After reading IN COMMAND, I don't think anyone that is a fan of this series should skip it. There are a few things that happen that I think will play a big part in understanding the storyline going forward.
I found IN COMMAND emotional and entertaining and can't wait to see what will happen next. ...more

Jane made a lot of bad decisions and I hated reading about them. The second half of the book definitely picked things up in the action department. The storyline flowed better and I was more interested in what was happening.
Although I was a bit disappointed while reading TRUE DEAD I am still very interested in seeing how things will end for Jane and her clan. It has been a great series and I look forward to everyone hopefully getting their HEA in whatever way that might come.

The romance between Nell and Occam continues to move along at a nice pace for the characters, but I am excited to see more between the two. They are a great pair.

I really liked Reid. She is in a bit of an identity crisis for most of the book, but she is super strong throughout all of it. She is extremely loyal and willing to do everything she can to protect her family, even at the expense of herself. I just really liked her and had no problem falling into her head as her story progressed.
The whole story has a great pace. I was never bored or wishing things would happen faster or slower. The world building was well done and I was constantly surprised at the events that took place.
There was a little bit of romance that added a good amount of tension, but it didn't take over the story. I can totally see Reid and this character together, but I don't see how that could possibly happen. I am hoping that Reid falls for a certain someone that she is on the way to meet at the end of the book.
I want more and I'm counting down the days until SHADOW KNIGHTS releases.

I eNAMELESS QUEEN fell in the middle for me. I enjoyed the overall storyline and the characters, but it was lacking the depth that I was looking for.
I enjoyed the characters. There was a wide array of characters in NAMELESS QUEEN. I liked that they found stuff in common even with their varied backgrounds and were able to work together to achieve their overall goals. The pacing was good, I never found myself bored.
The world building is very basic. We get small tidbits of things, but no real details. Nothing really shocked me in NAMELESS QUEEN. There was a bit of mystery as how Coin got to be in her new position, but I guessed it before it was revealed.
I don't regret reading NAMELESS QUEEN and would probably read more in this world if the author ever decided to delve further in.

DEATH KNELL wasn't my favorite installment of The Foundling series so I was a little worried that RISE AGAINST would fall along the same lines. I had DEATH KNELL wasn't my favorite installment of The Foundling series so I was a little worried that RISE AGAINST would fall along the same lines. I had nothing to be worried about.
Luce is continuing to learn about herself and her allies. I enjoy each and everyone on her team. I love the slow release of details, but am glad that by the end of RISE AGAINST it seems that Luce is finally in the know about all the things that have been kept from her and some revelations have cleared up some of the lingering questions I have had since book one.
Luce's relationship with Cole is finally strong. They are both on the same page and work really well together. We learned that they had a child (well, Cole and Conquest specifically) in DEATH KNELL and I wasn't really sure how I felt about it. I'm still not totally sure, but by the end of RISE AGAINST, I was more excited about it.
I totally loved the developments having to do with Rixton. I don't want to give anything away, but I was really excited about how that particular portion of the storyline played out in RISE AGAINST.
After I was done reading RISE AGAINST I only wanted to read more.

I loved this series so much, that I decided to re-read the series last year and in the process of doing that I found out that Kim Harrison was bringing it back. I was overly excited.
After reading AMERICAN DEMON I have come to the conclusion that I not only love the characters and the world, but I could honestly never get sick of anything that happens to Rachel and her gang.
THE RULE is already on my wishlist and I can't wait to see where Harrison brings Rachel, Trent, Jenx, Ivy and the rest of the gang between now and the epilogue in THE WITCH WITH NO NAME. Heck, if Harrison writes it, I would continue to read about her characters from there on as well.

I just love the characters in this series. Their growth, their convictions and their loyalty. I really couldn't love Mercy more, but she continues to surprise me in every installment of her series. She has been through so much and I just love seeing her continue to be herself.
I'm not going to lie, Mercy and Adam's relationship in SMOKE BITTEN really depressed me. It was so sad seeing them in different corners and all I wanted to do was skip to the end to make sure they would be back to their old selves again. Alas I didn't cheat, but my heart was breaking for them.
Some crazy stuff happens in SMOKE BITTEN and it seems to be the setup to something big coming. I can't wait to see where Mercy and the pack end up next.

I can't say that WISHFUL THINKING was an indepth, all encompassing story, but it was fun, fast paced, and had some mystery woven in.
I enjoyed getting to know Saffron. She's smart, a bit quirky, and has a strong sense of loyalty to others, even towards those that want to see her fail.
There isn't any romance in WISHFUL THINKING, but there is the start of a romance and I enjoyed witnessing the connection and partnership between Saffron and her love interest.
I was entertained with WISHFUL THINKING and will keep an eye out for future books.

Lex is still having issues with the events in BOUNDARY BROKEN. She is having nightmares and she want's nothing to do with ghosts. Unfortunately she is needed in Atlanta and there are a lot of ghosts there.
I love Lex, but I also love the rest of her gang. We don't get much of them in BOUNDARY HAUNTED, but I didn't miss them as much as I thought they would. The storyline had a great flow and the action kept me waiting to see what would happen next. I had an inkling of what was happening early on, but the reveal was still great.
Another thing that interested me about BOUNDARY HAUNTED was learning a little more about Quinn's human past. I feel like we might be leading up to maybe more with him and the people he left behind when he was turned? Just a vibe I was getting.
I always enjoy Lex's adventures. I look forward to seeing where Olson takes her next.
