Shockingly bad. Darwin's writing has no flow, it is lethargically unimaginative and unimpassioned. Within a paragraph he will, without pretext, jump between completely random events without context. I was so excited to buy this book and I am sad that it is now on my shelf. I have never been so terribly bored by a book on civilisation.
