Good on audio narrated by JoannWhile it took me a while to get into this one, it was ultimately a satisfying, feel-good wondrous adventure of a book! Good on audio narrated by Joanna Lumley and Jordan Stephens, this book begins with retired Math teacher, Grace Winters receiving a letter from an old friend telling her she's left Grace her ramshackle house on the tiny island of Ibiza.
With no responsibilities holding her back, Grace embarks on a life-changing trip with a one way ticket to take her chance starting over in a whole new country. Filled with magical realism, a mysterious gift-giving sea creature and a compelling mystery to find out what really happened to Grace's friend, Christina.
Told with short chapters, letters and mainly from Grace's perspective, this novel deals with grief, forgiveness, the power of community and the importance of fighting against environmental corruption and capitalism. I also really enjoyed Grace's philosophical mathematical musings.

While I don't think this topped The midnight library for me, it was still quite original and entertaining. Recommended for fans of books like The brilliant life of Eudora Honeysett....more

Bisexual actor Tom's life flashed before his eyes when he gets caught in the hurricane and he vows to try to repair his relationship with Rose - the one big regret of his life was letting her go. Rose meanwhile is stuck trying to repair her family's inn in the aftermath of the storm and Tom volunteers to help her with the renovations.
Throw in some of Tom's castmates, Rosie's elderly ill aunt and Tom's ex boyfriend, mega movie star, Boyd Kellagher and things definitely get out of hand. But everyone bands together to help the couple and they do eventually find their way back to one another.
While I liked the narration by Savannah Peachwood, I wasn't a huge fan of the two main characters as a couple and struggled to buy into their second chance romance. Just an okay read for me and not one I would go out of my way to recommend. Brynn is a recently divorced woman who just celebrated her 30th birthday and while the day was a dud, she always can find joy watching re-runs of her favorite show, Carson's Cove.
While watching an episode with her bartender roommate, Josh, a mysterious cake delivery arrives and when Brynn makes a wish for her own happily ever after, her and Josh get sucked into an alternate universe where they are characters in the actual world of Carson's Cove.
This was funny, full of heart and had lots of character growth. I loved the message that life doesn't always turn out the way you want it to and that's okay. Josh and Brynn have great chemistry and this was a delightful magical realism roommate romp perfect for fans of authors like Holly James or Lauren Kate.

Heartfelt and told with flashbacks from the years when the couple first meet, fall in love and are there for one another during the hardest time of Sarah's life when she loses her single mother to ALS. I really loved that we got to see the couple rekindle their relationship and learn to truly communicate better.
There was some great cameos from Bo and Win and their daughter Gus and this book does such a great job exploring toxic parental relationships, grief, loss and learning how to chase after your dreams to live the life you really want, even if it means starting over later in life.
