did not like it
bookshelves: awful

Just to let people know, I have a problem with any recently published books that I reviewed and have rated with 1 star either disappear or have been hidden. This one disappeared and I have added it again.

My previous rating and review disappeared.

I found this nauseatingly awful. Sickly sweet wisdoms spoken from a Christopher Robbin like toddler talking to animals. This reads like a poor copy of Winnie the Pooh without any of the good parts. Even the illustrations and situations are copied from Winnie the Pooh. This takes around two minutes to read, many pages blank for no apparent reason, the worst book I have read in a long time.

CanadianReader Oh, do I ever know this sort of maudlin book. At least it was short, eh?

Hilary Ha, yes that was a blessing Canadian!

Manybooks So did someone complain about your first review and was it censored? For reviews should NOT just disappear.

Thanks Margie, yes strange indeed!

Thanks Leslie, many people loved it but it wasn't for me!

Thankfully this was a library book. I really can't think of another book that has left me feeling so annoyed. Actually my rating was still there but my review had disappeared.

Abigail How odd, that your review disappeared! This one sounds completely missable.

Lisa Vegan Hilary, Great review, and thanks for the warning.

Hilary Many people really loved it Abigail, it really had the opposite effect on me.

Hilary Thanks Lisa, the author has also written about a religious group whose practices I find disturbing which made it all the more of an unsettling read.

And I just emailed you, Hilary.

Frustrating!!

Karina I clicked on your review bc of the one star… while I am reading and finding it endearing I see what you mean with the Christopher Robin and Pooh reference! Yes! It has a Pooh vibe. But honestly, is anything original anymore? Everything seems to come from something else… I do appreciate these outlier reviews though. We all think differently. Thanks, Hilary

Hilary That's a good point Karina, I hope you get more out of this one than I did, the illustrations are lovely but this felt a bit more sinister given the religious group this author belongs to and what I know of local people getting into this group.
