I can’t, I just can’t. I’m sure this book delivers exactly what it promised but it’s really not alright with me.My heart breaks for Ryan and I can’t stand to see him humiliated. He’s dirt poor, he has anxiety -worsened by the fact that he needs money- and he’s totally antisocial and awkward. I can’t stand watching Miller humiliating him, tantalizing him with money to make him get on his knees and suck him or to have sex with him. And he’s doing it in a cold humiliating way too. On top of that we are given the impression that Ryan thinks himself as straight. That’s sexual abuse in my books, sexual coercion. Taking advantage of a vulnerable person in order to abuse him sexually . And maybe I’d have been ok with other type of coercion, you know? A blackmail or I don’t know, some other form of fictional kinky dub-con but NOT when one needs money to eat, to survive , when he gets panic attacks that he will be buried in depth. How can THAT transform into a romance? How can a love story be born from that humiliation. I know , I know a lot of ppl will eat this cuz you know..fiction, smutty , hot etc , I just can’t, it bothered me for some reason. Also, the fact that apparently Ryan fell in love with Miller’s dick at first taste is sooo eye-rolling. That first BJ is cringe and double problematic because Ryan was also drunk. Sorry to all my Gr friends here who will love this 🫣 I know I’m a party pooper.

Ooooooooft, people seemed to generally like this one but I can totally understand your points on it, I’m not sure if I’ll read it or not haha! I hope you enjoy your next read better! Smut/hot books are sooooooo hit and miss for me ahahha

It’s probably not a bad book, Imme but I didn’t like the premise. There were many other ways for the guys to start having sex but when one is desperate it’s kind of tacky to take advantage. Unless you wanna wrote erotica and not a romance .

It’s not bad, Chelsea, if it weren’t for how they start to have sex it would have been quite good for me. I like this author’s story-telling

ahhh sorry this was a miss babe! this sounds sketchy as fk🙈 hope your next read will be a new favourite, love 💖
I've read one book by this author and it was enough for my heart to know they weren't for me. And I'm sorry that this was a painful one to even get through till the point you read till, Nicole. Fictional or not, we do know best what sits well with us or not. Really hope your next book is a winner. 🩵
damn i did not know this! i was so curious because i enjoyed the first and only book i’ve read by this author so i wanted to read something before this came out. i knew it had the sex for money theme but not like this. this sounds terrible! i know it has bully kink, and another mutual read it and told me ryan wanted to explore bully kink and be assaulted, so that’s where the dubcon comes from? but like, how he thinks of himself as straight? and then be humiliated over and over? hmm i’m not sure anymore.

I think if you know this author and liked other books by her you might like this one , Meli. It might be just me .

I don’t think it’s different from their other books , Ivana , just that it hit me in the feels that whole taking advantage of a money poor guy.

It’s probably not as bad as it sounds and the book is exactly what it’s supposed to be but the whole taking advantage of a money-poor person made me squirm uncomfortable. I’m sure the guy will love the hell out of everything that Milles will do to him, it just felt wrong to me. So , you know…it might be me and not the book. 😁

I realize that these books are mostly erotica and they can’t barely be called romances so it’s clear they’re not for me either,Amina. Thank you.

Elena, it’s just a personal preference. I’m sure the book delivers what it promises and Ryan loves all the ministrations Milles does to him 🤣
For me the “here’s some money you poor miserable and get on your knees “ felt uncomfortable. Any other way of coercion would have worked better for me.

Oh no!! 🥹 This is assault of the worse kind.. I wouldn’t have been able to continue this either.. kudos for dumping this miserable excuse for a romance book. I’ll be avoiding this for sure.. 😱 Great honest review Nicole!! ❤️❤️
Thanks Nicole 💜, I don't usually read spoilers, but with this one I'm very grateful. I'm a sucker for humiliation but the circumstances you describe here are a big no-no for me. And the mixing of sex and alcohol doesn't work for me at all. I'll add this to my avoiding shelf.

It’s always sad when a skilled author keeps writing cheap erotica when they could have been writing epic realistic love stories,Vanna, because this author can really write. :(

I’m pretty sure it gets to be an enjoyable book later on,Rain but how they started annoyed the crap out of me.

It’s actually not as doom and gloom as it sounds , Dru, and if you can overlook how they start you might actually like it. This autho’s storytelling is good and all the other reviewers loved it so I think if not for that start it would have been quite ok with me too. ❤️❤️

Good for you, Nicole. We all have our limits, and based on what you said, I can totally understand why you'd want to stop. I love how diverse the stories you try are, even if you end up dnf-ing them. ♡♡
I tend to like stories with problematic relationships, so I'm curious to see how I'd react to this.

I don’t shy away from kink, Cat but not when the vulnerable guy is exploited. I thought the rich guy is sunshine and kind to poor Ryan but he was was quite unpleasant.

I’m really happy you’ll give it a chance, Ann because we’re all have diff tastes. ❤️❤️

I read the blurb and had this icky feeling.. didn't even want to try this. The whole set up doesn't translate to consent but to creepy, being forced by life circumstances. Sadly your thoughts confirm this, Nicole.
Awesome review. ❤️❤️

Shit. I’m only at 12% and it reminds me of Unrequited right now BUT I’m assuming that changes? Ugh!! 😩 Unrequited is the only book by this author that I’ve liked so I keep trying their books but it never works out. If the cringe happens that fast I guess I’ll see what I think of it. I’m glad you put it down and didn’t suffer through it 💗
I can completely see your points Nicole I’m only reading reviews after finishing it myself and there was certainly moments in the first half I thought ‘why don’t I just dnf this?’

I’m sure it has good parts too, Sarah, I just got stuck at that part for some reason. I’d have probably rated it 3 stars too if I had finished it.
