrible, me atrevería a decir que espantoso. No había distinción en las voces, en las entonaciones, en nada. I'm so sorry Shannon Purser pero tal vez hay que buscar otra carrera!
Aún así, como siempre me gusta como Becky Albertalli trabaja los temas LGBTQ+ y la representación. Se ve que son cosas que le mueven (aunque en este libro hay un momento con Leah respecto a la orientación de alguien que me parece horroroso por como se comporta ella y lo habría dejado pasar si se hubiera vuelto a mencionar pero nl se deja olvidado).

The Year of Magical Thinking es el recuento de 2004 en la vida de Joan Didion, el año que sigue a la muerte de su esposo y el año donde su única hija empeoró de salud (para después fallecer en 2005). Es un libro crudo, con discusiones y representaciones sobre el luto y el duelo. La manera en la que lo escribe Joan es catártico, lleno de pena y remordimiento. Ese fue mi aspecto favorito de este.
Admito que hay secciones en las que el libro se torna tedioso. La autora se expande en detalles ajenos a los sucesos principales que, a mi parecer, carecían de importancia. Pero entiendo que forman parte de la imagen que estaba construyendo la autora: una mujer que enviuda y que ve caer a su hija también, derrumbando por completo su perspectiva respecto a la vida.
Lo recomiendo si les gustan estos tipos de temas!...more

Escuché este audiolibro en Scribd porque siempre me ha gustado mucho Madison Beer como artista y, sabiendo muchas de las cosas que ha tenido que vivir, conocer su historia contada por ella misma me parecia interesante y, hasta cierto punto, de valor. Y la verdad si me gustó!
Siempre me ha gustado mucho el ver la otra cara de la moneda, específicamente en el mundo de la farándula, y Madison trae muchos puntos importantes a discusión. Hay temas que me parecen muy necesario de hablar y ella lo hace de una manera que considero yo lo suficientemente cuidada como para hacerlo. Las discusiones sobre depresión, ab*so de ciertas sustancias y las dificultades de la vida en el estrellato me parecieron muy interesantes, y como comente, muy bien hechas. Especialmente tomando en cuenta que este libro va dirigido a un público más joven, con The Half of It Madison deja muy claro el porque SI es una modelo a seguir.
Igual, siento que el punto más debil de este es el hecho de que es muy corto. Hay cosas que me hubieran gustado que se desarrollaran más y hay otras cosas, que yo se, sobre Madison que también me había gustado explorarlas desde su pov. Pero aún así fue una lectura disfrutable <3...more

El tema de las brujas me gustó mucho y como alguien que literalmente no sabe NADA sobre esto me dejó intrigado! Me parece buena señal eso, pues te deja queriendo saber más, aprender más. Fue interesante ver como esto crecía a lo largo d la novela, y queda mucho potencial que explorar en las siguientes partes.

No hay mucho que decir: leí la sinopsis, vi un par de reseñas y me aventé. Y wow, como disfrute esta casi 2 horas escuchando el audiolibro.
Una de mis cosas favoritas de leer o de ver es historias con cierta inspiración bíblica, porque siempre terminan siendo tramas bastante oscuras, y esta no fue la excepción. Es un horro un poco más tenue, uno que. me gustó. No es tan "in your face" con el terror, es más sutil.
No puedo hablar de los personajes porque siento que este libro no es de eso. Sophie la prota ni siquiera está muy desarrollado, es más bien como la calca de una mujer y creo que justo ese es el propósito. Aporta bastante a la eeriness del libro.
El único pero que le pongo a este libro es que es extremadamente similar a una película que vi hace varios años y que me gusto. No voy a mencionar el nombre de esta para evitar spoilers pero es que de verdad ciertos temas, ciertas escenas, ciertas discusiones son demasiado similares. Y, como la película me gustó bastante y se quedó demasiado marcada en mi memoria, este libro no me sorprendió tanto, pero aún así lo disfrute muchísimo. Especialmente los dos últimos capítulos.

