i.plot

daniella has been in love with her childhood best friend levi since high school. she finally confesses her feelings to him at their senior prom, but he doesn't feel the same way. heartbroken, daniella decides to cut ties with levi. however, four years later, they unexpectedly meet again in a bar. levi surprises daniella by asking her to be his fake girlfriend for his sister's wedding and she agrees.

my thoughts .𖥔 ݁ ˖ ┆this book is so cute, it’s fun and lighthearted, the perfect book to read during spring/summer. if you liked better than the movies by lynn painter i think you’ll also enjoy this book! it was fast paced and short, perfect to bring on vacation.

ii.romance

to no one’s surprise, the miscommunication trope was present in this book, and it was STRONG. is it that hard to communicate because these books are boosting my ego. i also think it would’ve been better as a dual pov book because i really wanted levi’s pov (i was getting a little sick of daisy). other than that, it was sweet and it feels like they genuinely love each other, it’s not just lust driven.

iii.characters

daniella ⊹ ࣪ ˖ she was 22 acting like a child 🥲 she felt somewhat underdeveloped. i could relate to her sometimes — especially to her insecurities. despite this, daisy came across as a genuinely sweet person who simply wanted a love story like in romance books, which is totally understandable.

“i want an all-consuming love. not one that suffocates, but one that makes me so thankful that my chest feels physically overwhelmed with emotion. to have this silent, unspoken communication with a person through touch and gazes. i want to be noticed in a crowded room. i want to be the only person in a crowded room. i want to be wanted, truly wanted, and desired. i want to laugh and to sing and to dance with someone and not feel self-conscious over it because i love them and I’m confident that they love me. I want to be touched and kissed and held because i’ve forgotten what it feels like…and yet, i think i deserve it.”
