I have more questions than answers overall with this trilogy, but I don't regret having read it, so we'll take that for the win. 3.5 stars!...more

The first few chapters were giving Percy Jackson + zombies, but it kind of lost that fun, quippy quality as the story progressed, and I missed it. I have more questions than answers at the end (what's necessary to make someone a zombie? do they already have to be dead or is the zombie-ness the thing that kills them? how do they know which zombies to kill and which ones to leave alone? how does one even kill a zombie?) but I'm hoping some of these will get answered in the rest of the series, which I'll probably be reading soon. 3.5 stars from me!...more

I very much enjoyed book 1 in this series (TheThe way this completely consumed me to the point where I listened to the whole thing in a day? ✨iconic✨
I very much enjoyed book 1 in this series (The Matchmaker's Lonely Heart) but the bit of feedback I'd seen implied that THIS was pretty much everyone's favorite of the series, and after reading it, I can absolutely see why. Fake dating? Friends to lovers? Adorable banter? A capable female lead AND a swoon-worthy male lead? What's not to love??
I really loved both the lead characters, and I so appreciated that both of them accepted their attraction to each other pretty quickly, but that attraction was built on personality as well as looks. They've known each other for well over a year when the story starts (if I'm remembering correctly) and both know they genuinely care for the other, which leads to some adorable, heart-warming interactions.
The mystery element wasn't present through most of the book (I mean it is, to a degree, but it doesn't turn into a murder mystery until 60% ish?) but I didn't mind. It did lead to some intensity but nothing too gruesome. It's really more of a romance with a dash of mystery, rather than the other way around.
Overall I had a wonderful time reading this, and I'm so excited to see what book 3 has in store! 5 stars from me!...more