Por lo que investigué, Dennis Cooper se enamoró de George Miles hace muchos años y se entero que este se habá quitado la vida 10 años después de que sucedió. Luego, le escribió 5 libros que son el "George Miles' Cycle" donde trataba de enmendar su imagen a través de diferentes representaciones en los años 90. I Wished es el primer libro después de 20 años que habla de George.
¿Por qué digo todo esto? Porque no se si no entendí ente libro por no haber leído los otros 5.
Cuando leí la sinopsis en Scribd me esperaba algo completamente distinto, más al estilo Lie With Me, pero no fue así. Tiene una estructura muy rara, ya que al mismo tiempo mezcla la no ficción con la ficción y la línea que las separa es muy delgada. Había veces donde estaba completamente perdido y no sé que era real y que no.
Es un libro que creo llega a rozar lo pretencioso pero me gustó mucho como estaba escrito. Lastima que la historia en sí no me hay encantado tanto.

Este libro nos cuenta una historia cruda, macabra en ciertas partes. Una familia abusiva en toda la extensión de la palabra fue con lo que me encontré al empezar este libro y tengo que decir, estaba intrigado. Mucho. Hay escenas que están tan detalladas que mi piel se erizaba de solo escucharlas. Claro, doy el beneficio de la duda respecto a que todo lo que cuenta Tara haya sucedido de la misma forma pero eso no quita que haya sido una lectura impresionante. No solamente veíamos la situación de esta familia, también veíamos como era el estilo de vida de ellos que, basándome solamente en lo que me contó el libro, es totalmente diferente al mio. El contexto social y cultural, las prácticas y creencias que tenías, todo me parecía demasiado interesante y, aunque he visto muchas criticas respecto a este tema en especifico, debo admitir que lo disfrute y definitivamente algo aprendí.
Nunca se muy bien como calificar un libro de no ficción. Me es medio raro venir y decir "mmm que triste tu trauma pero no me gustó, 1 estrella". Este libro, objetivamente a mi parecer, se merece las 5 estrellas porque me pareció muy bien narrado y que sabe cómo despertar una reacción emocional mientras lo lees. Pero, hablando de mí disfrute personal, le doy las 4.5 porque hubieron varias partes del libro donde podía decir que no lo estaba disfrutando. No porque fuera malo, sino porque había escenas que me ponían muy incomodo y secciones que eran tan fuertes que no "disfrutaba" lo que estaba leyendo.

El vampiro de la colonia roma es, a como tengo entendido, uno de los libros más representativos de la literatura gay mexicana, razón por la cual lo quería leer. Era de esos que tenía si o si en mi lista y me hace mucha ilusión ya haberlo leído, y no solo eso sino que también me gustó bastante.
Este libro tiene temáticas super fuertes pero super importantes. Como persona parte de la comunidad LGBTQ+, este tipo de libros me encantan porque muestran pedazos de la realidad que muchas personas han vivido, y quieras o no nos enseñan sobre la historia y nos sensibilizan. Siento que es absolutamente NECESARIO el leer este tipo de experiencias, porque tenemos que aprender a también ver desde todos los puntos de vida para tener un poco más de entendimiento sobre la realidad que la comunidad vive.
Les recomiendo ALTAMENTE el audiolibro de este, por la manera en la que esta contado. El narrador hace un trabajo excelente dando los espacios y los breaks necesarios a como habla Adonis, además de que entiendes más la entonación y con ello, la intención de como lo dice. Es de mis audiolibros favoritos que he escuchado en mi vida.

