I absolutely hated this book. The first 10% felt like Unrequited, my favorite book by this author and later on there was even a reference to it but this was nothing like that book. The transition from roommates to their arrangement was weird, Miller was a creepy stalker for most of the book and Ryan annoyed the hell out of me. They had this weird arrangement up until like 90% and the back 10% is what I would have liked the entire book to actually be like.
I’m about ready to DNR this author but there’s one more on her backlist I’ve been wanting to read, Unbreak Me. It’s from when she first started writing and I vibed with her books. I can’t stand her new stuff though and hopefully after this one I won’t be tempted to pick anymore up. Lesson learned. 🤡
One more thing!! How could I forget? It was one of the main reasons this felt like a chore to read. Ryan broke the 4th wall more times than I could count and it’s why he bugged the absolute hell out of me. There’s only been a handful of books breaking the 4th wall has ever worked in and this is not one of them. 🤦🏻♀️

I have to agree with you, even finding it enjoyable. And yes.. she is so far away from unrequited and my favorite unbreak me… this road she picked up it’s so different… hope your next read is a better one Megan 🙌

@patricia everyone loves Unbreak Me which is why I want to read it! I would have loved this if the last 10% had been in more of the book because it was the first time I liked them. Oh well 🤷🏻♀️
unbreak me was so good!! it was my first read from her and so far is my only one. i literally read it because i wanted to read something, anything, by this author before this came out. but then i read some reviews for this and i wasn’t sure about it anymore so i wanna read more books from jesse first before this. sorry you didn’t like this but can’t say i’m surprised because other mutuals have felt the same.
@elena I feel like you’d hate this book because there was no relationship development on page without Ryan getting paid and I kept hoping Miller would stop asking to buy him or Ryan would just stop taking the money but that never happened. It was just so disappointing because it felt so much like Unrequited at first 😭 I saw your review for Unbreak Me and it was what reminded me that I had books on this author’s backlist I still wanted to read. And anything you rate high, I’ll always check out because you’re more picky than I am 😂
ugh that’s disappointing. maybe i’ll leave this one till the end then. i haven’t read unrequited but i have a feeling i’ll enjoy it enough. 😂i did give it 3 stars because the first ~35% was aggravating to me but after that i loved it. basically the second half was way better. i hope you do too! yes i’m picky but i know we don’t really have similar taste so don’t trust me 100%. 😂
I haven't even read this but I definitely don't plan to anytime soon so I will hate it with you... heheheh I've seen too many reviews of similar to nature to this one, so it's a no from me hahah 🤡
Ryan=annoying is what stuck after a month since reading this so yeap. I liked Miller tho. But I like stalkers
