This book had so much repetition that it could probably be cut down by a 1/4. I definitely knew Evelyn wouldn't be able to 'move on' until she knew what happened to Cassie The repetition did not enhance the story, it made it drag.
There is a glaring error at the conclusion. Evelyn had lose her gun and it had been picked up by the Uncle. Yet when she goes down in the cellar at the first thing she does is draw her gun. Pretty magical gun - more like a Potterseque artifact.
Have deleted from my Kindle never to be remembered again.