Creo que la mejor manera que tengo para describir este libro es que es uno que esta consiente de lo que es y no se toa muy en serio y, gracias a eso, hace que la lectura sea muy amena. Mark Manson literal dijo "este es un libro más de autoayuda, no te va a revelar los secretos del universo pero te va a enseñar algo" y eso fue justamente lo que hizo.
Me gustó mucho la forma que tiene el autor para darte los hechos mientras te trata de explicar su punto. Siempre lo hizo a través de experiencias, a veces las suyas y a veces de famosos/figuras públicas. Las usaba para introducir el tema y de ahí se agarraba para contarte lo que quería decir y en lo personal me pareció una formula ganadora. No te bombardeaba con datos psicológicos y lo hacía de una forma entretenida.
Concuerdo con mucho de lo que dice el autor y el hecho de que haya "formalizado" mis propias creencias definitivamente hizo que pudiera identificarme más con lo que estaba escuchando.
Lo recomiendo mucho por si quieren empezar con los libros de no ficción y definitivamente estaré escuchando el otro libro del autor.

Este libro, a diferencia del otro, trata temas muy diferentes pero que son igual de válidos y necesarios. Mientras que en George se habla más de la identidad de género aquí vemos un aspecto más relacionado con la sexualidad, más en específico la asexualidad, y como de costumbre Alex Gino lo hizo impecablemente.
Hay algo dentro de mi que se siente extremadamente feliz por tener historias lgbt+ dentro del género infantil. Lo que más me gustan de los libros de Alex es que, durante la novela, nunca te avienta los temas a la cara o te los quiere meter por donde se pueda. No. Lo que hace es exponerte las situaciones y explicarlas de la manera más sutil y sencilla, y siento que esa es la belleza de sus libros.
En este seguimos a Rick, un personaje secundario en George que apenas está por empezar la secundaria y comienza a cuestionarse porqué no se siente como los otros chicos de su edad. Gracias a un club de su escuela (el Rainbow Spectrum me pareció lo más puro y bello de este mundo) conoce a más personas que se encuentran en situaciones similares a las de él y poco a poco comenzará a descubrirse a si mismo.
Además de que tenemos representación asexual en el libro, también hay MUCHISIMA diversidad por parte de personajes secundarios. Hay representación gay, lésbica, bisexual e incluso de genero fluido y/o no binario, y Alex Gino desarrolla a estos personajes de una manera muy linda. Me gusto mucho leer el viaje de Rick y definitivamente el chico ya es de mis favoritos.
Algo que sí tengo que decir es que escuché el audiolibro de este, que está narrado por Alex Gino, y... no creo que Alex sea muy bueno al momento de narrar historias. No había mucha distinción en las voces de los personajes lo cuál a veces confundia y siento que alguien más pudo haber hecho un mejor trabajo.
Fuera de este recomiendo mucho este libro porque es igual de necesario que George, y me hace muy feliz que existe y que le haya dado la oportunidad....more

Creo que no puedo comenzar a explicar lo feliz que me hace saber que un libro MIDDLEGRADE que hable acerca de niños trans exista. Las posibilidades que hay de que este libro ayude a miles de personas por el simple hecho de darles esperanza siento que es digno de aplaudir, y además de todo eso Alex Gino hace un trabajo excepcional contando la historia.
La historia de George me parece una tremenda joya. Es una trama sencillita, con todo lo de la obra, pero los temas que trata y como los trata y el mensaje que el libro quiere dar definitivamente son lo que el libro hace mejor. Alex tiene esta forma sutil de contarte la situación sin "aventarte" todo los temas a la cara, y siento que esa es la forma más indicada para abarcar este tipo de historias en un libro infantil.
Los personajes me gustaron mucho, en especial los amigos y el hermano de George. Creo que esto demuestra que las nuevas generaciones ya no son igual de prejuiciosas que las pasadas y que los niños ya vienen con mentalidades mucho más abiertas y aceptantes, lo cual me hace ver el mundo con más esperanza.
Escuche este en audiolibro y me encantó la narración, definitivamente uno de mis favoritos. De ahora en adelante, no me cansaré de recomendar esta novela porque definitivamente es de esas historias que brillan en los estantes....more

