Inspirational memoir.
I never thought I would be able to relate to a memoir containing addiction and incarceration, but I was thoroughly surprised! Hardin's writing ability is stellar and her words are so authentic that I couldn't help but find similarities between our lives.
I learned a lot about incarceration and the insights made me realize that the system is so much more broken than I had realized. This book is an ultimate tale of redemption and overcoming, made all the more so because the system is set up for failure.
If you're looking for a surprising, interesting, and thoughtful memoir, this is an excellent choice.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book, all opinions are my own.

It really fits her in this book, as she becomes kind of the "mama" for people in prison,. but she's also a mom.

Wonderful review, Melissa! Rare to find a memoir we can connect so much with despite not having much in common with the writer. Glad you found it authentic.

She is a strong writer, so that really helped.

I am not a memoir fan, but this I could get behind. Dang! In my community there were a lot of mothers drinking "Mommy juice" aka wine. She sounds like an interesting character. My life is so boring...

Same Barbara! LOL
Same Barbara! LOL
Great review Melissa. It's one of those things, we may not feel a strong connection with the subject, but the writing gets us attached.

Thanks Annette!
Thanks Annette!
Such a Terrific review Melissa, I have always thought of the prison system as grim, but your description really reinforces this thought 💕💕💕

Thank you Jennifer!
I love your short and sweet review!
I don't often read memoirs, and agree, I wasn't sure I would connect with this woman's story. But she feels like a friend now! And her story was so eye-opening for me when she describes the struggle to stay out of jail once released, the struggle to get back on her feet, etc. Definitely like the system is working against her.
