I have been accused of having a cold heart more than once in my life. It may happen again here, as I never could warm up to Rowena. Pathetic and needy, paranoid about everything and everybody, her self degradation, questioning herself nonstop "Am I being paranoid?", (view spoiler) just made me want to avoid her. Yes, I'm sorry she was so miserable, but it was exhausting. Thankfully, I could not relate to her in any way. Not liking a main character is not a deal breaker for me and I was very interested in the story itself.
Artificial Intelligence, in this case, Maxine. This involves beta testing of a digital personal assistant. Friend or foe? Brings home the realization of just how susceptible the human psyche can be to input from machines, how easy it is to be manipulated. Have a care as to what you allow to be introduced into your life, and the amount of free rein you give to it.
