This novel was so close to 5 stars! I was engrossed as I listened to the wonderful narrator of the audiobook. However, the ending is left too open for interpretation. I don’t need to have every loose end tied up to enjoy a book but I wanted a few more answers. Unless the author has something else in mind?

It’s a mesmerizing psychological thriller with memorable characters. I would have devoured this amazing novel in one sitting, if possible! This unique story is more than a thriller. It discusses sensitive topics and coping methods used by different families. It’s eye-opening and I didn’t expect to feel such deep empathy and emotion. And Karissa Vacker is of my favorite narrators!
OMG…the surprises and twists that are divulged as the author guides us to the passionate conclusion that will disturb you enough to entertain the thought of murder!
Ms. Willingham focuses on Isabelle. A mother who has lived through a parent’s worst nightmare. One night while she and her husband slept, her son Mason was taken. Some chapters throw us back to Isabelle’s tragic childhood. Those chapters were fun yet heartbreaking. And the most insightful regarding Isabelle’s struggles.
It’s been one year since Mason was taken and the police still have no clues. Ben is convinced he is dead. As with most couples that lose a child, their relationship didn’t survive. He’s moved on and pressed Isabelle to do the same. She can’t. Finding her missing son has consumed her life and she literally can’t sleep.
“All of those little microsleeps throughout the day: mere seconds of intense, deep, bewildering unconsciousness that seem to come out of nowhere and evaporate just as fast.”
She meets a true-crime podcaster and agrees to be interviewed. But something seems off about him and his interest in her past and husband.
I’d love to go into more detail about the story but unfortunately, I can’t do that without adding spoilers.

I’m so excited to have recently discovered Ms. McFadden. The few books I’ve read are exceptionally twisted and she has many more that I’ve added to my TBR list. She’s amazing at fabricating tangled psychological thrillers!
A newlywed couple drives through a snowstorm to look at a house in a remote location. Most people would check the weather when driving a BMW way out to the boondocks, but not them! When the agent doesn’t show up, they find a way into the house to get out of what has become a blizzard. Ethan immediately falls in love with the beautiful, enormous house but Tricia thinks it’s creepy. The house has been empty for a few years and is still filled with the previous owner’s belongings. Everything suggests she left the house, intending to return. After some snooping, they find the house was owned by a famous psychiatrist—Dr. Hale—that went missing years earlier. And Tricia found a secret room where Dr. Hale stashed audio tapes of all of her client sessions. Tricia starts listening to them and can’t stop until she unravels some of the mysteries surrounding the house and the previous owner.
My last two reads were intense so this was fun and light in comparison.

Kaira Rouda’s juicy political thriller, The Widow, is a must-read! She delves into the dark side of politics, bringing out just a hint of compassion in readers for this group of dirtbags. I normally dislike political novels but her excellent writing and diabolical characters make this a riveting read that is hard to put down!
Behind the smiles, lies, and glitz...into the darkness of scandals and indiscretions. There are no friends on the Hill. Favors are not free. Everyone has a price. Someone is always watching. Trying to expose your secrets and take you down. No one is who you think they are. And NO ONE can be trusted!
Martin and Jody Asher are a golden couple in politics. Martin is charismatic and everyone loves him. Jody is the supportive spouse that keeps things running perfectly behind the scenes.
But Jody isn’t someone you want as a friend or enemy! She’s power-hungry, arrogant, and devious. A character that you love to hate. I was glued to the pages as I waited for someone to knock her off the invisible pedestal she thought she was on! I was kept in suspense as she came close, only to come out smelling like a rose. Would it ever happen?
I pictured Martin as JFK but I couldn’t imagine Jody as Jackie. She was too backstabbing and narcissistic. I could never quite visualize any one person as Jody.
Ms. Rouda is one of my top authors and I pounce on her books as soon as I see them…without reading the description. Yes! She’s that good.

The Hixton Five is a gang of five inseparable girls—Hannah, Jill, Rosie, Tash, and Lauren. They have a rule—no boys allowed. But then they allow Miles in. Jill’s brother is always following along, anyway.
Their summer becomes even more enjoyable when they discover an exciting hangout with new friends. Everything is wonderful until the monster appears and Miles is gone.

In Ms. Keogh’s latest thriller, we’re introduced to Allison who appears to be an ordinary accountant. However, when she meets Peter, a wealthy lawyer, she decides to spice up her appearance and evolve into the woman he longs to marry. But secrets surrounding her childhood are kept hidden from everyone and Peter is no different.
After just a few months of marriage, Peter is killed in a terrible accident and we are taken down a rabbit hole of chilling twists! I was blown away as the horrific secrets of Allison’s past are slowly revealed. Complicated characters make for one warped psychological tale!

The description is slightly misleading. Yes…Sky is in St. Tropez, on top of the world, but this is a quick getaway with a man she recently met. And he sounds too good to be true.
This terrorism thriller reads like a Lifetime movie..with surprise twists and too much romance. The romance was too much for me. Thrillers that contain romance should have a warning label! I know a lot of readers like the instant chemistry and sappy exchange but not me. Although the writing and plot are terrific, I don’t think this author is for me.

Single parents, each with a daughter, get married and leave their two teens in a remote cabin overnight, forcing them to become acquainted quickly. Their evening turns into days as the girls battle a multitude of disasters……a fire, solar flares that cause a blackout, attempted break-ins, an encounter with a mountain lion, and a blizzard, to name a few. Oops, I forgot the budding romance with a young man who claims to be lost. All of this, especially the teen romance, was too much for me.

After reading one letter that contains surprising information suggesting Phil wasn’t the person she thought he was. Making it necessary for her to examine her relationship and the people around her.
This was a quick read, with interesting twists, but the ending wasn’t as surprising as I anticipated.

The main story centers around three friends that grew up together and came to LA to make it big. And they did…together. They are all household names but leaving Glasgow wasn’t entirely voluntary and the big secret they share tears their friendship apart.
BOOK QUOTE: “Whisky. Makes the world seem like a better place when it’s all gone to crap.”
As the story progresses, we get a glance into the life of each and the cost of their fame and fortune.
There are a lot of real-life people and places thrown in which adds to this fun read. It’s not all tragedy but it isn’t a happily-ever-after tale, either. It’s the perfect combination of glitz, glamor, money, and sex. This book was a terrific break from my usual read!

I enjoyed both but “The Blame Game” has them beat. What a wild trip. I’m still trying to comprehend the confusing, but mesmerizing and mind-blowing, twists…and conclusion. Naomi is a psychologist with a tragic past, who is determined to help other victims. Her biggest flaw…she can’t say no. She’s a sucker for a sob story and attempts to help anyone in need. Even though her husband, Leon, is firmly opposed and she crosses professional boundaries.
Jacob needs to escape an abusive wife. She offers him an empty flat, owned by her and her husband, which they plan to rent out. Her husband is not on board with this plan so she doesn’t share this info with him…cringe. Another patient desperately needs to flee her abusive marriage. Naomi to the rescue again. She defies her husband by offering a spare bedroom and these acts of kindness place her in the center of a puzzling investigation. As the saying goes…no good deed goes unpunished.
