You know, I thought about 3-starring because the writing was serviceable and worldbuilding was competent... but no. I'm not going to 3-star books I slogged through, sorry. Boring plot, characters, ship, everything. The hero was only interesting for a page when he punched the heroine's useless brother.
Disappointing from an author I've previously enjoyed (and unfortunately more evidence that self-pub authors lose their juice in trad pub). Read via audio (narrated by Nina Yndis).

I don't know what everyone else read, but this was not smooth sailing for Nessian fans and Elriel haters!!! Imagine waiting three years for Silver Flames... Nessian shippers were within their rights to **** *** and no jury would've convicted.
If you can give 50K pointless words for Feysand, you have to do the same for Nessian. Please. Let them be happy and romantic and nauseating. ...more

First read on April 15, 2023: I adore this series. I could read a dozen more novellas set in this world, so I hope that Vo isn’t planning an ending point anytime soon. We finally learn more about Singing Hills and the neixin! After Cleric Chih recording the stories of his travels for the last three installments, it was deeply moving for the story to occupy a place closer to home. Bring tissues because I cried buckets.