Lie With Me nos cuenta una historía real, un suceso que vivió Philippe durante sus años adolescentes. Nos cuenta su historia con Thomas, lo que vivieron y cómo fue esa experiencia para él y para su vida. La novela está contada en retrospectiva, lo cual le da este toque nostálgico a la narración que disfrute mucho. Escuché el audiolibro para este y el narrador hizo un trabajo excepcional, tanto su voz como su pronunciación se ciertas palabras en francés hicieron de la experiencia algo mucho mejor.
La narración es increíble y aunque este sea un trabajo traducido no creo que haya afectado en este aspecto. La manera en la que Philippe describía los sentimientos que tenía en ese entonces, lo que hacían él y Thomas y como detallaba sus encuentros me pareció muy bello. Nuevamente, tiene este elemento de nostalgia y este sentimiento de sombrío durante la lectura que siento fue muy indicado. Llego un punto de me recordó un poco a Call Me By Your Name, a mi parecer tienen ciertas similitudes en la forma en la que se narra la historia ya que ambas tienen las palabras cargadas de sentimientos y emociones que al inicio no se planean textualmente.
Mi problemilla con el libro no es tanto por culpa del libro, si no fue que nunca llegue a conectar totalmente con a historia. Me gustó demasiado, pero no tuve esa conexión con los personajes más que nada, aunque disfruté mucho leyendo la historia.
Al final es un libro que disfruté bastante, uni inesperado porque nunca había oido de él y que terminó siendo una gran lectura que sin duda recordaré en el futuro. ...more

Este poemario tiene un toque nostálgico, lleno de amor por el pasado pero al mismo tiempo dolor y ausencia por lo que fue. Me gusto mucho el POV que se le dio a los poemas, además de que el estilo de escritura de Fernando Molano es muy atmosférico y muy punzante para como escribe los poemas. Leer la experiencia homosexual, o al menos una de miles, a través de las palabras cuidadosamente escritas del autor fue una experiencia distinta, pero llena de valor y que considero una de mis favoritas dentro del. género de la poesía, además de que escuché el audiolibro y eso hizo que pudiera digerir todo el. libro de forma más completa.
Este mes me propuse leer más literatura LGBT+ hispánica y este autor estaba definitivamente en mi lista. Conozco algo de su historia, tanto la de su vida como la que la llevó a escribir este libro, y su voz me parece necesaria e importante dentro de la literatura y con este ya me quiero leer el resto de su trabajo.
Debo admitir que desde antes de empezar a leer esta trilogía, mi interés por la historia no era el más grande. Kelley Armstrong sabe como atraparte con sus tramas. Desde el prólogo tenemos algo muy interesante que se mantiene en todo el libro, y agrega mucho misterio alrededor de la historia. El lugar donde esta ambientado todo, Salmon Creek, me pareció de lo mejor del libro. Amo los libros situados en pequeñas ciudades/pueblos y definitivamente la autora lo manejó muy bien.
Los personajes me terminaron gustando mucho. Similar con su serie pasada, el grupo de amigos es demasiado entrañable. Maya como protagonista me gustó bastante, ya que tiene una personalidad llena de picardía que no se suele ver en lo juvenil. AMEEEE a Daniel y lo cariñoso y cuidador que es con Maya, además de que siento que su relación platónica es preciosa (ojalá la autora no vaya a arruinar eso en un futuro). Corey es definitivamente el comic relief, Hailey tiene potencial y Sam me interesa mucho. Con el que tengo más conflicto es Rafe. Este brother es un fuckboy hecho y derecho y hubieron varias ocasiones donde de verdad me desesperó.
La trama del libro también me causó un poco de conflicto. Antes de empezarlo yo ya tenía una idea de lo que trataba gracias a la sinopsis y a ciertos elementos que había escuchado del libro. Las primeras 100 páginas estuvieron muy buenas pero luego de ahí comenzó a decaer un poco. Todo estaba demasiado lento en el sentido que el conflicto NO EMPEZABA. La autora se tardó demasiado en hacer a Maya descubrir la verdad y lo que eso significava. Fue hasta la página 300 donde ya porfin pudimos ver que es lo que va a estar sucediendo en los siguientes libros.
El final quedó en un muy buen punto entonces estoy interesado en continuar con los siguientes, además de que escuche que en los dos que me faltan hay cameos de los personajes de la otra trilogía lo cuál es lo que más necesito en esta vida....more

