When I say that I expected something else from this series that would be an understatement. All these books have so much more to then than I initially thought would be the case. They deal with lots of mental health, fear, anger, shame. They dive deep into the emotions of these characters, with a backdrop of F1 racing which is already stress inducing.
This book is about Santiago, which I had been looking forward to since I met him in Throttled. In all the other books he had been so carefree, a gentleman but a jokester. He was a ray of sunshine and maybe a bit naive. When you meet him in this one all of that isn’t the case anymore. He’s broken down, secluded himself from everyone and everything that was once dear to him. He feels a lot of guilt and shame and anger towards everything that happened to him. And he faults himself for it. Until this woman falls out of a tree in his garden.
Honestly, this was the most adult one in the series. They communicated AMAZINGLY. They made choices that I could get behind. And even the 3rd act conflict wasn’t annoying because you knew that they both had to deal with their own shit and trauma before they could logically look at the problem at hand.
Y’all did not lie when you said that she saved the best book for last. Although I felt more emotionally attached to Jax and Elena’s story due to my own personal experiences, I felt as much of an appreciation to Santiago and Chloe. Their chemistry was outstanding, and I loved their little glimpses into the future.
I’m 100% ready for the story between Marko and Stella. The amount of little glimpses we have had of them feels illegal and I needed that book like yesterday.
Anyway, do yourself a pleasure and go read this whole series.

At this point I’m pretty sure I can be a convincing pirate myself! So for me to say this was one of the best ones I’ve read while they weren’t actual willing pirates, ugh this was amazing.
Vice was an incredibly flawed character, and I absolutely loved her for it. Most flaws came to be because of pain of being hurt again, which makes it the start of a journey instead the end of one. I’m spotting a lot of character development on the rise! (haha do you get it?? pirate joke?)
Knigh was so, uh, Knigh. HAHA. He is stuck in his ways, lost the ability to loosen up, but luckily he has a very fun pirate to chase so it’s fine *wink wink* No, Knigh was awesome. The way he is so soft under all the masks he uses to hide himself, ugh, yes.
But the real star of the show is of course Barnacle, the cat. How could I not.
If you like pirates, and a bit of spice, and a lot of banter, and sexual tension, and a cat named Barnacle. Go read this book....more
To be really honest with all of you, i lowkey despise the friends to lover trope because it’s never done well. This. This, though.Ugh, this was perfect.

Not only were Fox and Hannah absolutely stunningly believable. Their 80% mark (yk when everything goes to shit) was not based on other’s problems but on Fox’s inability to believe he could be loved. This was a reoccurring theme in the book, and something that felt so believable.
Last but not least. I’m a pretty avid book crying. I cry because of sad scenes. Happy ones. Hopeful things. But sea shanties and elderly bingo can be added to the list.
Thank you to the author for gifting me an eArc so I could read this masterpiece of a book early.
I just finished this book mere seconds ago, so sorry i Thank you to the author for gifting me an eArc so I could read this masterpiece of a book early.
I just finished this book mere seconds ago, so sorry if this whole review is utter chaos and so incoherent that you won’t understand any of it.
I don’t think I’ve ever felt this much pain and sorrow while reading a book, however, i also don’t think I have ever read such realistic and amazingly sculpted characters before.
The reason why it was so painful was because they felt like friends. Until the last page it felt as if I was saying goodbye to friends, and that makes it even more difficult to close it when I was done.
Tisaanah is a character I immediately loved from the start, and the way she grew throughout this story is mindblowing. She’s so strong and so cunning. How she will tear the world apart just for the cause she believes in. Absolutely stunning.
And then we have Maxantarius Farlione. Max is me. I’m Max. The way I found myself in Max was kind of scary. The way he runs away because he’s too scared to face what he has endured, the way how he still keeps looking back because that’s what will save everyone in the end. The way he had nothing to hold on to for so long and found that little spark in Tisaanah. To keep going. To push forward. To look back to the dark past and still keep going. His story was absolutely heartbreaking but I don’t think I wouldn’t want a better ending for him then the author gave him. Pure content.
Aefe was such a impressive written character. I can’t believe how much we’ve seen her grow in a few hundred pages. The agony she felt with everything she did, the betrayals that haunted her wherever she went. The way her story concluded was so beautiful for her. She deserved it. And I mean that in a good way.
The epilogue made me bawl my eyes out. It was perfect in every single way.
This series has crept up to me and will not let me go anymore. Carissa Broadbent, I’m glad I’ve found you as an author, and I want to thank you for the impeccable pain you have caused me. Because although it hurt, I don’t think I would’ve wanted to miss out on such a wonderfully woven story with characters I will not forget for a long time.
I had some solid time to dry my tears, so let’s get into All Rhodes Lead Here.
I’m not going to lie, this book started very slow, it wasn’t necessarilyI had some solid time to dry my tears, so let’s get into All Rhodes Lead Here.
I’m not going to lie, this book started very slow, it wasn’t necessarily uninteresting but it’s very slow paced at beginning. Which isn’t bad on itself, just not what I was looking for when I started this a couple of months ago.
But then I picked it up again. Read a chapter. Laid it back down again. Repeat.
Until at one point, around the 80 page mark, it clicked. This was the book for me at this moment. And I absolutely loved every second of it.
The main problem I often have with romances is that the romance comes out of nowhere. The only problem I also have is that I kinda hate slow burn stand alone romances, because let’s be honest, if I’m reading a standalone romance I want them to at least have had a kiss before the 50% mark.
However, Mariana Zapata delivered. The romance felt so well developed, from them becoming friends first, and with actual good communication turning it into something more. And even though I normally read romance books for the romance, this wasn’t the only reason why I kept on reading this book.
I genuinely loved Aurora as a character, and how she had lost so much and still found reasons to make herself push through and put a smile on her face. She made friendships with people who (at least at first) didn’t deserve her kindness. She kept trying, and it paid off. She did seem a bit childish at first, but that’s maybe because her cheerfulness comes over very naive, while this is just the way she prefers to be.
What hooked me in was not Rhodes, the grumpy tenant with amazing hair. It was Amos. His son. The hospital scene actually made me pick up the book the next day, and the next, and the next until I finished it. It was a turning point.
I don’t think you should pick this up if you are just looking for a romance book, with spice, and a make out scene before the 50% mark. You should pick this up when you want a love story.
My first, and for sure not my last Mariana Zapata book.
5/5
