It felt sort of like she was making it happen where These Silent Woods felt more authentic. But I also realize it's one of her earlist books too.
But it made for a great audio and keeping me busy getting things done! I do want to read her other ones! ...more

The author was training for a Marathon in Athens while she was writing this book. It was inspiring listening to her work through different trials. This book did have a lot of evolution- grateful for a Creator who designed us so well. Thanks LibroFM for the audio copy.
This story is hard! Not for the faint of heart! Absolutely sad and disgusting how people can be blinded by a cult and darkness and truth.

Also a translated book always lends to it being special. Loved how the authors was researching her family and the dual timeline that took place. Stories like theirs should never be forgotten and the way the book was written as a refreshing perspective on yet “another” Holocaust story. But every person has a name and needs to be remembered.
I thought the political aspect was very interesting as even now today we see Palestine and Israel in the news.
There was content at the end of the book that I didn’t like and didn’t see the need for it to be added. It didn’t really lend to the story and could have been skipped.

It was such a balanced looked at all the ages of parenting. Lots and lots of grace. I feel like the author is coming from an appraoch that so many of us need. Authoritative and legalistic backgrounds lead to things we were never taught or allowed to talk through situations. We were taught just to do because that's what the church taught or other Christian did.
Now as a teen parent we try to talk talk talk and build loving and safe places where our teens can question and grow and learn. This book was a refreshing and balanced look at what our kids need now during this era!
It's a book for parents with teens and older kids now. It's a book for parents with babies. It's a book for future parents. It's a book giving grace to mistakes made in the past. It's a book giving knowledge to do better now!

Always motivational to hear others success stories and hard work stories. Nothing comes easy and it’s usually the 5 and 6 am risers that succeed. But this book had practical steps to achieve that getting up early!
Not written in a Christian Worldview that I hold but I can still learn and use the principal and steps and disregard the parts I personally don’t hold too.

It’s a call to keep on serving and loving and taking care of yourself regardless of our culture and modern demands. Schmidt gives examples from his own life of ministry and lessons he has learned of what to do before depletion.

I knew what was coming and still was held captive. Multiple moments of tearing up. Loved how the author weaved so many Bible truths and passages into the story.
Looking forward to this debut author and other stories with characters during the church age.

She was Mrs. Abraham’s seamstress and later personal assistant during her life.
I did not enjoy the way the book was written. It told me how the characters were feeling and what they were thinking. So many facts and historical details were presented at a rapid pace. I felt like a lot of liberty was taken in the characters and the fictional part.
The book became more of what happend to Mrs. Lincoln vs the Dressmaker herself. She had a beautiful story to tell how she helped her people.

I felt the author was vulnerable and authentic and so real in sharing her struggles of insecurities, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacies. All these things we struggle with every day. Loved the cultural aspect of her heritage as well- as she didn’t blame her upbringing but it played a part.
When our strivings cease we can fully dwell and love richly in God’s amazing grace. How wonderful to know we Donny have to do or be to attain this. He gives it Toni’s freely.