A este punto el mundo entero ya sabe de mi amor incondicional por What If It’s Us. Creo que en lo que llevo en redes este ha sido el libro que más he recomendado. Antes de seguir quiero dejar algo muy claro, este libro sigue y seguirá siendo ese libro que me ganó el corazón, que me enamoró, que me hizo sentir cosas que ninguno antes. Pero creo que, después de 5 veces haberlo leído, es momento de bajarle mi calificación.
Ay no sé qué decir la verdad JAJAJAJA. En general, cada vez que lo leo, no puedo evitar sentir que este libro pudo haber sido mejor (mucho mejor) si el conflicto hubiera sido algo, y perdón por mi francés, menos pendejo. No sé si ya es la edad hablando, tomando en cuenta que leí este libro originalmente cuando tenía 18 recién cumplidos y ahora ya casi llego a los 21, o simplemente mi aversión enorme a la tontería por la cual se pelearon los protas, pero siempre que leo eso me ENFURECE DE UNA MANERA INIMAGINABLE .

Obviamente estoy consciente de que este es un libro juvenil, por lo que los protagonistas se van a comportar y van a actuar de acuerdo a su edad. Repito, eso lo entiendo por completo. Pero no se com explicar que, siento a estos personajes tan cercanos a mi, casi mios, que quisiera que se les hubiera dado un mejor showing en este? No se, siento que como ya leí Here’s To Us y ese en mi opinión supera inmensamente este ya no puedo evitar comparar a Artur y Ben de 17 años con Arthur y Ben de 19.
Este libro en mi corazón siempre tendrá las 5 estrellas. Siempre sera ese libro para mi. Pero el que quiera azul celeste que le cueste y si me pongo muy objetivo, esta calificación le queda mejor a la historia.
Habiendo dicho eso, me voy a llorar por esta pérdida. Muchas gracias.

Mi obsesión con este libro está dura.
Decidí escuchar el audiolibro de What If It's Us porque aun no me sentía listo, y sigo sin estarlo, para dejar ir esta historia, y déjenme decirles que es uno de los mejores que he escuchado. El experimentar la historia de mis hijos Arthur y Ben de una manera diferente ha sido todo un deleite, y me enamoré de su historia de amor una vez más.
Las actores que consiguieron son no increibles, PERFECTOS. Las voces que les dieron quedan como anillo al dedo con la personalidad de los personajes, y suenan tal como lo imagine cuando lo estaba leyendo. Además, Becky y Adam la armaron duro cuando literalmente consiguieron que el actor que fue protagonista de Dear Evan Hansen por dos años en Broadway hiciera la voz de Arthur. No puedo imaginarme otro cast más perfecto para mi leo favorito.
Estoy a dos de volver a empezar este libro, alguien dETENGAME AHORA.

