I'm not sure how I feel about this one yet.

The entire book is told thru e-mails, text messages, blog posts, interviews, etc and the author does a really great job at that.

I really hated one of the main characters, but you're supposed to, so I guess the author did a good job with that. I don't really enjoy reading books with unlikeable protagonists, so that's a point against the book.

Last part has mild spoilers.

The other thing I kind of hated about the book is what they decided to do with the time machine. Why would you start a company to sell it??? Why not just buy a winning lottery ticket, invest your winnings and make billions. As long as the public doesn't know you have the time machine, then the SEC and Congress are going to leave you alone. The only real reason to make a company and sell them is so that everyone knows you invented it. Hell, save the ego trip and just announce it on your death bed if you want the credit, after making lots and lots of money.

Not sure if the author was trying to make him as immature as possible or if it's just a case of a white author doing a poor job of writing a black character. Oh yeah, note to authors: don't wait until you're a quarter of the way (or more) thru the book before telling/indicating a character is black (or any non-white ethnicity)."
