It built up my faith so much that the next time I started to get sick with a sore throat I was able to discern the cause immediately – false accusation – and fight against it. I got better within an hour. The Power of Right Believing is like a handbook for right living, worth reading over and over again. Each time you glean something new from it. I highly recommend it to anyone who may be battling depression, sickness, worry, or any other type of distress. It is great medicine. ...more

This is a man who doesn’t mince words. For him, no wavering in faith is allowed. You either believe or you don’t, but he always acknowledges Jesus as the source of all faith. With him, it is all about knowing Christ and leaning on Him, rather than trying to live the Christian life in one’s own strength. It's not the kind of book you want to rush through, however, or you may miss the point of what he's saying. There are parts which, upon further meditation become clear. As with any nonfiction book, the stories are may favorite parts - so inspirational!...more

Readers, prepare to be majorly convicted and greatly encouraged as you read this book which is all about Christians learning to destroy the things thaReaders, prepare to be majorly convicted and greatly encouraged as you read this book which is all about Christians learning to destroy the things that steal their strength and ruin their witness for God. This writer strikes a needed blow to idols of hypocrisy and self will that every believer needs to overcome in order to live a life that glorifies God.
A main focus on this book is repentance, which as Joh explains, involves not only a change of mind but a radical change of heart toward God. Repentance involves the whole person and is only possible through God’s grace as he/she submits themselves completely to Christ.
What I love the most about this book are the real life examples this author gives, sharing his own journey and struggles to submit to God. He can truly relate to the stubbornness we all wrestle with when told to put to death our own self-will in order to serve Christ. Though hard-hitting when it comes to sin, this book is full of hope. If you wonder what it means to truly believe in Jesus, to have true saving faith rather than a half-hearted commitment, then this book is for you. ...more

It's almost like a "Lassie, Come Home" story, except that it's about an Irish Setter accidentally left to fend for itself and (hopefully) find a mate in the process. The dog's life is closely intertwined with the people who love him as well as those who are convinced the dog must be destroyed. I liked this book even better than Big Red. ...more

There were a few parts, however, especially near the beginning, where I wish the author had gone into greater detail, with more dialogue to develop the suspense. For the most part I was happy with the ending, which seemed - for the most part - to be in line with a Christian point of view. All in all, I liked this book, which draws in characters from earlier stories as well as adding new ones. There were definitely some surprises near the end, which is to be expected.
