*sigh* The more I think about this the sadder I get...

Original review:
I'm not going to rate this right now because honestly I don't what to think about it. Reading this really felt like Harry Potter fan-fiction to me, partly because it's hard to wrap my head around an 8th (sort of) Harry Potter story and partly because reading it as a play instead of a novel just made it feel...less like Harry Potter. I didn't dislike it; I definitely didn't love it--but I do want to be fair and say that reading a play is never, never as good as seeing the live production. In theory maybe this book shouldn't exist because it won't ever do the story justice. However, I'm glad I got to read it because I don't think I'll ever get to London to see the real deal, and at least now I know what it's all about.

Terri Really?? I hadn't heard about this. I must be living under a rock!

message 2: by ryan (new) - added it

ryan wilkey Thinking the same thing.

message 3: by Su (new) - rated it 1 star

Su I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought it felt like fan-fiction :/

Itsskelseyy I'm completely agree about the "fanfiction" part

Karleigh Me too. Def fan fiction

Vanessa I'm not reading the spoilers until I've read it, but I'm genuinely nervous to read this now :( I wasn't super excited for it or anything, so maybe I won't find it incredibly disappointing, but I dunno... Hope it doesn't taint HP for me!

Danielle ♥ Just remember, you aren't going to get the old same feelings because they are 19 years older, and by page 50, 3 years have already passed and its 22 years later, so we need to remember they are 22 years older than they were when we left off.

Margaux Andrea Ooh, I actually forgot about Teddy! But he was a very important character at the end of Deathly Hallows, so it IS weird why he was not even mentioned in this supposed sequel.

Jacob McCabe I wasn't as disappointed at all. Hm. I see your points though. The time-turner stuff pissed me off at first before they explained how there's different kinds of time-turners. I don't know, I think I was just resigned to be a bit disappointed when I started, so I ended up loving it. Bummer.

Lynn Carrabino (Lynnie’s Library) I felt the same way! I feel so let down.

message 11: by Judy (new) - added it

Judy Chessin What Maxwell said!!!! Review is better than the play!

message 12: by Vera (new) - rated it 1 star

Vera Conceição I feel you. I avoided writing a review for weeks just because it made me sad thinking about it...

Mariana Schneider The trolley witch made me go "what the fuck am I reading? This is worse than all the fanfiction I read in my teens! Those had Harry and Draco making out, how can this manage to be worse??"

Vera Conceição Mariana wrote: "The trolley witch made me go "what the fuck am I reading? This is worse than all the fanfiction I read in my teens! Those had Harry and Draco making out, how can this manage to be worse??""

It's an achievement for sure...

Fatemeh Baktash completely agree. It was a total waste of time.I prefer to believe the future that I had created in my own imagination.bullshit...so disappointed...

message 16: by Duaa (new) - rated it 1 star

Duaa Saqlain so true all of it. the only redeeming quality was that it had harry potter in it and that also wasnt for long.

Raven Hotch YOU PEOPLE ARE CRAZY IT WAS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

Susana M. you mean Rose Granger-Weasley being in it for long enough to be a stuck-up b*tch :(

Lara xoxo i have not read it yet so glad to know it is good

Francesca I agree with this. I actually didn't mind it being a play and was able to imagine the scenery and sets anyway but the story itself was just so wrong, IMO.

Also, the trolley witch part freaked me out! There's a scene in the movie 'Ghost' where he's on a train and another ghost lunges forwards towards the camera, shouting at him, and that part scared me when I first saw it and still creeps me out and it made me think of that so it gave me the creeps.

Christy I completely agree. It depressed the hell out of me. I wish I could scrub it from my brain

message 22: by Amy (new) - rated it 2 stars

Amy Yes it was awful. I too wish it could be scrubbed from my brain. How could the essence of all the characters be lost for the sake of a new instalment. The only saving factor- I got to read a new Harry Potter book.

SpinTheLion てぇぼおっづくり今十分あるpぁ
its a failure its just a play

Farzia Afroze this is exactly what I'm feeling after reading the book

message 25: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer Shinohara When did Bellatrix have time to procreate (I never even got the impression that Voldemort would even think about sex(revolting to even consider it)), get pregnant and give birth to this "daughter" before she died at the hand of Mrs.Weasley?!?! Not unless wizards know something muggles don't about gestation.... And that's just one of the many, many, sad inconsistencies/things about this play.. Not worth taking the time to read like everybody on here is saying it is Fanfic at its worst. Your better off rereading all the original series instead.

Shauna screen shotted your review. you said everything I'm feeling. THANK YOU for calling out the trolley witch!

Willow This is DIFFERENTLY not the best Harry Potter book, but it's no way the worst book that I have read,at least Harry,Hermione and Ron are in it!!!

Holly I definitely agree with you. I had wanted to read this book for so long, but it did NOT live up to my expectations at all. This is coming from a big Potterhead, I love Harry Potter. I was very disappointed with this book. It would be fun to see the play, but I don't think I will read it again.

message 29: by Beefington (new)

Beefington if I could I would give this book zero stars. I didn't bother writing a review because I didn't want to think about it. it was utter rubbish. golden ort having a child? what is this? he was conceived under a love potion, he has an inability to feel love. he's the asexual of all asexuals. we all know Bellatrix loved him but I doubt he would indulge her. also Bellatrix showed no signs of being pregnant seeing as though the baby would have to be made before the battle of hogwarts. the time turners, just no. what happened to the previous genius idea? why has it turned into this?! I LOVE hp. I'm a hard core potter head but THIS? I can't. it was literally THE WORST thing I've ever read. was worse than stupid Snamione (have no idea how that came into being) fanfictions! it's exactly what it was a terrible fanfiction. this will never be considered canon by me.

Sophia I totally agree with you
It was TERRIBLE x55555555555454444456677889999

susie WHEN YOU WATCH THE ACTUAL PLAY ITS BETTER I SWEAR

Tucker Family as a life long potterhead I can completely agree with ths review that has been sent down from the heavens. But to be honest I thoigjt the whole trolley witch thing was super funny, how anyone can come up with an idea worse than... I do not know.

Agewen Stifford CHEERS FOR SCORPIUS. I really love him<3

Soumi Sarkar i dont care about rose granger but what bugs me is, "because you dont have a child!" i think everyone knows what im talking about

Caroline I agree, I did dislike it. I refuse to call tjis the 8th Harry Potter book

message 36: by megan (new)

megan amber I completely agree with this. I was soo excited, I had always wanted an 8th book, but after this I can say that 7 is where it needs to stay. As someone who writes fanfiction, this is exactly what it read like - very, very bad fanfiction. Although it's considered canon, I will never call it that.

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

What about Hermione?
Doesn't Hermione get some pity?
For being forced into a role she does not fit,
for being a mad old hag without RON,

message 38: by Albert (new) - added it

Albert Hi people I read HP all of them two times

message 39: by Albert (new) - added it

Albert The play bummed me I hoped for a real book

message 40: by [deleted user] (new)

I read Harry Potter at least twice a month, and the play infuriated me so much I almost destroyed the book -but didn't, it was a library book ;)- I feel like it is there to destroy the good name of Harry Potter.

message 41: by Moonwatcher (new)

Moonwatcher They sabotaged the trolly witch!

message 42: by [deleted user] (new)

I know, I loved the trolley witch!

Liniya Jain The most accurate review.

message 44: by J (new) - rated it 3 stars

J I agree, and Scorpius is what makes the book a bit interesting.

message 45: by emily (new) - added it
