Two fathers trying to solve the murders of their sons. Lots of pew pew and beating up people... which in theory isn't really my thing for contemporary settings but I loved this.
I like how the author handled the topics of homophobia and racism. I found myself very attached to the characters and wanting them to succeed.
(4.5) I'm a big fan of any kind of time loop and this is a fun one!
I would call this a "mom book" because frankly it's the perfect book club read. Mot(4.5) I'm a big fan of any kind of time loop and this is a fun one!
I would call this a "mom book" because frankly it's the perfect book club read. Mother sees her son murdering a man and she keeps going back in time every time she wakes up. Think, "butterfly effect" as she's trying to figure out how they ended up in that situation.
The ending was overall good. These books are always hard to end.
I had almost given up on the genre after being underwhelmed with a lot of the popular ones (The Stand, Swan Song, etc.). I found them needlessly sexually violent and too military for my taste. I found that this one handle the topic better.
Controversial Korean feminist book following a woman who according to the people around her is "losing it". I really enjoyed this book. Warning: The writing is on the dry side but I felt like the ending explained it.

Quite frankly I'm often hoping the main female character will realize that the douche-canoe she's dating needs to be dumped but... this one was cute! I also really appreciated the positive representation of a childfree woman.

The main character is full of regrets after attempting suicide and ends up in a library where she gets to try all the other lives she could have lived.
This books was heartbreaking and unputdownable. My main regret is starting it late at night because I had to wait until the next day to finish it!
The writing was beautiful and hit almost too close for comfort. I can't recommend it enough!
(view spoiler)[The only portion that made me nervous was towards the end. I'm always wary of the "a husband and a child will fix this woman". Luckily, it wasn't the case! (hide spoiler)]...more
The stars and the moon disappear and nobody knows why and how...
Character driven first contact with aliens with lots of science... This. Was. Amazing.
The stars and the moon disappear and nobody knows why and how...
Character driven first contact with aliens with lots of science... yes please! If you enjoyed Contact by Carl Sagan, you ought to give this book a try.
I don't give 5 stars that often but I'm always excited when I get to do it. This was unique, unexpected, a bit of a slow burn but I couldn't put it down.
A new favorite book, I absolutely recommend it!...more
