Read 2 times. Last read December 27, 2021 to January 4, 2022.

This is my second reading of The Eight by Katherine Neville. I previously read it a dozen years ago and thought I would give it another try in case I had missed something here. But I cannot tell a lie. I found it to be such a tedious read because I could not maintain interest in the storyline or the characters. I did add one more star to be fair as the author obviously spent a very long time in writing and researching The Eight. This is only one opinion and I realize that most would enjoy this book.

C. (Comment, never msg). Ouch. One of my all time favourites for a lot of reasons I wrote about. I am making myself wait on the sequel by my bedside.

You just convinced me to give it another try. I rated it twelve years ago and it deserves another look. Hope you enjoy the sequel. Thanks for the heads up. Great review!

C. (Comment, never msg). Carole, this is the highest praise a review-writer can receive. Would you mind repeating it into my own review? I am not among those who receive abundant comments and each one means a lot to a writer.

I have seen you among mutual friends for years and smile, when I see you are a fellow Canadian! I think the low star on a favourite or two of mine is the sole reason I didn't initiate. I missed out on how flexible and delightful you are! We ought to connect. :) My name is Carolyn, pronounced like your name + "Lyn".

I put it in your comments. I should have done it already.

I thought I had too many low stars but goodreads says I averaged 4.2 in 2021. If I don’t like a book I usually DNF it without a rating or review. Then I let the publisher know why. It seems more fair. So if I nix one of your favorites, feel free to convince me otherwise. I was sending this in a message but I see you do not receive messages. Talk soon, Carolyn.

Mark Porton Yikes!!

Now, now. That was 12 years ago and I have already committed to rereading it. It will probably be a completely different book the second time. Time does change perceptions, doesn’t it.

Mark Porton Hahahaha I didn't notice it was 12 years ago Carole - and yes, indeed time does change our perceptions - usually 🙂

Carolyn, I have ordered an e-copy of The Eight from my library so I should get it early in the new year. I will keep you informed of what I think. Take care.
