I guess that narrator has exactly 2 voices - the growly accented dude and the flamboyantly gay dude. It annoyed me that different characters sounded exactly the same as characters from the first book in this series.
This is a gay romance in space, in a society that modified human soldiers to either be mind readers or mind controllers, and some of their children inherited the skills. This is the story of a very powerful (and socially upper crust) mind reader who is a complete f-up getting "synched" and enlisted against his will to a military mind controller. The controller is a stickler for rules and justice and won't force the synch. There are also lots of political intrigues happening.
There's no romance until the very end of the book, and it's not graphic. Mostly, the book is action scenes. ...more

It's very violent, so I decided not to continue past the first few chapters. The serial killers only target other serial killers for their victims, but this is not justice-based killing. It's definitely for the enjoyment of murdering in gruesome ways. The audio book is very well done, by the way....more

There's a lot of adrenaline and violence in the story, but it's not center-stage most of the time. I liked all of the main characters and appreciated the character growth through the story. There's also an interesting twist at the end that sets up the next book(s). I'm guessing this is intended as a trilogy. ...more

There are bad guys after him, intending to sacrifice the teen to their god. We see lots of Roman's cool powers and learn how his pantheon works. It's a fun read. ...more

The premise is that there's this starship captain - bottom of his class, in charge of a hunk of junk hauler with a crew of only a handful of misfits. He's supposed to drop off toy robot dogs to a settlement. They arrive and no one's home, so they land to investigate and discover some scary nano-bug things that goopified the people. Then they go back to Earth. Only of course a few of the nanos ended up in the toy dogs. So while the captain and his crew are doing a test run of the newest spaceship (he has a knack for bringing out all of a spaceship's bugs and glitches), things go really wrong on Earth. The rest of the book is about fighting space robots shaped like dogs. It's weird, but in a very entertaining way....more

The 4 books and 2 novellas of Darkly Sweet, then the 2 books of Wit the Wicked, then the 3 books of Arrietty in Underland. Each series corresponds to one of the 3 dragon lords. They were all very good. I'm a big fan of this author now.
I adored the Darkly Sweet books - they were ridiculous and funny in the very best ways, with some darker urban fantasy woven through. Penny is the primary character of Darkly Sweet and I adored her. Her love interest Drake (dragonlord of Violence) is also fantastically odd.
The Wit (Whitley) books were also very good, but Wit is a harder heroine to love. I listed to some of these books on Audible for free (virtual voice narration, but not horrible.) Ian is her love interest (dragonlord of Lust).
The Arrietty books were the most violent and edgy with a lot less humor than the other books, which I suppose makes sense for Prince, the dragonlord of Death. ...more

The chemistry between Ash and Levi is quite steamy, and the friend sidekicks are very entertaining. The mystery is also very involved - you don't see the end coming from a mile away. And it makes me laugh out loud sometimes, which is awesome. The narrator has just the right amount of snark in her delivery, too. All around, quite good, especially as an audiobook.
This one is about an alleged angel's feather that promises the holder their heart's desire. It's also the deepening of Ash's indenture to the Queen of Hearts and some revelations about the source and purpose behind her newly-woken powers.

II did not expect this book to take a serious turn - the title makes it sound silly and funny. It's still very good, and I liked it as an audio book. I just thought it would be geared younger based on the title. I'd say this is for adults. It's about a dragon exterminator, his friends, a very pretty princess with too many suitors, a prince who doesn't live up to his father's expectations as well as the prince's valet, an old enemy of the prince's dad, and a whole bunch of dragons.
