I knew what I was getting into, I've been reading Lee's books for around 15 years now, I've read some of Sonnet's, and I've read some of Bennetti's, but this was like the stars in the sky aligning to create the funniest, grossest book I've read in a while. The story was pretty clever with its use of all the history of The Amityville House brought into a twisted porn shoot. The characters though, were ridiculous and over the top, and I'd have it no other way! But also, I'd be remiss not to mention John Wayne Communale's narration. I don't know how I've managed to go this long without listening to something he's narrated, but he is fantastic! So, yeah, if you want to laugh and be disgusted, then you should check this very extreme book out....more

What I mean by big fan is really Even though the market for the zombie genre is getting over-saturated I’m still a pretty big fan of the living dead. What I mean by big fan is really more toward the visual side, movies, television shows, and video games. It wasn’t until here recently that I started reading books and stories featuring the undead. I used to think that a good zombie apocalypse would be hard to translate to the written word in an entertaining way. I have since realized I was wrong. This book starts out like a lot of horror movies, with kids out partying and getting into trouble. While out joy riding in one of their dads bakery truck they run over what appears to be a drunk guy. They do the horror movie thing and try to cover it up, because that always works so well. The real meat of the story takes place the next day at a convention center, which is rented to a group called Recipe Days during the day time. In the evening the convention center is rented to pro wrestlers coming to do a show. The two groups over lap when the wrestlers show up early. After intimidating the ladies from Recipe Days they help themselves to some doughnuts from a certain bakery truck. What follows is one extremely entertaining read. Once the action kicks in it does not let up. SGJ treats us to a unique and interesting Zombie story where the survivors are not your normal one-dimensional horror fare. His characters are very real, intelligent people fighting for their lives. Also, with his zombies he adds some new interesting twists. Jones is a master storyteller, I have enjoyed everything I’ve read from him quite a bit, and this book was no exception. I have been having trouble reading paper books in a decent amount of time, recently I read e-books because I get through them faster. But I read this as a paper book and it kept me turning the pages and so engrossed in the story that I finished it in about a week. I recommend this book to not only zombie lovers, but anyone who likes action on top of a good story.

This book was really cool, with some great characters in a creepy claustrophobic situation. Things get pretty wierd, there's lots of crazy people and creatures showing up. Once the book starts it doesn't really let up, the action flows from beginning to end. I know this is technically the 4th book in the series, but it didn't make this any less enjoyable. The narration from Curtis Michael Holland was pretty great. Thanks again to Darklit Press for the audiobook!...more

As someone who listens to all the metal bands mentioned in the book, as well as played in bands in the local music scene, this book was like a chunk of my life minus the demons and killing! Zachary is a fantastic writer, this book was deep with the friendship the band had, as well as all the struggles they faced after their singer ruined their big chance. Then there was the killing I mentioned earlier, Zachary does a great job with the gore featured in this one. I don't think you have to be a metal head or a musician to enjoy this wild book, but it definitely will feel special if you are! Shout out to Stephen Ragsdale for the great narration, too! Thanks to Darklit Press for the audiobook!...more

This is a collection oI listened to another kickass audiobook from Jason Nickey, and this time it was his first collection, Static and other stories. This is a collection of 8 stories, and each one was great. I want to highlight my favorites though, Dearest Catherine - written in an epistolary style, it's dark and creepy. Hot Tub Hallucinations - written in 2nd person, this one's wild My Father's Eyes - The son of a serial killer following in his father's footsteps, loved it! If you're looking to read some really good, dark, short stories, check this out, there's not a bad story in the bunch. Narrator C.J. Grey did a great job on these stories as well....more

We already know how great of a storyteller Jason is, and if you don't, I recommend you go and read one of his books and find out. But this one was on another level. Intense, sad, and full of crazy twists, this book may very well Wreck you. Another 5 star read for me, and narrator Tom Jordan was just flat out bad ass!...more
