”Because each of us knows what it’s like to go through something alone, and desperately need someone to be there with you. Especially if someone is going to judge you. The fear climbs up your spine and your throat and it feels like your lungs are so full of rocks you can’t take a full breath. And all you want is someone to stand in that space with you. We like taking care of people.”

I am a big fan of the Slate City series so you can imagine my excitement when a new Omegaverse one was announced! Clarity Coast series kicks off with Endless, Isolde’s story. With her ex being the best man at her sister’s wedding, our Omega needs a date in order not to face him alone. Hiring a pack of escorts? Definitely best done when drunk.

Upon meeting Isolde at the airport, the 5 males of the St. James pack realize she is their scent match. In this series, omegas can only recognize their match during their heat so although our girl is attracted to their scents, to her, their time together has an expiry date. Not to mention that her last relationship has left emotional scars that have not yet healed.

I loved Isolde as an FMC and just wanted to wrap her in blankets and protect her. Her fears and insecurities were real, and they didn’t magically disappear just because she met the right persons. Her pack knew when to step in and become her shield, and when to simply stay back so she could fight some battles on her own. My eyes were not always dry, I tell you. Now the men…

Can you believe I have been unable to pick a clear cut favourite up until now? Rowan, Hawk, Vaughn, Cade and Joel all had something I love. They were well nuanced and the bromance scene between Vaughn and Joel was wonderful, I loved that moment. And the chase scene? Holy moly geezus on a cracker— that is all I shall say while I lie on the floor.

Devyn mentioned that this series is like an homage to her beloved ocean and I felt that. The vibes are much less intense than Slate City but when it comes to hurt/comfort trope, she is a pro. I cannot wait for Ocean’s book and I leave you with one of the best passages in the book:

”I want all of you. I know it’s crazy and impossible, but f*ck me, I want all of you at once.”

Rowan crawled next to us. “Why is that crazy and impossible?”

I strained to kiss him and he closed the distance. Too gentle for how I felt. “Because I’m not cheese.”

A laugh burst out of Hawk. “Baby girl. Cheese?”

“You know the cheese with all the holes in it? I don’t have enough holes.”
