it was amazing

This is without a doubt the best book I have read in a long time. The prose is reminiscent of Toni Morrison, and immediately puts me in the mind of Sula. While my electronic copy was riddled with Oprah's mindless quotes, not even the "big O" could distract from the hauntingly real and disturbingly graphic passages Bond penned. Conjuring, human trafficking, small town southern life, and love are the main topics discussed in Bond's debut novel, which is part one of a trilogy. I'm sure we will be seeing this book on college reading list and Ruby will discussed and compared to the other literary social pariahs like Sula Peace, Meridian Hill, and Janie Starks. Bond truly gives us the 21st-century version of magical realism, and totally absorbs the reader. I cannot wait for the next chapter in this trilogy!
