it was amazing

Non-fiction that really kept my interested throughout. Excellent research, with historical details concerning not just the private lives of the three queens but also the political and social events of the period. Well written and in a way accessible to an average reader interested to expand their knowledge.
Not my first read on the lives of Catherine de Medici, Mary Stuart and Elisabeth de Valois, however, I learnt a lot, especially about Catherine's daughter. Highly recommended.
*A big thank-you to Leah Redmond Chang, Bloomsbury Publishing, and NetGalley for arc in exchange for my honest review.*

Thank you, Robin :)) It's a rather lengthy book but worth your time spent with it :)

Judith E I’m interested in those 3 ladies and great that it’s accessible to the average reader.

Q Beata - Thx for your informative and praising review. Of course I would like to read it - because It’s wonderful to have so many excellent nonfiction historical books of women these days. It changes how we look at the past - makes it more whole and adds truths.

Debbie W. These women are fascinating! Wonderful review, Beata!

Beata HBalikov wrote: "What a fascinating perspective, Beata. Thank you; this has me interested!"
Thank you, H :)) I think there are a lot of books on Catherine and Mary but not too many on Elisabeth de Valois, and I concentrated mainly on her, having read quite a few on the other two quuens. Hope you enjoy this title too :)

Thank you, Judith :)) Yes, it turned out unputdownable for me, believe it or not! :)

Thank you, Q :)) It was interesting to read about their choices and motivation behind them. They had the highest position but it didn't mean they didn't have to fight in order to survive, which was especially the case of Catherine and Mary. Happy reading! :))

Thank you, Mark :)) I hesistated myself, having a backlog on NG reviews, but this time couldn't resist the temptation :)

Ron Good review! You continue to broaden your reading into the many royal families and history, and must have learned so much, Beata. I knew the Medici only Renaissance architecture study, but it was more about Michelangelo and the works.

Zain A great book about three interesting women who I have enjoyed reading about in the past. A lovely review. 😎

Thank you, Ron :)) I've read some books on these queens but there's still something new to learn, especially that this thick volume reads like a page-turner :)

Lorraine Have read this year a book about Marguerite de Valois (Médicis Daughter by Sophie Perinot), one about Margaret of Austria by Rozsa Gaston, and one about The Bold One, mother of Cnut who became King of England (1017-1035) who married Emma of Normandy, widow of Aethelred the Unready. This book is right up my alley! Super review, Beata! Already added it to my TBR list & will order very shortly! Thank you again! 🤩

Thank you, Lorraine! :)) I'll but down the titles, I'd be most interested in reading the one on Margaret of Austria due to her links to the Boleyns :) Happy reading! :)