Hay ocaciones donde desde que comienzas a leer un libro sabes que se convertirá en uno de tus favoritos, y eso fue justamente lo que me pasó con este.
Becky no me había gustado para nada con el libro que leí de ella pero Adam me encantó, entonces cuando comencé este iba con mis dudas. Me daba miedo que fuera a ser muy polarizante mi experiencia por tener un "chance" de 50-50 con el libro, pero quedé enamorado, feliz, triste, animado e inspirado cuando cerré What If It's Us y supé que sería de mis favoritos.
Literalmente parece que este libro lo escribieron para mí. Tiene un montonal de elementos y tropos que son mis favoritos y se juntan de una manera explosiva. Libro contemporáneo de romance situado en Nueva York? Perfecto. Historia muy al estilo rom-com con momentos divertidos y románticos? Perfecto. REFERENCIAS A HAMILTON Y UN CHICO ESCRIBIENDO UNA NOVELA DE FANTASÍA? Perfecto. Literalmente parece que los autores se metieron a mi mente y escogieron varias de mis cosas favoritas y las escribieron en un libro.
A diferencia de muchas reseñas que he visto de este libro, a mí me pareció que estos chavos tenían la química más bonita del mundo. Desde el momento donde tienen su meet cute hasta cada una de sus citas. Este es de esos libros donde no pude parar de sonreír porque todo lo que sucedía y todo lo que se decían me hacía enormemente feliz, y no podía esperar a ver que ibas a hacer después.
Aunque este libro me haya parecido ABSOLUTAMENTE PERFECTO tuve 2 problemillas con él, y ambos de ellos son gracias a Arthur. Los protas tienen dos problemas principales y ambos de ellos se dan gracias a que este brother no sabe escuchar y sobre exagera las cosas. Entiendo que cada quien reacciona diferente a ciertas situaciones obviamente y que cada quien tiene sus propias inseguridades, pero ambos problemas se pudieron haber evitado si Arthur se hubiera dado el tiempo de escuchar a Ben en vez de saltar a conclusiones y explotar. Amas cosas agregaron drama innecesario en mi opinión y pudieron haberse manejado diferente.
Siempre he sido de los que prefieren lo realista por encima de lo conveniente pero este es el primer libro en mucho tiempo que me hizo desear que todo fuera a acabar perfecto para Arthur y Ben. El final de este libro ME ENCANTÓ. Yo esperaba algo así por todo lo que había escuchado pero tuvo un elemento que no me esperaba, lo cual me dejó con los sentimientos a flor de piel. No estaba, y sigo sin estar, preparado para dejar ir a esta historia y a sus personajes, me encanto demasiado.
No puedo creer lo enamorado que estoy del libro y lo mucho que me dejó. Siempre estaré enamorado e la historia de Ben y de Arthur y sé que lo leeré mil veces hasta que nos den esa secuela que sabemos puedo llegar a ocurrir. AMO AMO AMO AMO....more

Vi la película antes de leerlo y decidí darle una oportunidad al libro porque me había gustado muchísimo la historia y quería ver que tal estaba el material original y, debo admitir, la película es muy buena adaptación. Es demasiado similar y, a mi parecer, la película hace mejor trabajo al desarrollar y presentar los hechos, ya que la manera en la que esta narrada el libro no es tan lineal y en la adaptación lo fueron mostrando como iba sucediendo, y me gustó más la última forma.
Hay algunas escenas que me parecieron de lo más ridículas, en especial una del final, que le quita mucha credibilidad a la historia. Digamos, el hecho de que la novela este contada desde el punto de vista de un perro es algo poco inverosímil pero lo crees porque es una narrativa muy pura y honesta, pero cuando (view spoiler)[ le ponen un pinche aparato que usó Stephen Hawking al perro para QUE PUEDA HABLAR EN LA CORTE Y PUEDA TESTIFICAR QUE SU DUEÑO NO ABUSÓ DE UNA NIÑA (hide spoiler)] was too much.
El audiolibro a veces tenía breaks musicales entre capítulos (supongo que era para separar partes del libro) y a veces eso me llegaba a desesperar, pero en general es uno muy bueno. El narrador hcae buen trabajo en crearte la imagen de un perro con sentimientos humanos y en contar la historia bajo esa perspectiva. El mero final, el epílogo, es una belleza y I'M CRY.
Me encantan este tipo de novelas y definitivamente leeré más...more
