SPOILER FREE VIDEO REVIEW: https://youtu.be/WUFTFkyDHlY

2.5* (I think)
So here's the deal. I went into this being apprehensive. My expectations were low and I was right. I just felt like Harry Potter's story ended where it had to end. The questions that were left unanswered kept the story alive as I would imagine what might be going on in their lives as adults. This answers all those questions and then some. I wanted to rate this higher but I think 2.5 is as high as I can go. These characters didn't feel like the characters I fell in love with. The story had cringe worthy moments and honestly felt like fan fiction. I think seeing this actually performed would be incredible, but reading it was just, average. Might do a video review so I can go more into depth because I definitely have more to say.

Mac I am too! :)

thelostbookshelves I'm reading it too :3 So excited!

Sarah I feel exactly the same way, sadly. I had so hoped that this would of been good.

message 4: by Roos ❤️ (new) - added it

Roos ❤️ I feel so guilty about not liking it that much :( if I will ever be able to go watch the play I hope that will be 10 x better.

Kayla Gorman I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that thought it felt like reading fan fiction. I also HATE how ron was basically only there for comic relief.

Giulia when I think Scorpius said "no way jose" I was like what the heck when did this dictation ever exist in the real HP. I also didn't get why Ron was such a dud. Personally I gave it a 3 because I just really enjoyed Scorpius but when reading the first Act I thought it was horrendous. I've read a fair amount of play books and I've never seen a play that rushed before. I felt kinda cheated.

Kaitlyn Lovell I'm glad I'm not the only one who is feeling this way as I read it. The scenes and dialogue feel rushed and the characters feel off. As excited as I am to get some more canon on the world, I do feel slightly disappointed.

Isabella NOO I LOVED THIS SO MUCH

Kelly I agree with everything you said. I was seriously cringing so much during treading it. it felt like extremely bad fanfiction

Roxanne (The Novel Sanctuary) Yup, agree with everything you said

Lauren Yes, I agree. The series couldn't get any better and this was indeed a little bit of a "rushed" follow up without proper character development.. :(

allison same thoughts!

message 13: by Cat (new) - rated it 5 stars

Cat I agree for the most part. For the first third of the play, I felt like this was bad fanfiction. Then, once the plot started going, the play started to rekindle my love for this world. The alternate realities and how Jo fleshed out characters like Draco (whom she wrongly withheld a redemption arc from in the sixth/seventh book) was very nice and relatively easy to swallow (at least, in my opinion). I totally understand your qualms with it, and I'm still not totally sure if I want to keep my 5 star rating on it. Maybe time will tell.

kelly I personally really liked it, but I agree I don't think it was really necessary.

Elizabeth Norberg It's awful-total disappointment to me. I totally agree that I feel the story ended poetically at platform 9 3/4 with Harry and his kids.

Mac The end of DH made me cry... THEY ARE ALL GROWN UP WHY WHY JK ROWLING COULDNT YOU WRITE ABOUT AFTER THE BATTLE OF HOGWARTS? WHY?!

message 17: by Sara (new) - rated it 1 star

Sara I was going to read this, not because I really wanted to but just cause. I trust your opinion so I'm not even going to bother with it. I like where book 7 left us and seeing as it's not really J. K. Rowling's writing. I'll just skip it.

Franzi I completely agree..

Isabelle I've read better fanfiction with similar ideas. Time travel, book 8 etc. All been done and done so much better. Maybe we shouldn't judge the story on the printed version but rather on the play version but as long as they are not bringing that out on DVD I am most definitely not paying so much money to see a story I did not really enjoy.

Lindsey hmmm. I loved it. but everyone likes different things. I understand why you didn't, though.

Alexia Landry I agree 100%

message 22: by Alyssa (new)

Alyssa Bogosian I love your point that "the questions that were left unanswered kept the story alive" - I totally agree. This story doesn't leave much room for mystery or possibility, which, in my opinion, takes away from the magic.

message 23: by Tiarra (new) - added it

Tiarra I liked your video on YouTube. I didn't like the book but I didn't like how it skipped in the begging, I got really confused and lost. I felt like it didn't give enough detail.

message 24: by Tiarra (new) - added it

Tiarra I did like the book .

message 25: by Amy (new)

Amy I 100% agree! I feel in love with the series and my childhood fell into the hands of JK Rowling. I loved those story's. I always loved how I felt after reading each of the books. Unfortunately with this book, all I felt was disappointment. The characters were not the ones I have fell in love with.

muffin bubble ugh yeah i like, totes agree
